Even to this day, 28 May 2020, Bran being king is still, still pretty hilarious.

Pod is no one's idea of a badass, but loyal, compassionate, capable of good judgement, a veteran of several legendary wars & experienced at court. His only drawback is that he's not an excellent swordsmans, but he's shown improvement & his primary duty is to be the king's attendant, not fight off assassins or strategize.

Pod was trained by brienne everyday and was even seen training others in winterfell. He survived the long so I think he deserves it

My first thought on Bran's Kingsguard was that Meera Reed would probably be on it. Yeah she isn't really an elite fighter but she protected Bran North of the wall and I think he'd value that.

Actually, with Bran's ability to see into the past, he would see how loyal Pod is, along with his deeds and character. He's like a living lie detector for medieval times, while seeing the mettle of any potential Kings guard.

These choices are good with regards to their fighting prowess, but are bad or personal/political reasons. Balon Swann is a good knight, but I feel he would believe that he "failed" house Baratheon/Lannister, given how ashamed he was in the books when Joffery died, and would likely end up the same way that Barristan did from serving Robert. Darkstar is a capable warrior, and would likely be happy to join to prove that he is better than Arthur Dayne. However, he would always prioritise his own self interests, and wouldn't care much about Bran. He would therefore be a poor bodyguard due to a lack of empathy and too much pride. Corbray in the books is depicted as vain and somewhat childish, and would likely end up arguing with his other sworn brothers, resulting in him or them being killed. This is due to how quickly he reaches for his sword in any given confrontation, regardless if he needs it or not. Crakehall's personality is fine for being a kingsguard, however, he is of the Westerlands. His house are sworn bannermen of house Lannister, a house which was previously the monarches of the seven kingdoms. It is therefore unlikely that he would relish in protecting a king who, as far as he would be aware, usurped his ruling house from power. Andrik the Unsmiling is unsuited simply because he wouldn't care about being a "thrall" to a crippled boy. The culture of the Ironborn do not think highly of Knights, servants, or cripples, and therefore he would not suit the role. Plus, I doubt he actually gives a shit.

Darkstar would never be trusted enough to be raised to the role of kingsguard. He tried to kill princess myrcella remember? He tried to murder a lil girl but failed and ended up slicing her ear off. Plus just because he’s a dayne doesn’t mean he automatically get the sword “dawn”. The sword goes to the most skilled & most worthy in house dayne, it doesn’t get passed down just because your father or older brother wielded it and gerold would never be deemed worthy of a sword like that based off his horrible reputation alone.

I think the loyalty played a huge part in Podrick getting in to kings Guard.

I feel like Pod is definitely well deserved. He has a lot of experience at this point whether in actual combat or not. Plus being trained by Brienne for who knows how long

It is pretty common for fighters to be knighted in the Adrenalin rush following a battle. Like Jorah after the Siege of Pike. I can only imagine that rush experienced after the Battle of Winterfell. Plus, he’s from an old family. Payne may not be known well in the North, but I’d say a Payne could easily serve as Warden of the West. And remember: we’ve seen Pod fight poorly... against Brienne of Tarth and Ser Brienne is one of the best fighters in the 7 Kingdoms thru all time. Remember Pod training others before the battle? It’s like Goku training in weighted clothing in DBZ: once it’s gone, you see just how strong he is. When Pod isn’t getting his ass handed to him by one of the best asshanders in the 7 Kingdoms, he can doing the handing of asses pretty well himself. Not to mention his skill at other things. Honestly, he’s good at a lot of things with or without his magic penis, great voice, and “keen military mind.” He’s got an amazing memory (remembering houses, sigils, famous figures), when Hot Pie describes who he saw with Arya as being tall, foul-mouthed, with a face like a half burnt ham, it might seem easy for us to picture who we know to be the Hound, but Pod didn’t have any reason to know that: he only knows Sandor fled at the Blackwater and has been rumored to be in the Riverlands w/ a high bounty. But he puts it together in an instant. He knew Littlefinger, but more than that, saw thru Sanaa’s Alayne disguise. As a fellow ginger, out red hair is a pretty quick giveaway. Without it, who would expect that ravenhaired young girl to be the kissed-by-fire Sansa? And how many battles has he survived? He’s loyal, strong, skilled. We could do no better.

Pod survived the fight at Winterfell and was taught how to fight by Lord Commander Brienne and Lord Bronn, Im pretty sure he is a much better fighter than alot of people give him credit for.

If Pod survived the Night Kings army and is being trained by one of the best fighters in Westeros he should be good. I wish we saw him develop his skills more as Brienne was teaching him but I'd imagine his skills will only get better. Especially if he's Kingsguard

Bran as king... is a stupid D&D cock up that makes little to no sense, but Bran working for the realm in King's Landing is not as outlandish of an idea as some people may think... Personally, I think Bran will eventually be the master of whispers on the Small Council under Jon or Daenerys (or both). Do not forget that Bran's entire journey into the north and self identity is guided by the three-eyed raven, who was formerly the most effective and frightening master of whispers for YEARS, Bloodraven. Bloodraven hasn't taken Bran as his pupil for no reason, he sees the boy has potential, or at the very least has the right, rare characteristics that makes Bran useful to Bloodraven's plans, whatever they may be. Something tells me Bloodraven isn't done serving the realm, and I imagine he plans to use Bran to either further his life and influence... or groom Bran to take his place.

I wanna see a video about those who earned the titles and compare them. Khaals, blood riders, Kong’s guard, first sword of bravos, sword of the morning, unsullied. Titles like that and compare them.

Those are great picks. I really like all of those characters (except Andrik, but just because I don't remember anything about him.) Ser Lyle is one of my favorite book-only characters.

Finally, I subscribe to the idea that Bran is the big bad, having been taken over by Bloodraven in the cave. I imagine he could find more than a few ways to convince loyalists or even Blackfyres that he could maneuver into doing his bidding, becoming sworn shields.

Archibald Yronwood would have made a great addition to the kingsguard if the show had introduced him some how. Even Barristan the Bold has stated that Arch has the true steel

I feel like picking pod as one of the nights scarred would be an excellent choice, because it’s a really nice arc on that character. he starts off as a bit clumsy, and not generally useful boy, but slowly becomes more competent, fighting, man. He serves his first Lord diligently, and he is uncapable of serving his second Lord, as he eventually gets himself killed I think it’s nice. That pod was able to have a good life for himself, and make something out of his own name.

Bron the cut throat becoming the lord of high garden and sitting on the council chamber was a bigger joke than Bran being a king.

Probably a wheel of cheese and ser pounce are the most qualified Kings Guard members.. But seriously in the books I see candidates like the Theon, the Hound, Jamie Lannister (if hopefully his sister dies and he gets a new look on life) also Fat Belwas and ofc. the prior Lord Commander Selmy.

I could see the hound maybe getting land and a keep somewhere in the north in the show’s cannon at least. Seems like Arya and Sansa appreciated what he did for them. He sorta contrasts with brienne in a way because he was almost born to be a knight and never wanted it and she always wanted to be one and was born a women. Based on how his arc ended in the show I think he’d want a place to relax and grow old at. Why not the dreadfort or one of the keeps of other dishonored/dead houses. I feel like letting him take the dreadfort would be sort of poetic given how the stark girls suffered there and at kings landing for him to be there as well fixing the legacy of his family and new keep. Between Sandor, brienne and the reed kids they sorta split responsibility for preventing the extinction of house stark so it makes sense to give them both nice fancy titles from the starks. House reed is already a noble one already so they don’t really need elevating. They are already important as gatekeepers of the north. Sansa seems likely to elevate sandor in some way. If not because she likes him but because Arya does

Bran might have knighted him because he helped saved Sansa in the show version. Pod may play a bigger role in the books especially at the Battle for Winterfell against the White Walker's. Grey Worm would be perfect as a Kings Guard or Commander of the Gold Cloaks.

With podrick being in the kings gaurd it doesn't seem like skill at arm's is the focus of the kings gaurd they tryna return it to position of honor so I think Myra Reed should b in it since she protected the king more than anybody.

So show podrick, becomes very adept at handling a sword, and he did survive multiple battles and his loyalty is steadfast... Fair enough to chuck him on the kingsguard

Are you sure George didn't bring so much attention to how the kingsguard are picked so that he could later change it up? Compare Jaime and Arthur Dayne. Jaime is the bad kingsguard, right? With if Arthur would have been the one with the king? Would there have been a lot of burning, or would there have been a dead king? When the king was torturing his wife, Jamie said "We're supposed to protect her too." the other kingsguard replied, "Not from him." There is a lot of quick jabs at how little honor the kingsguard actually had. Keeping ones oath isn't always the most honorable thing. Especially if one of those oaths is to defend the weak, and you do nothing as the weak suffer to uphold another oath. Even Barristan questioned if it was right to save the kings life during the Duskendal event. He thinks that if he had let him die back then, the world wouldn't have gone crazy. Not sure if The Mountain will betray Cersei in the books because he would make a perfect example of the monstrous unquestioning death machines that are the kingsguard. Podrick may actually end up on the kingsguard. Especially if new attributes are given more weight. Maybe they choose nights with more honor than unquestioning loyalty. Just food for thought. Not saying it will happen. But you do have to recognize that the books shine a lot of light on the not so pretty kingsguard.

Emm... What are you talking about? I like your channel, but this vid makes no sense at all. Is this list supposed to be generally badass characters from the books or potential kingsguard candidates? Because kingsguard are said to be the *finest* knights in the seven kingdoms, at least in theory. So that immediately excludes Hotah and Andrik who aren't even knights to begin with, and that's without mentioning that Hotah is the long-term bodyguard of the Prince of Dorne and isn't even from the seven kingdoms. I'm not sure Gerold is a knight, but even if he is - he's a criminal and a fugitive who attacks young girls, some fine knight he is. Corbray isn't a lot better than Dayne in terms of notoriety, and may pass in Cersi's kingsguard on a weak day, but not in any decent selection. While we're at it, why not throw in Drogon and Goghor the Giant from the fighting pit as well...

Jorah Mormont was made a knight and he is northener, so Andrik can be knighted if he wants it.

He shouldn't need a kingsguard if he knows everything that has, and will happen. He should be able to just roll around in his wheelchair and narrowly avoid danger indefinitely. Kind of like that scene in the Matrix.
