@@Casablancacyclist why? GPS will make it bulky and kill battery life. If you need GPS i think best is to use a combo with smart watch. In my opinion GPS is a dead end here for whoop
It does look like the AI just hallucinated. It knows what a whoop is and just extrapolated what the potential use of a screen would be. If it’s actually true, though, I’d be pretty surprised. Only way I see it not suck would be if the screen is just an e-ink display with a single number you configure in the app (maybe recovery) that is non interactive. Battery life wouldn’t suffer much either in that case.
Or maybe just tell the time and heart rate. Like on a garmin instinct. As long as you don’t get notifications on the band I don’t see an issue. Unless you really don’t want to know your heart rate at any point in time because that distracts you.
I absolutely agree. This would make Whoop so much more interesting for runners. I know many runners who don't consider Whoop because it doesn't have screen and GPS. Adding a slide-on screen with GPS could solve this problem even for Whoop 4.0. And at the same time you can still choose not to have a screen for all the reasons we love Whoop now.
Whenever I get tempted to move away from my AW Ultra, I get drawn back to the your ‘Disconnect’ video. One of my favourites. You need to have more subscribers and viewers BTW - love the videos. Better quality than most out there, and definitely less dickish than some of those reviewers out there! Keep up the good fight Brandon!
I think that would depend on what type of screen. Personally I wouldn't mind a minimalist screen. Something that could display heart rate and some other basic metrics
Yeah it really does depend on what the screen would be like but the more the owner and founder posts the less likely I believe it will have anytime of screen or display
LED to show Red, Yellow, and Red would be great. So that you know how much strain you are hitting and if you are hitting your target heart rate or push.
Chances are this is just AI hallucinating, if they've not given much public info or announcements on Whoop 5 they're not likely to have leaked any info to the AI. When I ask the AI, it says it doesn't have an information about Whoop 5.0 because I asked will it come with a screen. I asked if Whoop will ever have one and it says they don't have plans to because they want to keep the device light and focus on insights. GPT does this as do other LLM, sometimes they'll know what they don't know. Sometimes they'll be fooled into giving an answer and give an answer based on probability between the question asked and the information it has and if it lacks information on the Whoop 5 and if isn't trained on that, it's gonna give you a made up answer it thinks is the most probable and the question asked asserts that the Whoop 5 has a screen so it probably assumed that statement to be true.
I’ve always liked the Whoop in concept due to the lack of screen, however I wear a watch and didn’t see the merit of paying that much per month for a fitness device when I could just buy another one outright that also functioned as a watch. It feels like whoop is trying to target me with this, their flawed assumption is that I would give up my Garmin for any other wearable. I like Garmin way too much. I would love if the whoop app would import the Garmin data and use that for the insights. I think adding a screen will alienate their current base without gaining too many new users.
I think you’re right. I just don’t see them doing a screen better than the other screened wearables - they would have to offer some mind blowing features for me to wear two devices with screens
I'd personally love a low-tech digital screen with 80's digital watch functions only - time, date, stopwatch, and maybe a simple alert that instructs you to go to the app. I'd also love it if they made it completely solar powered.
100% agree on this! a tiny little oled black and white screen that just displays time and maybe Miles/kilometers during workout etc. just very basic, but no way do I want a big ass screen on there.
Used to have a Whoop but the subscription model just didn't do it for me anymore. Tooo many subscriptions in my life already. Currently my Apple Watch Ultra does everything for me. I did subscribe to you when I first got the Whoop. Great content, keep it up!!
What would be nice is upgrade whoops memory up to 24 hrs instead of only 3 hrs. So we can be away from all the screens and focus on the run or workout or family or job and not have to get realtime destractions.
Gonna be honest here - the main reason I don't LOVE my Whoop is the lack of being at least able to tell the time on it. I have a newer Garmin watch and while I love it - I love the Whoop app and feel it's a bit more accurate in certain areas. But the reason I'm stuck wearing both is to tell the time. And I am starting to hate that. Got away with it in the Winter because of long sleeves, but not trying to look like a weirdo in the Summer (no offense to those who do wear two devices, but just seems a bit much for me).
I normally wear a mechanical watch on the left wrist and Whoop on the right. During workouts (mostly running) I wear a Garmin on the left. Works for me
I’ve been on the fence about whoop since I started using Superset on the Apple Watch anyway but I agree with you… if you’re gonna have a screen on your wrist, might as well be one that can deliver notifications, Apple Pay, etc. as well as fitness data
I agree with a with and without screen approach 7:28 . I had an opportunity to interview with a Product Manager at Whoop and said no on screen. That answer seemed to resonate with the PM I won't wear two screens and Apple Watch wins.
I almost own every device from whoop to apple watch and garmin all top end of each but after turning to 42 now i kinda ditch them all and stick to normal no date luxury watches 🤷🏻♂️ the only one i get back to is whoop because it has no screen i just wish the has steps counting feature !!!
I also think the AI is hallucinating here and making stuff up. The only screen I would accept is a tiny LCD display like you would find on an old casio, starting and stopping an activity from the strap would be handy with maybe a super simple bar that shows your strain score / optimal zone
There are two improvements I wish for: 1) Please include a timer that buzzes at the end. It’s basically impossible to train your swimming (based on time in water) when there is no way for the whoop to tell you how long you’ve been swimming for. 2) GPS. I don’t need a screen, put please track my routes when I run. I guess I should switch to a Garmin, but I love the style of the whoop.
I specifically chose a Whoop because I’m a professional dog groomer. I constantly receive bites from dogs, and have my arms submerged in water. My Fitbit broke in under a month. Whoop’s strength is durability and placement options. A screen would never survive my lifestyle.
This product is great but only for the first 2-3 months. After that you start to understand what you need to do. So in my personal experience it’s great for short term.
Yeah if you're someone that can run some good self experiments then you can gleam what you need off the short term, but I've been using it for 4 years and I'm constantly learning new things about myself.

If there is a screen on whoop 5.0 then i am out. Only thing i would love them to add is something that can count my steps. IF whoop decides to put a screen on the 5.0 please keep the 4.0 available.
The only way I could see a screen being useful would be for strength trainer entirely from the wrist I hate having to have my phone on me while I tap through my workout. But that’s literally it.
I literally just put my whoop 4.0 in an arm band because I hate having things on my wrist. But I have allowed the whoop for 6 months. I honestly feel relieved w/o a wrist weight. So to speak. If whoop gets a screen… I’ll just go to an Apple Watch for the Apple ecosystem.
I would find it interesting if they had multiple devices. If there is 5 that is the same design as the 4 but upgraded internals AND a device that is a watch, you could choose what's best for you. I do also agree that a Apple Watch app and/or partnering with Garmin to get your data on there would be great as well. I find that more and more the sport watches only add value with running because knowing pace and HR zones is very important. It would also be cool if the Whoop app for Apple Watch works like athlytic if it were possible. Although I find myself wearing my apple watch less and less because the whoop is more comfortable. Kind of a long winded way of saying I hope the 5 is the same as the 4 but if they offered a smart watch/smart watch app integrations that would be fine.

I kinda like whoop the way it is. I'm not against a screen but if it does It still needs to be able to be charged without being taken off. I wish Apple and other watch companies would figure out how to charge without taking it off. I don't care if it covers the screen for an hour or so... Its fine don't make me have to leave it behind while I go about my day to charge.
You can ask the whoop coach why Whoop 5.0 won't have a screen and it will gladly give you an answer... The AI is just trying to tell people what they want to hear.
What if they did a Whoop 5.0 and a Whoop 5.0+ or Whoop 5.0Pro? (so a newer whoop that is what you want, one with and one without a screen) Though they are the minority, there are clearly people that want a screen. Maybe they don't want an Apple Watch or Samsung watch but want the screen that those provide for quick time check etc... I'm not even a Whoop user, I can NOT get behind a monthly subscription for data on my metrics

I could see where you’d think that however I can assure you I understand the ease at which AI can “Hallucinate” - this is a speculatory video to get a conversation going. Alongside legitimate rumors of 5.0 being different.
Sometimes it waits until you don’t have a night sleep, then it converts your afternoon nap to the sleep of the day… But the problem is when u have a sleep after your night shift it considered as a nap !!! And your recovery is ruined. What I do, is converting the nap, detected after my night work, to a sleep. Then automatically it converts the sleep (which was originally a nap from yesterday) to a nap. And your recovery is recalculated…
Whoop Coach is pretty much useless and hallucinates constantly making things up. That said, Whoop has the best chance, with its form factor, to do anything they want, remember they have a battery attachment for the band, they could easily add a screen to a battery pack, so people could attach it to the pod ad use it only when really needed, while keeping the distinctive non-intrusive form factor in the rest of the occasions. I mean, the added battery and screen would be huge for ultrarunners, and dreaming even more, they could put a gps chip in the screen/battery module, why not on the whoop 5 itself? Because the fitness band form factor(maybe for the small dimensions) showed to be hardly compatible with gps antennae(fitbit charge is an example).
I’m on the fence about buying whoop and don’t want another screen and just need to see the time. LED, 12h and 24hr, set from the app, very low light, red for zero blue light.
