I think Drew and Punk killed it. I think the crowd was just torn by the end of the segment, they wanted to cheer CM Punk but Drew was spitting the truth and won some fans over and they were unsure who to cheer for.
I’m from India and ‘Faith No More’ has been my favourite band since GTA San Andreas. You guys talked about how music takes you back in time, and I couldn’t agree more. I remember listening to this music playing my favourite game, having the time of my life and fast forward 20 years, I’m 34 years old now and I know now what midlife crisis means. How life has come back full circle.
I love that they mentioned the Griff Garrison match because he is really good with a lot of personality, and hopefully will get more chances like that to grow, learn and move forward.
Great to see Adam just living his best life. He's given and continues to give so much back to the business. Personally I liked seeing him in the ring with Griff, it was like going back in time to see a young Edge. He nailed the promo and wrestled a solid match. Anyone looking to come up in the business can learn so much from Adam. All in all as a life long wrestling fan I love to see that one of my all time favorites is still wrestling
Not to dump on Dave's Cody-centric view here, but tbh Punk running down his list of people who won't stop him fits into a strong holding pattern to build to the Rumble: there's a number of different guys who each have their own unique motivations to win, so why would they act all benevolent towards each other in the run-up? It's every man for himself. Jey Uso has a unique motivation too, so it ain't like he should act supporting cast to Cody (or anyone else) either. He should say he should be the one to unseat the Tribal Chief, and he'll toss out all 29 other men to make it happen if necessary. Why wouldn't he? Same goes for Drew here. Doesn't mean everyone's a tweener all of a sudden, it just prods the audience towards taking more people seriously ahead of what's often one of the most predictable match results of the year. Cody's desperate! Drew's desperate! Punk's desperate! Jey's desperate! Something's gotta give, folks! Tune in live this Saturday on pay-per-view etc etc. Maybe that's why this segment may have felt a little weird. It isn't really in service of a direct one-on-one feud, but really only painting in shades of grey before the Rumble. Drew and Punk aren't really each other's endgame here.
7:52: LA Knight, Drew McIntyre, Cody Rhodes, John Cena (again), Solo Siko, Logan Paul, Gunther, Johnny Gargano, Sami Zayn, Shinsuke Nakumara, Bobby Lashley, Dragon Lee, Kevin Ownes (Televised Match not including the live event steel cage match), Montez Ford, Pete Dunne........................ I think there was enough for Edge to face off against in WWE before he may have went to AEW
I love Adam Copeland he’s my favorite man I said that because he’s such a nice human being he got me back into Watching wrestling Randy Orton too but he’s the one who got me into wrestling now I can’t stop watching it❤️
I was in Atlanta for Adams WrestleMania. We all thought it was his last. So happy he has more in the tank and can create more especially with some of the youngsters
Drew's character right now is brilliant. Yes, he is a heel but he is reasonable one who will do some bad things to mess people up. The segment between Drew and Punk was great and I am loving this royal rumble build-ups with promos between Rhea and Becky, Drew and Punk and Cody and Drew segments.
I'd love to talk to Adam about his love for music. How it gives him goosebumps and such, I've never felt understood by someone else talking about their love for Music. Alice in Chains are my all time fav
I love this podcast The breakdown from their point of view The psychology behind the performances If more fans listened to Bully they wouldn’t be so toxic starting pointless arguments. Subscribed. All alerts on. ❤
“I was excited to work with all the young guys” is a really cute way of saying Tony Khan gave me a shit ton of money lol there’s plenty of young guys in WWE and NXT Edge could’ve worked with
They keep implying that he's going to teach the younger talent, the difference between the last guy and Adam is Adam didn't come in there to critique. He came in to wrestle and he's passively helping the newer talent. Teaching isn't his main goal, but he's better at it than the guy who "wanted" to do it.
39:05 Thats why it was done. To make it personal to people like you, even wrestlers also to feel this way. This means working on people :D Cmoon please, it was perfect! Modern wrestling!
@14:08 Look, I know we scoff at match ratings, but when I hear "judged by people who never take a bump" I roll my eyes. You all spent time talking about music because you're fans and love it. I'm sure you've heard songs and judged whether they are good or bad. Now, show me your music degree. Show me the hit records you produced. Show me how skilled a singer or songwriter you are. Where are your credentials to be a proper judge of music? See? Its silly. It doesn't take a seasoned ring veteran to tell if a match is good or bad.
I disagree. Even the “pipe bomb” was scripted and Hunter pitched most of what Punk said. In AEW if you don’t pitch your own story, you don’t have a story majority of the time. No one is working from a script. If you can’t give a promo in AEW it’s apparent. In WWE it’s the opposite. Not saying one is better than the other, just stating facts
If he just wins all the matches it not really helping anyone i get his philosophy of the veteran helping the young guys but unfortunately the owner doesnt get that somebody has to pin him.
Look I will always love Edge. I cried my eyes out when he returned at the 2020 Rumble. I have neck issues. I know how impossible things can feel with those. But Edge is in AEW because WWE wasn't interested in using him much anymore. He's frigging Edge, yes, but since his return... how much value has he really had? I don't feel like his work in the last few years has been all that great. Lots of hardcore/hell in a cell/no dq matches to hide how much wrestling ability he's actually lost. And I think the audience, as much as they pop at his music, kinda ho-hummed through his matches. They still cared about Edge, but they didn't care about any of the angles or storylines he was in anymore. There's all sorts of young talent in WWE/NXT he could work with, but WWE would rather have visibly young talent vs visibly young talent for the visual effect alone than older talent. There's a few exceptions still Punk/Roman/Lesnar, but those are guys who are genuine mega-stars that get people talking. And notice how they (even with the VERY FRESHLY RETURNED PUNK) are not on every show. That's by design. WWE wants there product to be 95% young talent only. Not just the wrestlers. Besides Michael Cole, all of WWE's commentary, ring announcers, backstage interviewers are YOUNG, ATTRACTIVE TALENT. Edge is in AEW because WWE didn't want to work him as often as he wanted to work. Same as Big Show. Same as Mark Henry. Same as Christian. Same as JR. Same as Ziggler.
Edge joined aew for this reason he wanted to be with christian his best friend he wants to help younger guys and talent and ofc they stupid amount of money tony would have offered him and to keep his familys future the best he possibly can. Edge has deserved all of this an amazing wrestler. The moments Adam has created has defined wrestling the TLC matches just incredible. Edge is always looking for a challenge he thrives for that. The Freedom to do what u want to do story line wise.
CmPunk mad?!? Naw, as much shit as he’s popped he knows someone gon get him now n then!! Dope segment, honest truth left feeling like it was as even if not 51/49 punk cause he got to rebuttal & end it
Why they lying to edge/adam aew a mess the match with him and christian is good the storyline horrible with nick wayne mom..him wining and losing the belt in 20 seconds
Your whole comment shows you aren't actually paying attention to AEW. The patriarch storyline is great, and especially because Adam was raised by a single mother, so..... unless you are completely clueless you should be able to see how the story arc can come full circle between Adam and Christian.
Watching this video made me think back to MY first ever wrestling clip. And now that I think about it… it was that time when Randy Orton kissed an unconscious Stephanie McMahon. EDIT: I am NOT trolling
I’ve just never been an Edge/Adam fan. He’s seems a lovely guy and he’s a solid wrestler. I just never felt he had real star quality. He had a big mid card or upper mid card vibe. He wasn’t quite slick enough in the ring, or powerful and explosive enough. Likewise the body was always average as was the talk. For me the legends, the true greats have at least one of these. Just my feelings. As a guy who started watching in 90 perhaps he wasn’t quite what I was looking for. I have to respect how far he’s gone and the amount of fan support he’s gotten. Obviously there are many others who love him.
I thought Drew and Punk was great. For me the only thing missing was a headbutt from Drew when Punk stepped real close. I also had the same reaction looking at the visual of Punk next to Drew. I was like nah you're not knocking that dudes teeth anywhere. I also know Punks not going to have any physicality until the Rumble itself.
TK really signed the golden goose here, yeah he is not the "draw" that CM Punk can be, but by teaching youngsters the ropes, specially with this CopeOpen, man, he is really nurturing and polishing young talent, which is the future of the company.
38:20 not even tryna defend cm punk regardless of him losing in ufc, he got accepted with no fights. A non ranked dude in a random promotion destroys drew in a real fight those muscles mean nothing if he has no training. Edit: Brock, Bobby, Shinsuke, and punk all have done mma and would legit beat the whole roster. Seth does a lot of grappling work as well so maybe him.
It's obvious to me, so obvious that it's probably only in my head hahahahaha. But who else thinks Drew is joining the Judgement Day and Damien Priest is out. Priest will cash in and Drew will go after that belt.
How was the Adam/Christian feud good? These hosts will just say anything to butter the guests. You could have asked a question without brown-nosing, that is an option I assure you.
i believe Jinder way more than Drew. I'd cheer Drew before LA Jobber. I've always liked Cody more than any of that group of guys. Stardust was way better than Drew, Jinder and LA Jobber combined.
@@pleutron because you don’t get wrestling when every else is behind those guys and likes those guys. It’s only a small vocal minority of you niche fans that don’t like those guys
