Raiders will have a QB competition in camp this season, most likely the only true competition across the league, so who do we think is going to win it?
We will talk about both Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew and make the case for each. Raiders made some moves official with players and scouts on Monday we will pass along the news and notes, plus your calls and texts will close out the show.

Considering the dumpster fire AOC was thrown in last year, he handled it well considering he's a rookie, had to learn some different things once BO took over as OC, and just the gravity of the situation with everything that happened with McDaniels. We all understand AOC is not athletic, but there's things he can work on to become the guy, better awareness in the pocket, sliding within the pocket, shifting his shoulders, little subtle movements in the pocket to avoid sacks, and releasing the football quicker. If he can get better at some of those things, he can most definitely be the guy. I'm not saying he's Brady but watching some tape on Brady is a good example of a QB with minimal athleticism that got it done.... Go Raiders!!!

Agree 💯. The other problem that we had last year was the interior O line getting bullied and pushed back into the QB. That meant that he could not step up into the pocket. Inside pressure affects all Qbs. People who discount AOC are making a mistake

AOC should get the job: he was QB3 under McDaniels, looked great in preseason and got better and better in the last 9 game (in spite of no 1st team reps until the week before he started). Poise, decision making and big time throws all improved. Minshew is a great backup, but not the starter we need to succeed in 2024.

True QB competitions are something you don’t really see anymore so I’m really excited to see how this one plays out because while both guys aren’t difference makers I do think they’re both viable options in a defense-first, run-heavy team like ours

Minshew was a dropped pass away from taking the Colts to the playoffs last year. He was also the highest rated QB in the league when running 12 personnel. We gonna run a lot of 12 personnel

I don't know that not everybody understands but to understand this that you have to cover some things as a media person you just have to because if you don't then you're not doing your due diligence in the job so it doesn't matter what anybody thinks. I also feel AOC didn't get a fair shake like other QBs in the league did like Zach Wilson. If AOC wins the starting gig and fails, then we know the extent of his abilities. WAY too many "analysts" out here with instant gratification expectations blinding their reality. I believe we'll be ok at QB either way. We must support and believe in our team!

AOC rookie QBR was better than many so called franchise QBs first year grade. In fact it was better than Brady's QBR fir his 1st 3 years in the NFL

I think that there is not a real QB competition, of course Raiders are saying that just like the other teams you mentioned. AP has had nothing but praise for Aidan. I think Aidan is a lock. If he doesn't play well in his first three games, maybe we see Minshew come if for a game to see what he can do. (I don't expect that)

Minshew's money would mean more if it was $50M, not $15M. He's a high end QB2, and his contract speaks to that. AOC has higher upside potential. Minshew is a nice insurance policy.

I think actually the situation with Chandler Jones was what caused Max to mature so much and become the leader he is because the difference between 22 and 23 and Crosby's voice is entirely different.

Andre James is on a very short leash. They was no indication before they signed James that they would get JPJ. Atlanta threw a wrench in the plans and that changed everything for the Raiders

TT has said that they had a scenario in which Bowers was availabke at 13. When that came true they did not hesitate to pick Bowers

AOC will be the starter barring injury. He's always had to fight to get his spot and keeps improving, beating expectations. This will be the best OL he's had and it will show, Give the kid a chance to get that 2nd year jump. I believe that given how much the line should improve he will watch the game slow down and he will make plays for us.

The next Raiders quarterback should be hendon hooker. The Detroit Lions just gave Jared Goff 170 million fully guaranteed. This guy had a first round grade before he blew his knee out and I think he has far more arm strength than upside than what the Raiders currently have. It would cost maybe a fifth or a six round pick to get him. The Lions would gladly send him to the AFC as well just in case he turns into a star. You don't have to worry about him until the Super bowl potentially. That's always in the back in the mind of a GM The Raiders need to do this badly. I'm begging them to do this. The Raiders got to trade for a guy with this kind of upside and starting potential. No offense to the current QBs on the Raiders roster, but they're backup QBs at best. They have low ceilings. They are not the type of players that have a chance to be a star. Hendon hooker does. I know this is going to sound wild but we need to bring a hooker to Las Vegas lol

Okay, let's be real about this situation garoppolo from the start against Denver in the opener was obviously could not throw a deep ball which let the defense do pretty much what they wanted to do on the line of scrimmage. When AP took over after McDaniels was fired. They threw out 70% of the playbook from the get-go. That is enough for me to figure out AOC has got more than we know. Over the last four games he threw 8 touchdowns to 0 interceptions. If you didn't hear me, read that again.

QB AOC Farva the snail 🐌 that's slower than molasses on the field can't extend plays down field with better accuracy plus he's terrible at throwing the 🏈 on the run & just a lead foot 🦶 pocket passer that's going to rely on good offensive line for protection longer than 7 seconds or longer because he's got slower release of the 🏈 than other QB's like Peyton Manning or Tom Brady or Dan Marino even the best QB coaches can't fix QB AOC's problems unless he can get better with QB awareness in the pocket extending plays down field with better accuracy with better scrambling abilities otherwise he's just another career 3rd string QB waterboy clipboard 📋 holder that's not going to magically help Raiders Organization win Super Bowls in the future plus the fact that QB AOC had Raiders defense bail him out with getting points off turnovers when Raiders offensive scoring sucked

Give AOC a chance! He was under a shitty offensive system that only the GOAT could make look good. New offensive system should be qb friendly 2nd best rookie last year. Also key drops by Davante and others affected his stats and games as well.
