I remember that wearing Crocs used to get people bullied - this was in the early 10s. They were seen as the "cheap shoe" if your family didn't have enough money to purchase Converse, Vans, Sperrys, or Toms (it was the south). I am glad that the stigma has been erased since then.

I think they are coming back because they are comfortable and last forever. Comfy to wear at home and hold up well enough to take them to run errands and such. I'd like to add that after crocs first explosion in popularity they had a problem selling shoes for a few years because everyone still had their first pair cause they last so long. Making a product so good that it hurts you on the backend is something almost no one does anymore. Honestly I want to buy another pair in a different color but I can't justify it because even after a year and a half mine are still almost new.

The thing about resurgence of styles, and fashion is that it essentially immortalizes it. There's something about trends that re-emerge that causes the public consciousness to accept those things as generally fashionable or acceptable for the foreseeable future. So while Crocs may go out of fashion, they'll still be seen as fashionable, and acceptable... they just won't be the norm. So people who still wear them will appear unique, and the item will mostly be fondly remembered. It helps that there are limited edition Crocs and collabs with brands like Balenciaga that cement them in the fashion world. Eventually you'll start seeing them on Grailed as vintage fashion choices lol.

Not gonna lie, I disliked Crocs back in the early 2000s but now I have a pair I use as house slippers 😅 Unlike regular slippers which I usually wear down in the heel in 3 months, they are still going strong and I've found some flower jibbitz that make them look cuter. Me too, I just got them as house shoes a month ago or so. They are super comfy, and can be worn with or without socks. I don’t want to wear slippers in the summer. They just need to make some with optional removable soft material to be made into slippers when you do want something warmer (and just the soft material could be replaced once it wears out). In years past, I’ve gone through a pair of slippers each fall/winter season, and I’ve been trying to get slippers that will last longer than that…

Even better, I found mine virtually new at a thrift store and got them for just a few bucks. And yes, they’ve saved my toes from being bashed too many times to count. I was a fan of wearing them outside as a kid, but after I became a teen, Crocs had a single purpose which they fulfilled perfectly for me: they were literally perfect for going to the beach, since they're water proof, comfortable, indistructible, have good enough of a grip so I could go on hikes with them and after I was done, washing them was trivial. It's kinda funny how they returned to their original seafaring roots for me, but anyway, very much recommend it for anyone going to the beach

I prefer fisherman-type leather sandals, which I have worn since childhood, and especially the khaki canvas-and-rubber, Converse-like trainers with which we were issued in the Army in the 1970s, which I still wear nearly fifty years later. We hated them then for PT for their thin soles, which gave us shin splints, but today they are so comfortable, and warm for winter wear.

Love crocs but it’s important for you to know that arch support is a scam. You have trouble supporting a proper arch due to narrowed feet and weak ankles and supporting tissues. The main cause of this is extremely narrow shoes that change the shape of our foot and cause bunions. Being able to personally keep an arched foot without having to rely of shaped padding is remarkably life changing.

Crocs are awesome. I got a pair 1n 2019 so I could run to the mailbox. They slip on easy and they don't fall off. I then started to wear them on long drives and they were much more comfortable than regular shoes. Now I use them when hiking/camping. They work well as "shower shoes" when camping, and they are a great to change-out for stream crossing when hiking. They are so light you don't feel like you are carrying an extra pair of shoes. My 2019 shoes still have a lot of life in them. They are ugly, but super practical and amazingly durable.

There is a "local" crocs version in my country. If i remember it right, it was called DuraLite. I don't even know which came first but it haa the same concept of a one piece rubber/foam construction but a little more of a sandal version. It is looked down upon by urban high fashion street kids but rural folks always had a pair of them. And like crocs, they are functional and sturdy. In the farm, boots being too heavy and bulky, and slippers being too flimsy, when you get stuck in a mud, getting off on it should be no problem. I think its out of production now, but whenever i go to communities, i still see some pair, although old and beat up, still existing and still has a few life left.

Crocs made a simple 2-strap sandal I really liked. I'm a big walker, and they have three fatal flaws. 1) On wet pavement they're deadly, 2) the tread wears out in less than 500 miles, and 3) they don't sell them anymore. They're a great travel shoe, weigh nothing, and are great for carryon or back-pack travelers. I wish they'd bring those back. No embellishments and all one color, they're good for casual wear. Not performance shoes at all, but handy.

I think I’m harder on shoes than the average person but I think I completely wear past the tread (the foam looks slightly different past the tread) in under 300 miles. That being said I like them and just bought a new pair and the difference in comfort (between no tread and tread) is amazing.

I miss some critical info in this video. The health authorities in my country strongly disagree having children wear these all day long. The positive thing that the are sooooo comfy comes with the backdraft that they have a loose fit and lack any support and lack a proper footbed. For adults pretty much the same. Wear them no longer than a few hours a day and do most of the walking wearing shoes that give proper support and have a proper footbed. I own a pair, very happy with them but use them only as garden clogs when doing light garden chores. For the more dangerous jobs I wear all wooden clogs or steel reinforced leather shoes. Protect your feet people! Btw any regular available shoes especially open shoes like crocs are forbidden to wear by staff here. Not safe for falling knifes/glass/plates etc, not enough support and possibly not chemical resistant. Restaurant owners by law have to pay for good shoes for their staff.

yes, we do repeat things over and over again...specificall you do. You simply parrot someone else's article(s) without actually analysing it. First, by 2010, Crocs wasn't dead, it had turned around already, but crocs basically had flatlined until the covid-19 pandemic. Second, it's funny that in July 2022 you are saying that Crocs is somehow more popular, because the stock has precipitously tanked since Nov 2021, which was basically when everyone had enough of pandemic idiocy. In fact, it has tanked far more precipitously than back in 2008. Some would say that Crocs is tranking again because it is going back into losing and costly ventures like it did pre-2008 crash, especially with the purchase of Hey Dude. Last, you say that Crocs holds a patent on the foam technology, which it doesn't, it holds a trademark of a trademark product. The company who makes the foam is the italian company Finproject (you can see a pair of crocs pictured under Finproject's trademarked name for the crocs' trademark name). Also, crocs are not made of one single material. Crocs uses a combination of closed cell foam made by Finproject and a polyolefin elastomer made by Dow. Dow also makes the eco polyolefin elastomer in the new eco croc version.

When I was growing up outside a small segment of barefoot kids, most kids wore shoes and socks, usually sneakers even in the summer time. Shoes even in the house was real common. Don't know why sandals are such of thing now. My guess is kids just spend too much time inside and never really get acclimated to wearing proper shoes. I see kids outside trying to play in these shoes and I cringe. These shoes also make your feet calloused. Kids and teens used to have tender feet, now they are crusty from wearing these shoes and going barefoot in the house on hard flooring. Crocs and slides are not good for your feet and I think we will be seeing a lot of foot problem in people in a few years. I never let my son wear them. Sandals only around water.

They look like your classic Mary Janes, and people are often surprised when I say they are crocs. If it weren’t for the foam-like material and the little crocodile button on the side, people would never believe them. Only complaint - after walking 9 hours around a city in them I had like three blisters on each foot, but arguments can be made that no dress shoe should be worn walking 5mph around a hilly city.
