Well... As someone who's been brought to the music quality world by DankPods himself, Bass is great as long as it actually is played through something with a high quality one. Heavy low quality bass is just a wet fart over whatever you're listening to imo, and having too much can have a negative effect on some songs, and with too much i don't mean the meme levels of bass boost. I know that it's a bit too much of an enthusiast's point of view, but you should always learn your headphones and your music, then tune your headphones to taste with an EQ if you have a dedicated device/app that let's you do it.
They specialize in high displacement low horsepower, but it's all because of the stupid factory tune they basically suffocate the motor to get it to sound like that.
@@Modelta you harley dudes always forget to mention japanese cruisers like the goldwing. Those engines are actually engineered using tech that did NOT go outdated in the 1940s. Harley is the only manufacturer with customers dumb enough to think fuel injection is a good selling point lmao.
@Shahan 484 it's a harley davidson, the full name is ultra classic electra glide. The electra is Harleys grand touring motorcycle with a infotainment, speakers , hard sattle bag, and a touring "trunk" storage. It's a big 900lbs bike, mine is 2007 and come stock with a 96ci and I upgraded mine to an s&s 110B cubic inch. We get royal Enfield in the US but didn't know have have a model called the electra.
Ducati gets my vote even though you don't do it justice by revving it out to the point its sound turns into a scream. Try that with a Harley, its sound would turn into a distribution of slightly used spare parts.

This was well presented, but for me I like the sound of the Harley Davidson motor. I grew up on that and it is a part of my legacy, going back generations.
No winner I would say both have their characteristic iconic sound due to the design. But loved how animation exactly demonstrated long and short stokes in respective engines and the sync with sound
I have a 1260s Ducati V-Twin with a full race arrow system. People say it sounds violent. I love it. I also love the Harley sound. V-Rod with the higher revs and the typical Harley sound. They all sound good.
Well, the Harley sounds like a tracktor falling apart within the next 100 meters, however, this is a nice comparison of motors. The 90° V is an obvious choice for motorcycles. It's narrow, inherently balanced and has character. The 45° V is narrow, short, but unbalanced. And it has very little space between the cylinders for the intake assembly. Maybe a 60° V would be a good compromise... (Aprilia RSV1000). Also we are comparing a short stroke race engine with a long stroke street engine here...
Maybe at... just 100 or even 50 rpm ? A v8 has much more cylinders and to make it sound like a v2, you would have to make it run incredibely slowly that might be impossible
Nah i like the sound a harley makes waaaaaay more. Sports bikes have em beat in speed and performance, but they got y'all beat in comfort and asthetic.
I cant help but love the low down grunt of a Harley engine. Sounds like how you would expect American muscle to sound with 2 cylinders. Im a sucker for pushrod V engines.

I like the Harleys, I won't lie. They have a distinct sound profile that's very bassey, but also super loud. The vibration from these suckers, if you were sitting next to them you could feel the floor move. Crazy stuff.
The difference in sound is due to the ignition system, not the angle of the pistons. In old days Harley Davidson couldn't afford a distributor for the ignition system, so their spark plugs work at the same time. Good advertising can turn a design flaw into a legend.
That's not true, the angle of cylinders is foundamental for the ignition timing, which is the main factor for the noise output in a engine. For example you can have 270° in line twin, 180° in line twin and 360° in line twin. Each of this engine will sound very different but all can have the same injectors, same displacement and same distribution
Definitely the Harley davidson, even rho some say it sounds like its goong to stall or what not, it wont. Most people if they dont hear an engine sounding like clockwork they think it's odd, but I get, but this engine sound hear is an evolution engine with carburetor, a fuel injected bike especially the twin cam sounds night and day
Impressive ear! Kudos. It IS an evolution engine. I honestly appreciate and like all engines, I also really like motorcycles. I have to admit that I personally do not understand the cruiser motorcycle, which doesn't mean that I dislike it or have anything against it. But when it comes to the sound of old Harleys I have to say that they are near the very top of any engine sound for me. Especially old Harleys that have this rhythmic unevenness to them. The new ones are ok too but I feel they're a bit too artificial. The old panheads, knuckleheads etc...are just pure oily mechanics. It's not about speed, or power or anything tangible like that. These engines are about something that is a bit beyond mere words. I like Ducati as well but in terms of sound alone, between these two bikes I would have to go with the Harley.
@@d4a I get what your saying, I had a sport bike in my younger years, it was a GSXR 600, love the way it sound and idled compare to the other inline, kind of has a up and down idle. When I jumped over and started the newer harleys at the time which was in 2008, I was like hey where is that famous sound, I even waited for the bike to earm up, I didnt know cause of the fuel injection and it being a twin cam, it changed everything, but I love it today, and funny thing is I'm not sold yet on the latest engine which is the M8, I think they are very smooth tho and quicker but I'm still enjoying my dyna, I still like the vibration

For consistent powerband and delivery and for racing, Ducati. For reliability and low cost, Harley. I’d like to see desmodromic valves in a Harley engine like the M8 which has a lot of potential and is used in racing.
Ducati feeling is something unique. At first time it feels as smooth as Automatic transmission on belt driven motorcycles (Honda PCX, Honda ADV…) But the power is way exciting every time you open the throttle
Ducati twins have a shared conrod too. In fact almost all V twins do. Harley sounds "unique" because of their very narrow angle, the fact they have so much displacement and rev so low, and in large part also because most of them run straight pipes.
For distinct sound the Harley obviously wins. The Ducati could be confused with an other engine, but the Harley can not. Which sounds better? I don't know, depends on my mood I guess.
thats why one design competes successfully on the race track, & the other one is better suited for 2 wheel tractors & old men who like to make noise WITHOUT going anywhere quickly.
