Wow, that iridescent medium gives a lovely shimmer to the paints. I gotta give it a try now. As you say, it is cheaper than paying for lots of different metallic paints!
The way I saw a W&N rep use it was to take a color pencil (same color as the swatch he’d painted out with blue wc paint ) , mix water to the pencil scratch on paper , and make a paint out of it - then drop some medium in to that and mix it up - then take that and with mostly the side of brush, brush it over the blue wc he painted in the swatch - not over the whole surface - just swipes here and there. This gave the effect of shimmer of light on the blue , making it look like shimmer on water. What I did not understand was why he did not just put the medium in some mixed up blue wc he had for making the swatch sample - why use the blue water color pencil, mix it up with water and then add the medium and use that to transfer to his swatch to get the highlight on water effect. Can’t figure that out. :)
