Jesus this man can talk. And I mean that as a positive. I always have something playing in the background no matter what I’m doing, yet NL is the only guy who has me continuously focusing on the screen to see what he’s talking about. Top tier banter. Training a decade in the Isaac Mines really shaped him.
I'm truly so impressed with how competent nl as at Slay the Spire. sure there are tiny optimizations here and there but honestly... he's cracked im here to report 25:48 oh yikes that was rough but I will not be a type a chatter whatever he did is automatically most optimal as long as you win king
He needed 4 attacks before he could play the judgement tho, right? Boss at 34 and takes 1 damage per attack. He used his only draw (empty mind) and drew no more attacks so judgement would’ve wiffed.
No one in the history could have imagined how this day would ever end! And guess what? IT'S NOT GONNA END!! Extremely pogged to see Slay the Spire revived for like, the 5th time! Long live the king!
I’m so for all this content, trying to get good at this game myself and current NL is super entertaining and from the sound of it better at the game than past NL
just lucky has great synergy with nirvana, talk to the hand, fasting, duality, golden eye, wave of the hand, weave, and those are just the watcher-exclusive cards/relics. it's like deflect on crack
Watching NL has made my defect runs trivial on every ascent yet I still struggle with the watcher finally I'll be able to learn from the best and get past ascension 10
I’m here for all the Slay the Spire runs…I love the climbs. The Watcher is the only one I haven’t completed a run yet with, struggling with the mindset of swapping between stances, so excited to see how NL does it.
I picked up this game when you started this new series because I loved Balatro so much and it’s been fantastic so far. The watcher is one of the only characters I don’t understand yet so I’m looking forward to seeing how someone pilots that kind of deck!
Update - my first run with the watcher that got to act 3 also beat the corrupt heart on my first try… with how long it took me to do that with the defect I can confidently say that yeah this character is busted
"It's a picture of my daughter. I will say, "So cute" - that's my wife, it's not like, a hostage situation." The swiftness of NL's wit still amazes me.
me: Well, the watcher is boring, but, I am so glad he's going on this journey and we're here with him. also me: *screaming* JUST PLAY THE MIRACLES YOU HAVE THE DAMAGE TO KILL JUST PLAY THEM AFDMSkldajmdlksamklas XD
Yeah haha that was so funny how he picked out Wreath of Flame between two Wrath cards even commenting on having 3 miracles in hand. Overall he is doing well though.
Just so you know Wallop only gains block per damage it actually does - if part of it is blocked that doesn't count and if you overkill with it you only gain the health that target had left when you hit it
I personally struggle with the watcher just because i think its deck is heavily counter balanced by not having a lot of good block(easy), draw or healing. I think it’s also very hard archetype commitment and prone to dead drawing, ESPECIALLY if you’re relying on wrath. it’s not like the defect where you can run like 0 orb synergy then just toss in a bias cognition for free damage. But when you get the perfect draw the watcher is definitely the easiest character to enable 100+ damage in a turn.
Edit: He was right, I was wrong, per my reply. Leaving this up. 39:41 Needs block against spikers, has 500+ gold, gets 0 cost upgraded Wish, takes money option with a "You're probably not gonna need plated armor." Yup.
