I see this argument in paintball as well, myself coming over to airsoft from that. Just as many for red dots as there are against. Everyones got their own methods, theories, and philosophies that help them with their game. For myself, I figure it comes down to the effective range of the airsoft gun, meaning how far can it hit its target reliably, and what tools and tactics you find helpful.

Red Dot all the way. When there is a top rail, I put a Dot on it, no matter if a rifle, pistol or shotgun. It also helps a lot when you get older. It's also quicker to aim and easier to shoot longer ranges.

Iron sights are so hard to use with eye and face protection on. Reflex sights are so cheap there’s really no reason not to have one.

Also check for parallax, it really matters

A red dot is just better, easy target aquisition, easy to setup and operate... The one thing i dislike is that they often use button batteries wich don't last a long time.

I've been wondering lately, when you load your mags do you count all of the 30 bb's one by one or you have some kind of modifications done to your mags (including mid/low-cap syndrome)?

I wanna find the perfect red dot, not some cheap that wont stay still if I turn my head

Red Dot makes you aim faster

nah sorry no need for them... they look good and have some function but not a must... trained without them... when issued a sidearm never used a red dot :)

Subjective Opinion/circumstantial situations. Outdoors? Maybe. Indoor CQB? Maybe. Speedqb? No. Also, as cool as it would be to get your opponent in one shot. Nobody’s as good as they think they are to get ‘em in one shot one kill.
