Ever the booster for Indiana, Bill Oesterle is spending his final days doing what he has long done: trying to keep, and bring back, good people to a state with the cool factor of a Cracker Barrel. His focus on people has guided his other decisions, including the battle over the 2015 Religious Freedom Restoration Act. (Kelly Wilkinson/IndyStar)

One of the nicest human beings I have ever had the privilege to meet and know. We could all learn a lot from Bill!

I consider Bill a good friend. His outlook on life hasn’t changed in the 10 years or so I’ve known him (pre and post ALS). I had the privilege of teaching Bill how to fly aircraft and have many “sky memories” with my buddy. Looking forward to getting up with him again.

I lost my older brother 10 years ago to ALS. My brother was so happy the whole time. When he went into extended care all the care aids and nurses loved him he always had a smile on his face. Laughing and joking around. He past away 11 months after diagnosis.

He died in early May too young. He was one of the best people I've ever known and his passing is a loss for Indiana.

Easier when you have money for all the caregivers. ALS is a beast.

What a wonderful man, someone who has lived life, given back plenty, and has so much gratitude, as he says himself 'there is some beauty in that' Sometimes we wait until we reach a respectable age to say we have lived well, it should be like this..

The only way anyone could ever look forward to death is knowing that they’ll spend eternity with God. Without a personal relationship with Jesus, that’s not possible!

And they call Superman a hero! Lol! Oh, to have just a fraction of the strength and wisdom of this giant! If he could only bottle it!
