The Most Pathetic Character in Game of Thrones 

The most pathetic characters are mostly House Frey.

The reason Roose picked Walda is because Walder Frey promised the womans weight in silver.

I liked Fat Walda. She was a nice person and I was very sad when she and her baby died. She deserved much better. She did not choose her family nor her husband.

The thing that most amazes me is the fact that George built the Freys this stupids and pathetics... That's why the Red Wedding shocked so much

Merret Frey probably had what's called Cluster Headaches, which is known to be one of the most painful conditions. I feel so bad for him.

I dunno about that, man. Yeah, Merret Frey was a sad sack of shit, but he was still a highborn. He grew to middle-age and had a reasonably decent life. His wife may have despised him, but at least he was able to reproduce. I think the title of "Most Pathetic Character" should go to Chett from the Night's Watch. Chett was a Stewart, assisting Maester Aemon in taking care of the ravens until Samwell proved to be more qualified for the position due to being literate. After this, he was relegated to looking after the dogs in the kennels. Chett was an ugly boy, with boils covering his red face and a large, oozing cyst on his neck. Before being sent to the Wall, he was a leechman's son in the Riverlands, which essentially meant that his trade was to wade around in shallow ponds and collect the leeches that latched onto his legs in order to sell them to Maesters. He tried to proposition a girl named Bessa, who had reputedly fucked every other boy in the village; but even the village slut found him too repulsive to open her legs for and instead she rejected and laughed at him. Enraged and humiliated, he, in turn, stabbed her to death and was sent to the Wall as a result. He was among the Brothers who had intended to desert the Night's Watch on the very night they were attacked at the Fist of the First Men by wights. He had personally volunteered to murder Samwell, both as petty revenge for forcing him out of his relatively comfortable position at Castle Black, and to ensure that no ravens could be sent back to the Wall to inform the brothers there of the group's desertion. Of course, none of this transpired and Chett was killed at some point during the battle, though only after thoroughly hosing down the inside of his trousers. He later reappeared as a frosty-crotched wight and attempted to attack Sam and Gilly, but was set upon by ravens long enough for them to escape and be rescued by Coldhands. And that, my friends, was the sad, short, pathetic life of Chett the Leechman's Son.

so basically the Freys are trolls since they have to pass to troll toll to get the boy soul/hole.

The most pathetic one is likely one that nobody even remembers - I always felt particularly bad for Lollys Stokeworth.

Chett died in ASOS but it wasn't shown during his pov prologue. It ends with him laughing and pissing his pants. He's confirmed dead later. He's the only off screen (page) death.

Oh my god I realized Little Walder is the Eric Cartman of Westeros.

Anyone who has ever had a migraine can feel sympathy for Merret Frey. Unless you can stop one before it gets going ( and that's not an easy thing to do) then about the only thing you can do is lay still on a bed in a dark room until it goes away.

Chronic migraines are no joke, they can really get in the way of living life. It’s so interesting how GRRM puts real disabilities and stuff in his books and we see how that world reacts. Makes it feel more real

Ser Dontos' story is sad and pathetic too with a touch of sympathy that Merrett's story lacks.

I'd be interested to know what kind of medical issues this guy had from the helmet blow. My guess is a broken skull that never properly healed, but I'm not a medical expert.

david bradley did a great job portraying the late walder frey in the show. every time i go back and reread the books, i always picture his face when he shows up.

it very common throughout history to use women's hair as a device; growing it long as a statement of pride, cutting it as a statement of humbleness or piety, shaving it as a form of social ostracism. a bit modern, but French women who had German boyfriends were often force shaved by their neighbors after WWII

Whilst there's plenty of competent Freys (Like Lothar for example) and a few that don't look like weasels (As Catelyn mentions), I think Merret absorbed all their bad luck. They're a super interesting house, with members popping up everywhere (aiming to become High Septon before the Sparrow barges in, or fostered alongside Harry the Heir) the show does them a bit of a disservice by making them more one dimensional. They are still Freys though.

Walder Frey arrived late at the Trident, hes lucky he didn't lose part of his lands for the fucking gull. Darry at the very least had the balls to side with the Targaryens from start to finish.

I did feel bad for him given the fact that he was captured, branded, and given an head injury. While he may have been a bad person given his Frey upbringing, he would not have been so pathetic if it wasn't for the outlaws attacking him.
