Instead of a junk drawer, try referring to it as a utility drawer. You keep things in there that have a use around your house.

So...a little tip for socks. Get rid of all the existing socks and buy each family member a new big pack (if you can.) If you get everyone all the same socks, you will never ever have to take time to match them up again... For example, if all Ian has is Hanes white socks, you won't have to match his socks up anymore because they will all be exactly the same. And if all your daughter has is one certain kind and color, you won't have to match up her socks anymore because they will all match.

I LOVE THIS!!!! why haven't I thought to get all matching socks for everyone. It's so hard keeping up with 800 different pairs of socks. I should just get rid of all of them and start over, in fact I am doing that. I hate socks, we have waaay too many 😆 ...🥰🥰

@@danniraearranged also you won't even have to put them together after washing them. You can just throw all the matching ones in Ian's basket or dresser drawer and throw all the matching ones in your daughter's basket or dresser drawer. Because they will all match, you don't even have to take the time to roll them together. It's the best hack ever!!!

@@danniraearranged also...one more tip (and then I will shut up, I promise) 😂 But, if you only wash one family members clothes at a time, you will never have to sit and separate whose clothes is whose. If you are washing only your son's clothes that day, when you take out of the dryer, you don't have to sort as much because you will automatically know they are all for him. I know for some people this may be common sense, but when I was younger and had young children, I wish someone had shared these ideas with me. I was washing everyone's clothes all together and then spent hours sorting whose clothes was whose and where the matching sock was, etc. These two tips truly save so much time.

Oh my gosh you are so dang SWEET! This made my holiday season, thank you so much! Yeah I'm not much for the music LOL it gets in the way of me talking 😂🤣 I don't mind playing music every once in awhile, very rarely 🤣 but I just have so much to chat about, and to be very honest it takes me forever to find a decent song on epidemic sound, epidemic sound is what I use for royalty-free music, it's not the greatest music some of it's okay but a lot of it's not my favorite 😆 thank you so much for watching and being here with me friend 🥰

I am motivated by the love of clean, organized spaces. Recently I have become motivated by the Swedish Death Cleaning method. Now I look at the things I’ve been saving in a whole new way. Also I’m motivated by the videos with your Mom at her home. I am older than her and feel the urge to get my affairs in order. I can’t do a whole lot at one time (I have to take frequent breaks) but I have more free time than you, Danni. My kids and grandkids are all grown & gone. I just love ya kiddo! When you asked us why your hair dryer and curling iron died at the same time, I said to you via the TV, this is why you need sage!! 😊😊! I talk to myself all the time and it doesn’t mean we’re crazy. When I was overwhelmed with cleaning projects. I would light one incense stick and play with my dogs/take a break. Once that one was finished I would light another one and I had to clean for that long, since I had already spent the "leisure" time. It helped. Best wishes with the timer.

I talk to myself too lol! I have mostly all same black socks. I left my job because of chronic pain so I made it a routine to clean every day because I called it my “new job.” Making videos and watching cleaning videos motivate me as well. I then added exercise before cleaning to help with chronic pain. I sometimes don’t feel like doing either but I tell myself it will help with the pain and make me feel better that I’m doing something productive. I’m trying to make reading a routine but have not been successful lol. Trying to cut down on watching RU-vid too

I think maybe you’re already trying for this, but give the drawers in the dining room a category. For example - Office supplies (stapler, white out, stamps, pens, scissors), utility (flashlight, batteries, small tools), purse (sanitizer, lotion, lip balm, sunglasses). Look up how to fix squeaky shoes. There are a couple things you can try to fix it but it depends on where exactly the squeak is coming from. Thanks for not editing it out. That was a good chuckle. 😂

Hi Danni! Just a few suggestions that I hope you find helpful…have your kids help you play detective w the keys. Maybe they can go around your house and see if any keys are duplicates??? Also take them w you when you visit your mom and the cabin… after you try all of those options, throw out the rest (just make sure you label the keys that do you know where they go!). Would you consider adding cute labels (wooden tag ones perhaps?) outside each cabinet? Maybe one cabinet is Paper Only, one Art Supplies Only, etc… it seems like if you make these rules you can stick w it. As for all the hair supplies, could you keep some in a cute container, like a pretty teacup and leave it on your bathroom counter? The surplus should be in a closed, labelled container placed in the drawer. Same w makeup… keep the ones you used easily accessible and all extras should be tucked away in a makeup bag. Good luck!

I wake up and head straight for a job i dont want to do after coffee as im still in brain zombieland i can finish a job without thinking.When i fully awake i feel overwhelmed by clutter so from advice i got here from Danni i take a tea break and watch your videos and i become inspired.I also am wearing the same leggings and top as you in this video which is weird.I like the games throws swop im thinking maybe im going to bring my throws into a front room cuboard..I put my lipstick in a used icecresm tub and foundation in another into the draw.Your clean up looks very good and i enjoy my breaks watching these videos reminds me to decluttter regularly x thanks Danni x

Talk to myself lol😂, yup, all day long or I’d never remember to do what I need to. I’m usually very motivated but easily distracted too. I find that if I make a to do list every morning and cross things off as I go along, you can visually see the progress. You need a cup of coffee, I need a pot of coffee😂 and two more pots throughout the day to stay motivated.

Hey!👋 I too had the same problem with my Nike sneakers two mos ago! The "right" sneaker squeaked so bad that it drew too much attention at work! It was so embarrassing! Even walking on carpet! The mold of the sole of the shoe was defective! I tossed mine as I started walking to the rhythm of the squeak! 😂

I was unhappy with my bedroom. I looked on Pinterest and pinned what I like. I got the vibe I liked. Then made an Amazon wishlist and put everything I needed or wanted. Seeing it all together was like a vision board. Then look at it daily see if it really your vision and once you see you love it then make over your room. At least that’s what I do. It’s snowing here so I’m enjoying watching you and the snow. Enjoy the day.

I need something visual like that, because every time I make over my room it ends up not working out, my room is SO BAD! Its one of my least favorite areas in the house. Hi, Danni! Great job on the house clean! I remember my mom used to clean our bedrooms when we were kids while we slept. You get use to having the bedsheets changed while asleep in the bed. What motivates me is getting something that pleases me out of the chore I'm doing. For example, only lighting a favorite candle scent or playing music while cleaning. Or watching a favorite youtube show while cleaning dishes. Just something that i don't otherwise do unless I'm cleaning.

I feel ya, sometimes you fall into an activity you enjoy and you get sucked in, for me that's reading. I tell myself I will take a break, just read for a bit, and then get back to whatever the task was... and before I know it an hr has gone by and I didn't notice, so yea 😅😅 Just a suggestion, if you find that timers work for you try the Pomodoro method. You set a 1hr timer but it's split into a working time block and a break. I use it at work and find that it keeps me focused and on track when I have mutlitple tasks to get through in the day. You can allocate more than 1 hr per task if you think it necessary, but it mainly gives you a set amount of time to work on that task and a "deadline" to completeit by. The usual splits are 45/15 or 50/10. Maybe that's something that could work to minimize the breaks dragging on without you noticing.

I used to read every single night, I LOVED it, it also helped me get to sleep, I have a difficult time falling and staying asleep. But after I had kids, I wasn't able to read as much anymore, I listen to audible books more than I do read, but there's something about having a book in your hand and actually reading it that is the best! LOVE that!!!! That is brilliant, I have to look up the Pomodoro method now, I need timers, not just for task but also for breaks, so this method is PERFECT for me! I need timers, deadlines, I need structure...LMBO... or else I get off track, distracted, I lose my focus. May I mention you & this comment in an upcoming video? I took a screenshot of it, so I don't forget LOL I forget everything, but this is incredibly helpful! Thank you for sharing this and thank you so much for watching & being here with me friend! 🥰

I love watching you. You are so fun! MY one tip that I notice almost no-one thinks about...Keep the toilet lids in your house down. No one wants to look down the toilet. Also, a factoid! Flush AFTER you put the lid down. Bacteria can fly into the air when we flush. It was especially mentioned during covid. TMI LOL!!!!

For motivation, I try to picture myself doing the thing, and also imagine how danged GOOD I'll feel to have it done and out of my way. I'm lazy, but I like to just do the thing I need to do so I can do something I like better without angsting over the task that needs done. I just, TODAY, finished the LAST interior declutter/purge/organizing. My craft stuff is ACTUALLY organized! Choirs of angels have been singing over my house all day. LOL! We have a small house (only 8 rooms and 5 are beds and baths), but this has been a 4.5 year long process since we bought the place, though this round has only been in the works since mid October. Now, I have just the small upgrade projects. New curtains, getting wood/staining/handing some shelves around. Nothing huge. I feel SO GOOD. So every time I didn't want to start the next room/task, I'd think back on how great the last room felt to be in, how great I felt to have it done, that pride of a job well finished, ya know? I've got the third car-load of donations boxed up and ready to go. I didn't even know I had that much left to give away still. Though I've had two kids become adults, shift interests, and have been tougher on myself about what crafts I'm actually going to do and CAN do. This place isn't immaculate, we live here, but geez, it's so good now. It makes me WANT to keep it clean now instead of sighing at the clutter and feeling that cleaning is useless because there was so much crap everywhere. I choose to call my junk drawer the utility drawer. 😉 Same stuff you got in there but with lots of little boxes I DIYed into organization. Now it stays neat since everyone can see where to put it back. So much nicer to use.😊

Hey that's me I take a break and look at RU-vid, I had to stop this morning and get things done. Yes I have to have coffee first, then because I like a clean house that motivates me, I don't want to become overwhelmed with the things I need to get done, but I'm older than you, I also want to paint the trim in my house and that's what is hard to get motivated with. I love Murphy's oil soap too! Oh Yes I watch minimal mom too! I post as you say things lol😂

Taking breaks is great Danielle! We all need them. Being a homemaker can be boring, monotonous and lonely. Don’t be hard on yourself. Homemakers are on a different schedule. It’s hard to stay on task and be disciplined sometimes. You’re doing great ! Remember your job is 24/7. One time when my husband and I were in Grand Forks with our best friends I tripped on the sidewalk outside of the hotel and fell into the bushes! Lol What if you tried heating up the glue gun? Maybe the pencil would slide out? Especially if the gun snd glue residue is warm? Worth a try. Well, you always say that your electronics don’t like you. It is weird they went at the same time!😳

Every time I read your Comments Laury they always make me feel better & I always learn something! You are 1000% correct, we are on a different schedule & its not a 9-5 job it is a 24/7 job, and sometimes I forget that. I think sometimes homemakers can be too hard on ourselves and we need to give ourselves a break and some grace. Thank you! And im not laughing, thats not funny 🤣🤣I hope you were okay, im still not laughing LOL I could write a book on all the embarrassing crap ive done, the grocery store stories are a doozy HA! I tossed the glue gun, but I tried digging it out of the garbage LMAO because Ive received some comments to do just that, heat the glue gun up and it should pop out, but I think Ian took the garbage out already. I dont know why I didnt think of that, I dont know what I stuck a pencil in it in the first place, but I do think that would've worked. Good to know for next time...its me...it may happened again 😆I may even test it out on my new glue gun, that thing is awful LOL It is weird that they went out at the same time, I swear Laury its me! The house,the electronics, technology...it all hates me, its me I have a force field or energy, something LOL Always so HAPPY to see you here with me friend! HUGS 🥰😘

Hey Danni!!! Always love your videos. I'd love to hear more motivation to clean from you. Oh my goodness what a week already!! It was nice to get a video from you today. My " junk drawer" I made it into a useful space in my kitchen. We stored extra knives in there, an assortment of tools,etc. I hated that drawer in the kitchen because it would get "stuffed" with stuff that we were not using, literally. So I made it functional but yet a "junk drawer" if that makes sense. I get into it every day and I no longer cringe opening it As far as socks, I totally get what you are saying. My daughter who is 14 she keeps hers by the entrance. We have a bench there where she stores her socks and seasonal items there and it works! She's also in charge of doing her own laundry (yeah!!!). My husband does his own work clothes and I do the rest such as our every day clothing. I also make sure everything is not inside out before washing to make it easier to put it away once it's dried. Great tip from that person on the diy list. As far as your comment on getting motivated to clean by watching cleaning videos, I do that myself. The only time I'm not motivated is when the weather gets cooler. All I want to do is snug up under covers. Yes I myself have a fantasy self too. I say to myself I'm going to get up extra early then end up sleeping late. But in the end all my chores do get done. I'm not an early riser at all, I'm a night owl. But my husband not so much. He's asleep by 9. Look forward to more videos from you!!!

Hey luv I hope you and your family had an amazing thanksgiving. I totally hear you on the junk drawer, I feel like the kitchen is a great place to have a junk drawer, I had two junk drawers in the kitchen 😂 but the drawers in my kitchen aren't big enough to be a junk drawer that's why I use the dining room drawer as a junk drawer either that I would prefer the junk / utility drawer in the kitchen.( How many times can I say junk drawer 😂) I am getting rid of all of the socks and getting new socks, everybody is going to get matching socks. I am so tired of going through 800 different pairs of socks, have I mentioned how much I hate socks 🧦😆 you and your family have a really good system in the household, you're so incredibly organized and on top of things, I wish I was more like that. And same, I definitely have a fantasy self with so many fantasy projects, it's hard not too, we want to do all the things but there's only do much time in the day. I've noticed I tend to get "depression" vibes when things are overwhelming, or just more unpredictable than usual, and when I'm undecided. So some kind of structure to counteract that, is crucial. Oddly enough, it's just a reiteration of the old advice about sticking to a schedule. I get motivation from feeling of accomplishment, so just starting something, anything, makes me want to go on. And when I have the energy, it can feel great. What often makes me stop in my track is when I have to make a cascading plan, for doing things before I can do other things. In those cases I need to tell myself that its okay to do some things twice if I have to - don't try to be so effective that I can't get anything done. It helps... to some extent.

lmfao omg thank you for clarifying i’m not the only one who collects jars, for some reason i have a love for jars of all sorts, baby food jars to pickle jars. i have a tote full 😭🤣 i also have an obsession with blankets, all my kids closets on the top part is packed with blankets and i have a huge tote of blankets. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I used to talk to myself all the time. Bit since I moved in with my hubbie, I kinda stopped doing that (afraid he would think I was insane 🙄) I think the talking to yourself to remind yourself is to imprint the memory so there is less chance to forget. Now thinking about it, that might be the reason I tend to forget more. Since my health went bad, I take a lot of breaks. It hard to conquer that, because if I do too much, I pay for it the next days. But I only feel it, when it's already too late. Very annoying 😒 My mother has always helped me financially. I felt really bad about it, being that old and still needing my mother's help. So I understand what you mean. Haha I also have a 'running list', but it's not really running. More crawling in slow motion 🤣 Most stuff is on there for months, because I have no money to buy it 😁 We have movie night every friday. We had game afternoon on sunday in our previous house when my son and DIL lived with us. But we haven't done it since my hubbie and son/DIL decided to hate each other. I felt very stressed out about it and didn't feel like gaming with my hubbie without my son. Then we moved and the box with games where unpacked just today. Now my hubbie wants to plays games again. I do not really know how to feel about it. Probably playing Arkham horror will bring back memories of when we could still hang out with my son. You made me laugh with your 5 seconds of music 😂 No Danielle, I'm not gonna turn you on, ask your husband 🤪

Dawn from the Minimal Mom said something like (paraphrased) Why are you saving your best for others, and only sparingly for special occasions? (Mostly) Use your best for your everyday. Brighten your everyday up. Use the special plates. (Maybe not the heirloom bone china, but the pretty and nice ones) Wear the pretty clothes. Have the happy decorations up. We are kind of punishing ourselves everyday with the use it until it wears out, then fix it, and use it until it needs a funeral. It is about a mindset shift. And if that shift comes with some serotonin and dopamine, bonus! So, why clean when it is just going to get trashed sometime down the road? Because YOU deserve to have it nice (for as long as it lasts) and living does create mess. Are you using stasis pods for your family? (Fun to deliberate, though) Maybe I am the only person who needed to rethink this way. But if it helps you, enjoy. P.s. It works even when you are decluttering your closet.

Hallo Daniël.. ik heb weer genoten van je video! Als ik mijn huis gaat schoonmaken dan neem ik gewoon pauze. Ik doe alleen in de ochtend mijn huis . Ik werk ook nog drie ochten in de week, maar dan heel vroeg ( 6uur). Soms als ik thuis kom van me werk dan ga ik nog wat doen. Meestal niet . Ik doe zwaar werk. Lichamelijke. Ik ben gewend om pauze te nemen ,dat doe je ook op je werk. De muziek : ik moest zo lachen ! Even wat laten horen en dan weer uit .
