Who will win?? Iridescent Medium vs Mica Powder! 

I’ve been wondering how the iridescent medium, or adding iridescent paint would effect a painting, you just saved me quite a lot of time and money! I’ve been working with pearlescent acrylics, & metallics and have had descent results. If you need a more opaque pearlescent look to a painting, keep a light hand with the Floetrol. Pearlescent is better when used in a thicker application. As far as metallics, they seem to work just fine in the “regular” recipe, w/ Floe & water. Thank you for experimenting these 2 other additives!

Super helpful! my Client wants her Living Room walls to resemble a pearl. I am going to mix the Liquitex with a soft white. Not sure if I should use semi gloss or satin finish though.

You could sieve the mica into the paint

Oh, it's a pity that I didn't see you mix everything at normal speed, that's part of the enjoyment of watching these kinds of videos, especially for beginners. However, the piece on the left it's nice.

Like the Liquitex better

Couldn't you have mixed the mica powder with a bit of water first?

Do I also use the Floetrol with the iridescent medium? Or the iridescent medium alone?

Mica needs a translucent medium or it’s covered by the opaque paint base.

Damn just picked this up with high hopes but it looks like I'm going to be disappointed. Oh well.
