Happy September 1st! Today is the first day of the official September Whole30. Who is participating?! Let me know in the comments below if you're doing a Whole30, if this is your first time and WHY you're doing one. The why is a big thing to remember these next 30 days.
After going back and forth for weeks, I've decided not to do one. I'll talk about why in another video. BUT I promised I would still be uploading Whole30 videos anyway.
So here is a Whole30 grocery haul. I get all of my groceries at either Target or Costco. And they have a ton of Whole30-approved choices. You'll notice I didn't mention menu planning or recipes. That's because I find that way too complicated and unnecessary. Stock your fridge with protein, veggies, fruits, starchy carbs and a few extras like almond butter, Whole30-approved condiments and spices and you'll be good to go!
Each meal chose a:
Protein source
Vegetable
Optional: a fat source
Optional: A starchy carb or fruit
I'll talk about this meal creation plan in another video. But if you have more questions let me know and I'll make sure to answer them!

+Karleigh Marie I'm so glad it was helpful!! It really is great for gut health. Whenever mine acts up, I'll go back to eating Whole30 for even just a couple of days to reset. It's obviously not as good as 30 days but I still find it helpful. Good luck with your Whole30!

I didn't know about potatoes. When I did my first whole 30 6 years ago I thought they were a no-no. I'm so glad!! Off to buy a bag tomorrow!

Haha my boyfriend thought they were a no too! I was like "Nope, we can totally eat potatoes!" I think the confusion came from in the original book back in 2010ish it said no white potatoes. And they were added to the yes list with the release of the new book :)

Yay! A new video! Thanks for sharing. I'm not sure if you have a Trader Joe's nearby but they have a seasoning blend called Everything but the bagel. It's basically the blend found on an everything bagel. So yummy on eggs and roasted veggies!

The Whole30 is already pretty simple and straightforward and I feel like your video helped even more with the visual aspect of what you can actually buy. I'm excited about Costco's turkey burgers... I hope my store has them!

+allypbnn yes! It's only hard mentally when you really want to eat something when it's not approved. That's when you really have to focus on why you're doing it. But it's really not complicated at all once you figure out what you can eat.

I agree abt frozen veggies! Also, I am just not gonna buy a lot of fresh container/bagged greens anymore cause they stuff way too much in them and i always have to take it out and divide it into more containers to keep it from spoiling. The paper towel definitely helps, but anyway...

Great video!! I am doing the September whole30! This will officially be my 3rd round. I am really looking forward to your pre & post workout meals (on the whole30) video whenever you do that one! I was wondering if you could do a video on your experience with your fitness performance/endurance while being on a whole30! :) thanks again for sharing!!

Oh that's such a good idea! Because it can take a serious nosedive. Which is one of the reasons why I decided not to do one myself this september but instead just share videos about it for those who are doing one. The biggest issue is just trying to get enough carbs in when you've cut out a lot. When I'm not doing a Whole30, I eat gluten-free oatmeal and white rice.

I just finished my second whole30 (first one last fall 2016) on Tuesday 8/29 and I have had dairy and wheat and boy howdy has my fibro come back with a vengeance! All though I have had some Amy's fruit snacks today I think I'm gonna jump back on and do another whole30 with you this September! Couldn't hurt (especially since it already does lol) plus I have a wedding coming up in October and a honeymoon to follow. I love how toned my body looks when I'm eating clean :) Loving your videos!

+Angela Nash congrats on finishing your Whole30s! And oh my gosh I'm so glad it worked for your Fibro!! It really does make a difference. My pain is thankfully under control as long as I stick to my no gluten or dairy. But even I cheat from time to time. I don't have to go full Whole30 but I do need to take a step back and go back to eating the basics: meat, fruit and veggies. But a Whole30 is so good when you want that social support of everyone else doing it too 💕

I am definitely a brinner person! I’m in the studying phase of the Whole 30 and have set March 1st as my start date. I’m also a soda person, so I’m really trying to psych myself up for letting them go.

It took me a while to get rid of soda. The first step was I stopped buying it. I could only have it at restaurants. Plus the more you drink water, the more you realize that soda isn’t refreshing and you’re still thirsty. Good luck! Let me know if you need more tips or questions 😀

Painfreekitchen simple truth organic brand from Kroger. It's not grass-fed but I don't mind that. Look up a tutorial. The process is pretty hands off and takes 15ish minutes total.

Painfreekitchen I actually liked the book. I'm not sure about taking part, but I will be cutting back and off. Tag me to videos if you can. This pass week I fell completely off horribly.Im saying more grace for me Lord lmbo. Climbing back on this horse, I don't give up. It's so rough when your so use to eating certain things, only those working on changing things understands where I'm coming from. Thanks for responding, wish I was near you hard to find committed people to work out with that actually take it serious. And sometimes it's encouraging going along with others! Your awesome ❤

Great video! Love your easy KISS method to the whole 30. It doesn't need to be hard. I have been loving trader Joe's coconut aminos,. Have you tried them yet. Just 2.99 a bottle. Great deal and whole 30 compliant.

I totally forgot that Trader Joe's has coconut aminos! I'll have to swing by at some point. Unfortunately the closest one is a good 30 minute bus ride away from me so I hardly go there anymore.

I used to! I’ve used Instacart. It saved me when I was working full time and finishing my Masters. The only reason I don’t anymore is because I now own a car and work from home, so I have time to shop. But I used Instacart for years. The only downside is sometimes the produce isn’t great, depending on the store. But the product I’d order from Costco through Instacart was always good!

I've was all ready to use them for Costco and last minute changed my mind due to what people were saying about the amount for tipping... Way too much. I've heard that Albertsons delivers and does not allow tipping. I guess I need to research more. tu

So when I used it, you could choose how much to tip. But tipping was still required. The delivery people are similar to Uber. They aren't full time employees so the tipping really is to help them. For me, it was still worth it. But only because I didn't own a car and would have had to pay for a ride home with my groceries. Which would be about the same amount as a tip. But yes definitely check with your local supermarkets! A lot of them are starting to offer delivery. Or a big thing now is they will shop for you and have it ready for when you arrive. So you just need to drive them and grab your bags. That might be cheaper than delivery.

Hi!!! :) Have been behind on my you tube veiwing. Hope you are well! Will have to catch up. Not doing the whole 30. Still pregnant. Having a boy soon. Due the end of this month so anytime now. Gonna step up diet changes after I give birth, I will be nursing so probably not cutting out whole food groups but going to step up my meal planning game and incorporate more whole foods in general. May shoot for a whole 30 sometime next year... Not sure.

+Arlene Nipp yay! So the rules are free on the Whole30 website. I linked it in the description box. There is no sign up or money or anything to do it. You just read the rules and commit to do it yourself. I'll have videos to help. And the official Whole30 will be posting all over social media too. Check out their website and Instagram 🙂

Glad to see a new video from you! I really want to do a whole30 because I have fibromyalgia. I'm on medication for it (per my rheumatologist) and she suggests I eat a Mediterranean diet. I haven't been able to find out what foods triggers my fibro, and I want to do a whole30. However, I am naturally thin and have a high metabolism. Would you recommend the whole30 for someone who is NOT trying to lose any weight? I know that's not the goal of the whole30, but for me it's easier to lose weight rather than gain it (not complaining lol) and I can't afford to lose any weight. I'm scared if I cut too many things out, I'll drop a lot of weight. Any advice is welcomed!

Hi Sarah! Sorry it took me a full week to respond. So...it gets tricky when recommending whether or not to do a Whole30 with health reasons. Yes, it is VERY easy to accidently lose weight on the Whole30. Not just because you cut out things like sugar. But mostly because when you cut out food in general, people always forget you need to eat MORE of what you are eating. You can do a Whole30. But you will need to really concentrate on increasing portion sizes of others foods. Make sure to eat a good solid portion of protein at every meal. Add a good serving of fats like avocado, coconut oil, ghee, nuts. I would talk to your rheumatologist. See why she suggests the mediterranean diet. See what she says about the Whole30. For me, my triggers are gluten and dairy. So maybe she'll suggest a modified gluten-free version of the mediterranean diet? Also let me know what she says and what you decide to go with. If you need any help putting together meals, I'm definitely here.
