@@alexandrescu2000 Takes me back to the reception you guys gave Ange when he arrived. He’s done his job, got you your trophies, and now he’s moved on. After poaching him from Japan, you got a reasonable return, though perhaps, in retrospect you’ll be saying, 5 out 6 wasn’t good enough. Who knows?
@@glennmaillard5972 If you. had looked a tiny bit deeper into my comment, you would have seen that I didn't mention Brisbane. I said that Tifo had covered Angeball over a year ago. Which he did. He was at celtic at the time. How do you get through the day?
@@kaisersolo76 Yeah I can see Ange not finishing the season with Spurs because of that baldy. Good for Ange though, he will win trophies with his next club lol
As a rangers fan, so glad to see this guy leave scotland. I remember almost two years ago, celtic were predicted to be 5 years away from challenging for the title after rangers went through an invincibles season, needing a major rebuild. When the Ange links started, I remember almost everyone in Scotland, regardless of what side of the Old Firm you’re on, felt that he was completely out his depth, considering Celtic had Rodgers in recent times. But let me tell you something, when Ange gets his team firing, they are absolutely terrifying to play against. Completely dominated the Old Firm during his tenure, playing really entertaining football (as much as it hurts to say). I even remember watching Celtic play madrid at parkhead, and althought they lost, they outplayed real for large parts of the game, and should’ve definitely won. If he can get the patience from Levy, theres no doubt in my mind that he will perform well, and thank f*ck he’s away from scotland😂👍🏽
Still confuses me how people don’t think Australia have any sense, smarts or interest in Football. We are literally 7 places above Scotland (who are going through an impressive period for their standard) in the world rankings. Further, I would say the J-League have better teams across the board, so arguably a more difficult league than Scottish. Not to mention that Japans ranked 17 higher than Scotland
Melbourne Greek Boy whose followed Ang the whole Journey, hes a Hidden Gem! everywhere hes gone hes been doubted but hes proven himself, i'm so proud of him!
Glad to see an Aussie manager in the Prem, especially at a (well at least historically) big club. He's had a bit of a wild ride to get there, but always keen to support an Aussie in the big leagues.
As an Aussie. Ange has revolutionised football in the country from the "Roarcelona" team to bringing through a lot of youngsters through the Australian team. I wish him all the best.
He was hated by the end of his Australia tenure. He forced a team of physical bricklayers to play an awful formation for their ability and they snuck into the world cup via messing it up at every step. He is brilliant when he has the troops, but a national team job where you can't buy players, and the current players don't fit the system he was hopeless, because as mentioned here, he refuses to change.
@@judgejudyandexecutioner.5223 The biggest problem was ange-ball just didn't work on the cow paddocks of Vietnam, Thailand that they were calling football pitches. Those surfaces, plus the dip in available young talent due to the changes in Australia's development pathway (National Curriculum and shutting down the AIS) were not kind to Ange. We were so close to dropping out of the 2018 World Cup
I was critical of Ange when he was in charge of Australia but he has grown as a manager over the years. I'm excited to see the first Aussie as a manager in EPL. I will be a Tottenham supporter while he is there.
I actually think they will. As JJ says, Spurs are no longer a top four club, and even if Kane stays (which is no certainty), they’re a long way from winning a trophy. I honestly think if Ange clears out a lot of the squad dead wood, brings in some exciting young players from the youth teams, Asia or elsewhere, and shows the intent of playing attacking football, that will be a good enough season for Spurs fans even if they finish 8th again. The benefit Ange has is no European football, allowing him to focus on the league and maybe even a deep cup run. As well as just having more time to convey his ideas to the squad.
As a Spurs supporter, at the moment the thinking currently is that we just want to watch entertaining attack minded football. It has been 3 years of miserable, boring, slow play with sitting back and getting battered for 90 minutes. So if people boo after a slow start, they are crazy. Unless it's Nuno levels of bad...
Arsene Wenger came from the J.League which Postecoglou came from as well. They need to give Ange time and resources, the same thing Arsenal did with Wenger.
He's tremendous. People don't realise that Celtic were an absolute mess from top to bottom when he came in. They lost a chairman, CEO, manager and captain after an utterly shambolic season. He only arrived about 2 weeks before his first competitive game and could barely field 11 senior players. He turned it around while playing incredible football. He won't tolerate laziness or players who don't want to be there (including Kane). If Spurs can show some patience then he'll be a success.
Celtic have won 9 of the last 10 league seasons. They would have won with or without Ange statistically. Rangers stealing a win off Celtic with Gerrard is actually more impressive.
@@user-bp1be1yg2h That's the view of people who don't pay attention. For the vast majority of the last 10 years Celtic were miles in front, but not when Ange arrived. Like I say Celtic were coming off the back of a shambolic season on and off the park and a team that needed a full rebuild after some dreadful recruitment. He turned it around and won the league I'm his first season against a Rangers team that reached the Europa League final, rebuilding the whole squad and playing brilliant football
@@sigfigronath Very true, but Poch hasn't won anything of note compared to Mourinho and Conte either and he was a better fit for Spurs than those two imo. I think Ange might outperform all of them but it will be difficult, not an easy job.
You’re absolutely right that he will not deviate from his style under any circumstance. When Celtic played Real Madrid to open up the Champions League he insisted we were going to make Real adjust to us, not the other way around. And honestly, Celtic did as well as they possibly could and hung around with them for most of the game. If he’d stayed at Celtic one more year I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Ro16 appearance. He’ll do great at Spurs as long as Levy will get out of his way and he gets afforded patience.
As a celtic season ticket holder I've had the pleasure of watching big ange's style of play. Yes celtic have little competition in Scotland and under previous managers it started to feel like a chore going to watch them even though we were still winning. I've not missed a game for 2 years now as I loved watching us play. Ange managed to get the players with the pace and stamina required to play his way with a small budget compared to spurs. With the crazy budget he'll have then the sky's the limit. Good luck ange thanks for the memories and you'll never walk alone
With Udogie and Porro being proven scoring full backs I'm excited to see some exciting tactics at Spurs since the year before Poch left! Also, me and a mate once randomized Brisbane Roar, and beat another pair of mates who randomized Barcelona on FIFA back in like 2011. So always had a soft spot for them. Berisha was a monster up top
I'm a Brisbane Roar fan, so I'm really excited for Ange. Unfortunately I'm also an Arsenal fan, so I'm programmed to hate Spurs. So here's to hoping Spurs finish Top 4, but behind Arsenal
when i went to australia, i literally saw 0 football fans. 0. i think its probably because of the 2022 AFL Grand Final which took place around that time. glad aussies are involved in this sport too.
He reminds me of Bielsa. Im naive on Postecoglou, but hearing how he sticks to one focus only and style regardless of outcome is admiring and what I love from managers. Watching Leeds under Bielsa’s reign attacking regardless of having a lead or playing a top team always made Leeds exciting. I’ll definitely love to see Tottenhams progression down the line now! Very exciting!
Ange has been picked up on the mic's a few times at Celtic. He has been heard screaming to stop passing it back even when we were 3 or 4 goals up. In the 2 years he was with us at Celtic i only seen the team take the ball to the corner once with a couple of minutes left on the clock. He said he wasn't happy about it but he isnt on the pitch and they were so he would accept it that time. Never seen it happen again. I hate that he left Celtic but i don't blame him for it. If he gets the time to get the team playing the way he likes they could be very good.
I would say Ange has evolved a little and is more pragmatic now days, but still sticks to his guns. Spurs will go into every game thinking they’re a winning chance and that’s what every supporter wants.
I'm so sad to see him go, but he's utterly transformed Celtic in his short two years at Celtic Park. We have the strongest squad in recent memory, with unreal fitness, mentality and hunger, and Ange has moulded them into ruthless winners. The fans have had our standards raised, which beggars belief after the last 10 to 20 years we've had, and the board likely knows we expect a replacement who can at least continue, if not build upon, Ange's success. Combine this squad with our eager fans, a board willing to spend to maintain progress and automatic CL football and I have full faith that we will find an able replacement. ... All that being said, they won't be Ange. He goes with our love, and we hope Spurs fans give him the time to have the same impact on all of you as he has had on us 🍀
That Brisbane roar team also set an Australian football record (accross all football codes) Most matches in a row without a defeat. 36 matches. And that’s in a salary capped league ladies and gentleman.
I’ve seen a lot of people saying managers don’t get time at Spurs. Poch did get time. People forget it took time for his team to come good. As long as he shows some spark he’ll get time.
Agreed. Nuno was an awful hire and Mourinho/Conte went well for a bit but then their massive egos got in the way and it just became incredibly toxic. I for one am extremely happy for the Spurs players that they can finally play under a decent human being again lmao
@@DG-rb7bo Poch is a good manager who organized Spurs early on and instilled belief. He lost faith though, and Spurs unravelled quickly when he left, probably started before he left. @@nevarmaorblablabla. Tottenham was already competing around 5th before Pochettino and when he started his core of starting players was already there. He reached 80 points once and fluked a UCL final. Lets be real. Tottenham isn't in a position to compete in the transfer market nor on the field as a top club because they simply aren't one. F*ck your expectations, in the real world Tottenham is gonna finish around 62 points because that's a usual number for teams competing around 5th.

Ange brought two A-League championships to Brisbane. We hadn't won one before he came and we haven't won since he left. But success aside, his football philosophy is so very attractive. I can't wait to see what he can do with Spurs.
JJ is right about needing to give him time. At us (Celtic), his start was even worse than JJ describes. We basically lost 3 of our first 6 league games in his first season, which was our worst start in God knows how long. If you give him that time, you'll be glad you did.
In his first season at Yokohama, he didnt do well but he was not sacked. In following seasons, he imrpoved the team gradually and finally won the league title. he would do something special in england if we was not sacked due to his first season poor performance .
I mean, CAN Tottenham get any worse? 😂 But yeah, Levy'll know this is a rebuild and not to bring him at all if they don't plan to let him change the style.
They started poorly and slowly improved in the first season. They had the third best attack in the league but the third worst defence, and he did take them to a Cup Final so the signs were there before he won the next season.
@@benjaminv6039 I'm a Gooner. Kinda hope he doesn't as I know Ange would land on his feet, but I strongly suspect Ange's got a plan he'll buy in to Poch-levels.
The problem is more on how spurs run as a club. Its always: Levy buys players he wants DoF buys players they think fits the manager Levy buys one player the manager wants to please him Then tell the manager to work with that.
I'm absolutely devastated to see Big Ang go from Celtic, he's such a lovable personality, and his football is immense. It hurts a lot seeing him go, and all I hope is that Spurs appreciate what they've got, I think he'll shock people if Levy gives him the support. But to be honest Levy unfortunately strikes me as the complete opposite of patience and long sighted project methodology.
Ange postecoglue is a top manager IMHO he has revolutionised every club he has been at.. Has a great eye for talent, with being able to bring in unknown technically gifted players for a bargain price, and then selling them on for a good profit.. His record speaks for it self.. His attacking brand of football will be ideal for a spurs team who are looking to remain in the top three or four 🙌
As a lifelong spurs fan I'm just happy that we don't have a diva who thinks he is bigger than the club and I want to finally see some positive football
I'm looking forward to the new season now whereas I couldn't wait for the last one to end. Time will tell how it works out but I think it'll be fun to watch.
When we appointed Mourinho, I said it would end in tears and it did. When we appointed Conte, I said it would end in tears and it did. I have a good feeling about Ange. COYS!
Postecoglou plays an Australian style of football which is quite unique. It is a style that is always attacking and pressing. The players are always moving and passing forward. Look at the official symbol of Australia, it's the kangaroo and emu, the only two animals that can't take backward steps, only forward steps. This shows how culture and environment can shape unique styles of football. This style would surprise the EPL like it has with the Scottish league.
I'm approaching the coming season with a lot of trepidation but also a lot of excitement. I've seen first-hand how good he can be, and I hope dearly that the fans of Tottenham give him the time and support he needs to reach that goal. If they don't, and if this plan goes to the dogs, one can only guess where they as a club will end up afterwards.
What most non-Spurs fans don't understand about Tottenham fans. Is Tottenham fans can be patient as long as we're getting great football and we can see progession.
Already waiting for the video "Why the appointment of Ange Postecoglou did not work out for Tottenham?" Seriously Levy, give your manager a chance to succeed!
I got to meet him in 2015, as I covered the Asian Cup for a Greek newspaper, and… wow, that Oz team was a marvel to watch, playing exciting football. I’ve been following him/his teams ever since, Yokohama F. Marinos, Celtic, always offering entertaining football to fans, and usually lifting trophies along the way. I wish him all the best.
I truly think Spurs aren't that far off from top 4. Having Harry Kane is obviously a massive factor but Son didn't perform, Richardson struggled, Kulu was hurt, Bentancur was fantastic until he got hurt as well I mean when Conte first joined until the end of now 2 seasons ago they had the most points in the league in that time, better than City so squad wise I don't think they're as far off as some think. If Ange can get a better suited 8, another CB and a GK through the door I wouldn't be surprised by a top 4 finish as they have nothing but the league to focus on.
Brighton played most of the time with many of their main players injured and still got the results and played legit and great football. Stop giving nonsense excuses. U guys even said u won summer transfer window🤣🤣🤣
@@mercurialthespectre1779 Not a Spurs fan so good attempt at a dig but swing and a miss lol but just watching the Prem its very easy to see what they're capable of. If Kane can score another 30 with Son back in form alone that puts them into top 6 conversation so if Ange could get the defense performing well they can seriously compete.
Ange learned from the same Dutch method that Guardiola learned from. Im not saying he is as good by any stretch of the imagination but they will play an attractive style and have a go
@@ausp5078 Total football: All Dutch youth teams in the Netherlands mainly play the philosophy of Johan Crijff. Attacking and attractive football with up and coming backs and wingers in a 4-3-3 formation. Possession, pressure, a goalkeeper who can also play good with his feets and all field players must be able to change positions during the game. The last Orange coaches Van Gaal, De Boer and Koeman played in 5-4-1 or 4-4-2 formations and even achieved third place in a World Cup and a final in the Nation League. Yet these trainers received a lot of criticism from the Dutch because they did not play with Cruijff's philosophy. It's not just about winning, playing beautiful football is also important.
Everyone whos doubting him has to realise alot of the celtic fans and especially the media said the same when he joined Celtic ( he hadn't managed in Europe and no one knew him) but celtic gave him time and he got rid of all the deadwood and put in place a fantastic " we never stop " constant attacking tactic with celtic . If given time at Tottenham i know he could be very successful playing high intensity football that Tottenham would suit . When he took over celtic it was seen as a "rebuild" job as Rangers were far ahead of us . But instead of a long term thing he put us back on top winning the treble in one season its fantastic. Also his knowledge of the asian market(players like kyogo, maeda and even mitoma bringing them over for pennies) unmatched. If spurs will actually decide to give a manager time im sure he'll be fantastic, he sticks by his philosophy of attacking football and will disregard anyone who doesnt fit into his plans which might be controversial at first but hes shown it works in the end
Anyone who says “I’m not convinced” is because they don’t know what they are talking about and don’t want to appear uninformed. This is a great hire for Tottenham, but needs the commitment/backing.
i think the reason why we beat man city and score against them so many times is because our defensive counter attacking formation works in our favor when playing against man city that is high press high possession football. however if we start doing high press as well we are competing with them for the same style, and the team whose been playing that way forever and are comfortable with keeping the ball etc will obviously always beat us especially with the quality they have in the mid field. we really need bentancur back and we need to buy good attacking midfielders. we also need solid cbs. cuz we cant defend for our lives atm
Spurs have so many players, they might not need to purchase many. Maybe a fresh start with a different formation, strong leadership from their Manager, and plenty of opportunity for anyone to stay. Yet, I feel they will need a more creative and energetic midfielder; along with the obvious striker and goalkeeper. They have plenty of talent and skill on the books, it's just about getting it to mesh well.
Davies and Emerson are actually perfect for the inverted full back roles, while Udogie and Porro/Spence potentially provide great options for the wider full back role. I think we can manage with one of Bentancur and Hojbjerg as the 8s, but we definitely need one more - Ward-Prowse might suit?
If Kane leaves and Spurs make some bad moves in the market it will not matter what Postecoglou does. That club is literally perched on the edge of a cliff, one shove and they are completely dead.
@@Saint0589 A week ago I wasn't convinced about selling him. I'm excited by the new manager though and think if Kane doesn't want to be part of it, and we can get decent money for him, might as well sell.
@@Saint0589 Even if they get 100 mil for him that is nowhere near enough for the level of improvement the squad needs. They'd need to replace his huge goal haul and also still be able to replace Lloris and improve the defence and midfield.
Spurs at the edge of a cliff?! They've had one bad season, not near as bad as the likes of Chelsea, and people think they're done?... Football fans seriously are the most reactive bunch of people imaginable.
The thing is, it looks like Kane will go, even if not this year, he will leave next year. If you want a manager to come in and not be bothered by this, then Ange would actually be that person.
Absolutely gutted that Ange has left cause this is the best celtic team in my lifetime, the results in Europe definitely don't reflect how well we played but I am worried he won't be given the time he needs to get this team going
Postecoglou's strengths are perfect for Scotland but mostly not relevant for a club like Spurs, and his main weakness will be a real problem. He is absolutely brilliant at spotting a player and finding value. But clubs in Spurs' market are never going to unearth gems in the J League; every player good enough for that level is already on a spreadsheet at every club. They have whole departments for scouting and recruitment. Celtic & Rangers are big, but they can't match that. His other big strength is motivation. That's obviously important everywhere but it's critical in Glasgow. Even in the English Premier League a wee bad spell can be accepted; at the old firm you need to win every week. A run with a couple of draws and a surprise defeat will cost you the league, and your job. Postecoglou is great at driving his squad on in every minute of every match, creating a sense of narrative and purpose that helps players dig deep within. His main weakness is tactical, and that is going to be a problem. I watched almost every minute of Celtic's group stage and knock-out European football, and their games against Rangers, and he is defensively naive. It's all fun and romance to go to the Bernebau and have a go, but they were shockingly and unnecessarily open in that match and in others. Postecoglou has a worse record in Europe than Lennon or Rodgers before him and that should have raised bigger question marks over his suitability to step up than seems to have been the case. I'm proud and defensive of Scottish football but let's be honest, Celtic only need to spend wisely and apply themselves throughout the season to win every trophy. That's what Postecoglou did excellently. I'm hoping I'm wrong, I like the guy and the club he's moved to, but I worry that after getting caught out on transitions over and over again he'll struggle to find a balance between defence and attack. Time will tell.
he has hit the nail on the head. Spurs have tried the big name managers and it brought them nothing. Hope they give him long enough to work a bit of magic
Levy hates giving managers what they need/want. Maybe if Ange insists to Daniel that he definitely *doesn't* want to change the squad, he can trick Levy into going out and actually buying some decent players. 😂
If Celtic are smart, they'll steal Graham Arnold and pay out his contract with Football Australia because there is no way in hell Football Australia can pay him enough vs Celtic.
Literally that is what he needs time. Spurs need a whole clean out. And Levy needs to not lose his nerve when there are bad results. The reason no one wanted the job is literally the mess left behind. Ange can fix it. His done it so many times and when they click holy crap and freaks me out because Spurs might actually win something
@@maciejbala477 Put it this way what you consider cheap for Postecoglu its a treasure cove. His always been restricted with tight budgets. What Spurs offer him is beyond anything. If he gets it right it will be equivalent to what Wenger did with Arsenal.
@@carlosciudadreal1842 He’ll buy players for $5,000,000 that will double in value within a month. In fact, that’s how he likes it as you know. He’ll be like a kid in a candy shop. ‘Can I buy this one? How much did you say? Okay, I’ll buy three.’ ✅
Pretty sure there were a lot of videos which also said why Jose mourinho/Antonio conte are perfect fits for tottenham and look what transpired after few months 😂 The thing is it won't be any different for postecoglu too. And the reality would sneek in after few months when he'll eventually get sacked by the balddie. The core of the problem here is the owners people are yet to understand this sadly. No matter whether you bring in the guardiolas or klopps or zidanes or even your local grocery shop employee as their head coach things still wouldnt change a bit..Miracles like pochettino doesn't happen very often.
Analysing some positions of need based on the current squad and suggesting possible incomings in the style of sensible transfers would be good. E.g. out of the full backs/wing backs, which can actually play inverted and centre mid seems like it will need attention as well as wingers who go 1v1 as Postecoglou likes. The role of Bentancur will be interesting as he is the type of progressive passer and presser that fits in theory, but does he really?
I think Porro can probably do the inverted thing well, we've seen a variety of passing in his arsenal so far at Spurs so I think he could do it even from non-traditional fullback positions. Son is probably better suited to the way Postecoglou wants his wingers to play than Conteball, but he's pretty much the only good 1v1 winger Spurs have (other than Lucas who's gone). Kulu can probably link up and interchange well with overlapping midfielders and fullbacks, so Postecoglou may be able to make him work there, but especially if we sell Kane we should probably bring in one winger who suits Ange ball better. Bentancur is probably good for the position if the other CM has a good deal of creativity but Spurs don't have that right now, not sure if Maddison is the answer tho since he's not that good off the ball
Superb analysis. This guy gets it and understands that Ange's teams are greater than the sum of their parts. He simply makes them play better because he's not only a great motivator, but a brilliant tactician.
Question isn’t if Ange is good for Tottenham, important question is , Is Tottenham good for Ange? Will Tottenham prove to be a step backwards for his career. It’s certainly not as big a club as Celtic(barring the money from PL)
I first went to see Spurs in 60-61 and that's the last time they won the league. I have lived in Brisbane and went to watch the Roar both before and during ANge. I saw how he transformed them. Will he win the Premiership??? No. Can he make them better? Yes.
I'm a Celtic fan. My take on Ange Postecoglou is that he is great at identifying what kinds of players he needs for his system to work. However, England has work permit rules more stringent than those of Scotland. Ange won't be able to sign 7 East Asian players who are ready to obey his every command and dedicate their lives to the club. Levy might not even let him, because Tottenham fans will be up in arms over Kyogo Furuhashi taking Harry Kane's place. Ange's problems at Tottenham will not be strictly football-focused, but rather, how to get what he needs from Levy, and how to get the players to take him seriously. Regarding the analysis: spot-on. However, in Australia, he apparently did use a 3-5-2 system. It's not impossible he adapts. On a Korean football channel I heard an opinion he might switch Sonny to CF.
He's a system manager, same as pep, potter, ETH ect. Alot of time is needed to settle the squad. Conte and Mourinho are serial winners, it's impossible for Conte and Mourinho to go a season without trophies but they did. He won't have alot of time, the fans and higher ups won't be patient. He has to be smart like ETH and slowly integrate his system and style of play.
The one thing about Ange is that he will not deviate much from whatever plan he has, there is little pragmatism from him. In the qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup, he had us playing great football in a pretty simple formation that suited our players, either a 433, or a 4231 with effectively double DMs. We were cruising to qualification. Half way thru he switched to a 3 at the back, with two wing backs because he thought it was a better way for us to play at the World Cup proper. So, effectively experimenting in the middle of the qualification campaign. We did not have the players to play this way. We didn't have the depth at CB, we didn't really have players that were comfortable as wing backs. Completely ruined the qualification campaign, players were confused, made stupid errors, he was too pig headed to revert back and we nearly missed the World Cup, dropped to third in our group and had to qualify thru the playoffs. Was very nearly a disaster for Australian football, all because of his avirice. I can see him succeeding at Spurs, as much as i can see him convincing Hojberg that he can be a ball carrying, underlapping number 10 and then him stuffing up and Spurs conceding. Either way, it will probably get Spurs the type of football their fans want, and i can see it being entertaining for the neutrals 😅 As always JJ, great vid.
Terrible take 😂😂 In a mediocre national team like ours, he has extremely limited options on players who play in the style he likes to play. He simply does not fit as a national coach unless he coaches pacey team who are in dominant teams that play attacking football and understand how to constantly press and recover. I always thought he would be a fantastic manager for Japan. How many Aussies play in quality clubs that have exposure to constant high press and can recover? Oh yeah, basically none! Then you look at his club success where he can now pick and choose players who are suitable for his play-style and all of a sudden, constant success for over a decade. Until you understand the vast difference between National and club setup you will continue to be clueless.
As an Australian, Ange would have killed it in the Prem since he left Brisbane a decade ago. Only issue I'd have is that cretan Levy meddling with his plans. Ange likes full control and if he gets that PLUS patience that it will take time to embed, he dominates
Serious Q to Spurs fans - why do you hate on the owners so much? Yes, they haven’t won cups, but not many teams do, and some cups aren’t really that glorious. But they’ve been to CL final (which they could’ve won), lots of top 4 finishes, state of the art stadium, big name hires, some great players like Kane, Son, Erikson, Modric, Bale, Walker etc. By most measures it’s been the most prosperous era of the club. Obviously the success has waned over the past few years, and their knack for selling players for big sums seems to have deserted them a bit. But also, life at the top has gotten tougher with even more state sponsored money and FFP flaunting. Personally, I think it’s a great sign that they have hired a more appropriate manager for their team - that will play entertaining footy, not toxic, is under-rated not over-rated and doesn’t have a management style that relies on having unlimited funding. As a non Spurs fan, I think being a British owned club that operates sustainably is something to be proud of. For many of Europe’s top teams, football is no longer a sport, it’s just accounting and I wouldn’t be in a rush to join those ranks.
kane will likely sod off to madrid or somewhere, but ange will bring in talent, which he did well at the hoops. but i also rekkun richarlison will flourish under ange and make fans understand why they got him and wonder why he hasn't been used much...
I think Bentancur would be more suited for the number 6 role with Bissouma and Hojberjg playing the two 8's, although I think Hojbjerg might struggle with this role and it will probably be worth looking for someone else like Maddison to provide a bit more creativity in the foward positions.
It's a free shot for Ange - If Spurs just Spurs everything up again, Ange is another top manager like Conte or Mourinho who couldn't succeed despite Levy. If he succeeds, he does it despite of the strength of his rivals for next season. Good luck Ange! For what it's worth, Spurs last played good football with Poch playing a similar style to Ange...
