Honestly before we think about implementing a single payer healthcare system we must think about American health in general. Americans on average live such an unhealthy lifestyle that a single payer system would eventually become a burden to everyone… Maybe we should teach our children to be healthy first, feed them nutritious meals at school, have them work out on a regular basis, incentivize sport activities outside of school etc… Even the military came out and said the shape of our youth, and eventually adults when they grow older, is a threat to national security, as there will be less and less able bodied men who can serve… That of course would require a reform in our school system and honestly I dunno what is less likely to happen at this point, M4A or school system reform…

"...So I want you to understand I really want you to understand really really want you to understand if you don't see Bernie Sanders take on everything you ever thought he should take on that's okay you know there is non profits like Real Progressives is a non profit It's a 501C3 where Real Progress in Action is a non profit but it's a 501C4. We can sit there we can say the things Bernie Sanders can't while he's trying to curry favor with the establishment. He's trying to win an election amongst people who f***ing hate him, okay? The guy is hated by the Dem establishment so that means that WE not me US comes into play, right? If there are groups out there that can fight for election integrity they should be doing it. They shouldn't be kicking the legs out from under Sanders they should be doing the hard work for him because he's got think about this he's advancing a Green New Deal, he's advancing Medicare for all, he's advancing a FJG, he's advancing child care as a right, he is advancing infrastructure, he's advancing expanding Social Security, he has elevated Stephanie Kelton the MMT economist that has made all of the stuff possible. He has done more for us in his one little pinky than most of us will ever do in our entire lifetime..." "...Our alternative Media has a responsibility this is the not me us movement and it's not just to take the cool edgy way for those people that don't like Sanders and kick his legs out from under him while he's advancing these ideas. You've got to understand how hard it is and I think we all see it by the way I don't think this is rocket science. I think we all see that trying to get centrist Democrats that have been tormented and tortured their own way with the red scare McCarthyism all the other stuff that the Boomer generation went through with duck and cover, you know all the fear of Vietnam they've carried the scars of the red scare their entire lives they've been tainted by fears of the word socialism so to their credit they're scared they've been lied to. It's out job outside the election season and during the election season to explain these things to them so when it comes time for the election season that they are in fact listening but what you've got is this tilted you know like those Ira glasses okay where the upper age groups voted for Biden or supported Biden and then you've got everyone down below the entirety of the whole country supported Bernie so you know things are changing but we've still have plenty of time in my opinion right here right now if we don't squander it chasing ghosts if the not me us movement decides that we are going to advance these causes regardless regardless of the bull sh*t the establishment is pulling because of the very very unique nature of a pandemic because of the very very unique nature of what is about to come with the greatest depression of all folks I can't even tell you as a guy that understands economics I am watching this Tsunami come across and you guys have your back to it. Some of you guys think you might see it I am telling you most of you don't see it you don't even know what's coming because you've paid attention to other people talking about Bernie Sanders didn't say something or he called Joe Biden his friend and that got you distracted from watching the Tsunami come through. Sorry about that is just low hanging fruit that some of these alt media people will bang on to get likes and clicks but the Tsunami coming through is very real and it's going to harm your children it's going to harm you it's going to harm your friends and your neighbors. It's going to harm everyone in this country, black, white, gay, straight. There's going to be some rich people that survive it without any kind of real issue. There's going to be an incredible amount of pain coming and we can't sit there and worry about whether Bernie tried to curry favor by not pissing off all of the boomers that love Biden and have memories of Obama being a god and people that lived and died for the Clinton's. He's got to some how or another win just enough of their vote over to be able to make a difference because he's hoping that the people don't go ahead and start sh*t talking him moving off into some bizarro Tulsi land okay and that they stay firmly rooted in the movement so that he can go out there and curry those people that otherwise wouldn't give a progressive the time of day because they are still living in the McCarthyism era. That red scare is very real..." "...Go strolling through a Wal-Mart sometime and ask them what they think about the word Socialism? And watch them, their veins will come out of their head, well, I don't like Socialism f*** that Socialism thing. They don't even know what it means but they know they hate it. That's how powerful the propaganda has been. So Bernie had to HOPE AND PRAY THAT HE COULD COUNT ON THE FAITHFUL TO NOT DEPART AND GO CHASE AFTER lesser stags or stagettes and that they would stay firmly in his camp and not sh*t talk him while he tried to work the back doors to get past these bozos in the establishment. It's a tough gig man I wouldn't want to do it I won't do it so it's kinda hard for me to poke holes in it but I can tell you I see the errors, not the errors he did, but the errors we did..." Just Me you are a silly fanboy. I hold leaders accountable. Bernie is a fraud by his own beliefs and statements and contrary actions. He is lockstep with the Establishment he rails against giving them everything they demand and crumbs for the rest is us. You will see sooner or later. I’m muting you now as I want no more dialogue.
I was a type 1 diabetic Canadian who lived for 20 years in the USA. I left in 2021. Their healthcare system has very much EARNED the title "Byzantine Nighttmare" during my time there. It's why I'll not return to work there for the rest of my life.
As a Canadian in Ontario, I’ve never waited more than a couple hours for help in a hospital. I haven’t spent more than 20 bucks for treatment and that was from the gift shop.
My husband had a stroke, he was in the hospital for a few weeks and then a rehab hospital for a few weeks. They’ve given us supplies for his feeding tube, they’ve paid for the medications and the food he needs thank you Canada. He’s recovered so well he’s going back to work soon. The the other day we got our one and only bill, $45 for the ambulance. I am in a medical care for all country. My family is almost completely recovered from this and with the additional support he’s changed his health habits around completely. Many more years of us paying our taxes contributing to society and economy and raising an even healthier family.
You can vote for Bernie all day long, but - Sorry not gonna happen !! Electronic Voting machines are programmed to elect Biden !!! Yeah, that's right - your vote doesn't matter !!!
@@marcrow9114 Could you tell me how you get to sleep well at night while knowing that most of Americans cannot afford health care and among whom many die because of that?
@@ming45612 I wouldn’t tarnish all American patriots with the same brush though, 98% of them are just hard working honest people who love their country and support pretty normal stuff
@@tommyfortress7515 yeah because 2% of Trumps followers raided a government building. You know that would be like 3 million people right? Besides. Black lives matter did far worse for 3 months and the media didn’t say a word. Hypocrites the lot of them.
I almost lost my cousin because she was struggling financially and didn't want to get a check up when she started feeling bad for a few weeks. Her friends and family finally convinced her to go and they were able to catch her quickly worsening anemia in time before it seriously hurt or killed her. I wonder how many people weren't as lucky. But God forbid private insurance companies don't get to rake in billions while not really providing for us.
Imagine trying to push a ludicrous gun ban, yet can't spell "privilege". Also how does the right to defend yourself not tie into the right to afford medical bills? If anything, being pro "RTBA" is being pro health.
@@tgdelta2455 Imagine not knowing the difference between gun ban and gun control. And if someone can't go to the hospital despite needing it how healthcare is right? Right to healthcare would be when someone can go to the hospital no matter what like in Polish constitution. Guns won't treat broken bone or cancer unless you take hostages in hospital
Not even. Most of their reactions is that it’s tax thief. I once had a conversation with a conservative voter who argued that of course rich people should pay less taxes in percentage cause over all their absolute dollar amount is more. And I honestly was baffled and was like okay so you making $50,000 should pay more overall in percentage in taxes than my friend making $250,000 at Amazon cause he pays more. He’s not a business owner, just a dude who chose CS as his major in college but you think him only paying 18% of his earnings in federal taxes while you have to pay 30% is fair!?!? That mentality is literally welfare for the wealthy but the people who hold these beliefs aren’t small in number here, they aren’t rich either, and it’s devastating.
Outstanding video, very informative and H. Jon Benjamin is extremely calming and soothing. It's interesting how the majority of Americans are interested in M4A. Funny how only super wealthy people don't want others to have healthcare. Remember friends, the rich are our enemy. Nothing in this world will fundamentally change until we deal with the true root of all problems: The Rich, The 1%, The Billionaires, The Corporations, etc. They are the source of most problems and most misery in the world. The majority of bad things, if you "follow the money," all trace back to them. As long as they exist, and continue to wield power, this world and it's people will never be free.
I got a scholarship for one semester at UC Berkeley. The mandatory health insurance by the university would have cost me $1200 for that time, but had an excess of at least $250 for every doctors visit and did not cover dental treatments. So I asked my German insurance company for their best and most extensive foreign health insurance (you need very good insurance to waive the mandatory campus insurance). I now paid 350€ for the same time. But without any excess I had to pay and with dental treatment included. Even foreign insurance companies insure people in the US cheaper than US companies do...
I was born with a cleft palate and I had plastic surgery to fix it, at a cost of 0.00 GBP. When I was 14 years old I fell out of a tree and tore a ligament in my neck, I needed a bone graft from my hip to my neck and this was a lot of hospital visit, at a cost of 0.00 GBP At university I broke my arm and that cost 0.00 GBP (also when I went to university education was free and the government was giving me 1450 GBP per year to pay for my living expenses because I was living with my parents, otherwise it would have been 4500 GBP). A few years later my appendix needed to be removed and that was also 0.00 GBP. There have been a range of other visits to the doctors and it's all free of charge. Now I've moved to Germany and I pay 270 Euro's per month, it's not so good here.
I once had surgery in my toe, I'm from Denmark the total amount I spent was 5$ because of some ibuprofen I bought that I ended up not using, so in theory it might as well be 0$.
It's so weird to think that public healthcare is a hot topic in USA. For me it's such a basic thing that I don't even think about it. How can a society even live without one of these?
Sad we'll never have healthcare like this in the US, our corporate and elite overlords would never want to do anything in the benefit of the common man that doesn't involve bleeding every cent they can from them.
I'm from Austria. Last year I was brought to the ER by ambulance, they did some EKG, blood work etc. When I was released, I payed EUR 0,- That is freedom
