That’s why I bought an 80. So many 200’s that it made me check them out and that’s when I learned about how awesome the 80 is. Would like to add a 200 to my stash but the 80 will have to do…if I ever stop working over here to take time to enjoy it. Kuwait now.
The Taliban, Al Qaeda, and ISIS are entirely responsible for my decision to get a third gen 4runner. If the 5vz-fe engine can handle abuse from a terrorist it will be fine for me😂
Tommy, you should seriously contemplate buying an 80 Series and doing a year’s worth of videos with it. The series would be a smash hit. I think Americans need to understand just how indestructible, capable, and endearing these vehicles are.
Please no, they're already going for crazy prices as is we don't need them getting even more expensive. An 80 with factory lockers goes for about 30k even with 300k om the clock.
My parents had this car in the 90s. I still remember till this the how soft the seats were. My favorite part was always asking for a soda and it was always cold! We need to bring back having small refrigerators
@@Yohanyothan sort of. The third gen sequoias all have a hybrid platform. But it’s for power and torque and not MPG. it’s instant torque that is almost 600 foot pounds and the HP is around 4305 Edit: fat fingered. 435 hp.
I know its, not a true landcruiser, but I own a 2008 Gx470 and absolutely love it. It is solid as a rock and drives like it's brand new with its almost 190,000 miles. I love the old skool much more than the new skool.
Yep, I drive a 2006 Land Cruiser LC3, it’s by far the most durable, reliable, well built vehicle I’ve ever owned. 200k on the clock and it runs as smoothly as ever. Apparently Toyota knew they were building a vehicle that was going to last, which is why they deliberately gave them a timeless design that would not become outdated-looking. The great thing is, on those rare occasions when a part needs to be replaced, you don’t mind doing it because it feels like an investment in something worthwhile.
@@briankissel7661what are you? woke? Can't accept other's opinions? I think you should be the one who should think before writting. You have your preference and I have mine. So shut up if you don't like my opinion.
I have owned 2 80 series 40th anniversary. The first I bought brand new and it was built far better than a Rolls. Silent while travelling, no rattles nothing. Extremely robust. I used to tow a Noelex 30 on a 6 wheel trailer across the Snowy Mountains. The Noelex was an ocean going yacht. After 400,000 k everything was original! It had just been greased and serviced. Original brake rotors, electrics, engine everything. And the doors just went click. Unfortunately the vehicle was leant and parked upside down after being barrel rolled down the road after several loops. The roof stayed up, doors etc all opened fine and driver didn't even have a scratch. But my cruiser was too damaged to fix... An outstanding vehicle.
@@paulsteele8614 they never made a 2 door 80 man, they’re all 4 door wagons. You can get SWB 70 series though, but they look completely different, have different motors, chassis, pretty much everything. Awesome cars nonetheless
The fact that they have near bulletproof drivetrains is a major reason why they command such a large amount of money today. Those trucks are nearly indestructible!
These are wonderful points for the land cruise but not why they are worth so much. They’re worth so much because they’re built to last, because every button in that thing still works and there no cracked plastic or worn materials for 300k+ miles. That’s why they’re worth so much
In 1996 I bought a lightly used 1992 Land Cruiser. The original owner ordered the seats to be 2 tone to match her purse. Dark blue with dark green inserts. Wool carpet and the largest Sun Roof at the time. Went all over the Northeast and Canada with that beast. 😢 I sold that one
@@whipchronicles7390 Man, believe me, you’ll find the Prado to be incredibly well built. They’re just not hand assembled like the 300 and the 70’s Series. You’ll love it. Have you ever been in a Lexus GX? That’s an upscale Prado. They’re by no means cheaply assembled.
Hahahaha! Americans don’t know how to drive stick shift. That’s why they import automatics. And also these old 80s are so way more expensive when you find them with manual gearbox
Most vehicles came with carpeted floor mats in the 80's and 90's it is sad how much worse quality new vehicles are compared to those made in the 90's and prior.
When I started high school, there was a lad in his senior year who drove one of these. It was dark green, and I remember thinking it was just the coolest thing in the school parking lot
I got my 2018 5.7liter tundra for 38k Canadian this year and I would not be surprised if it never drops in price. If these are that pricey with the ability to get a new toyota v8's thn the v8 tundra will be like gold when the new v6's have been around for 20 years.
@@Queensizemusic haha... the TLC is a more than capable off-roadrr, but the crazy prices on the older models isn't worth it. The inline 6 and transmission of the 80s series is the last thing you should consider as a daily. (Owner of a 96 TLC and 14 LX570)
One of my favorite features of the luxury jdm land cruisers is the clear air duct for the third row passengers. A smart way of eliminating a blind spot.
The luxury additions to the Land Crusier is literally the worst parts about it lol. Makes it less reliable, more expensive, more problems, and age worse.
Nope. It's an 80 series and they were constructed to a standard that simply no one builds to any more. And they were designed to be easy to maintain. Everything is accessible. Grease nipples everywhere. Drive through a deep river well just drain oils easy. And keep going.
Ah yeah, my 80 is a 1997 front & rear lockers, drive it every day, love that truck. It sees its fair share of the mud and dirt too, that is where it shines.
I bought one when I was 20, I found a 95 triple locked one 8 hours away, flew there and drove it home, this was in 2008 and it had 120,000 on it and I paid $8,000, still have it, it's a trailer only rock crawler on 38's now, I miss driving it daily though... Most people didn't even know what it was, they just thought it was a 4Runner...
I have a triple diff lock set up on my 80 series 1hdft. Harrop air lockers front and rear, with the factory centre lock. Japan import to NZ with all the gear put on here in NZ. Kaiapoi repowers near Christchurch did alot of the mods. Goes like a rocket. Have 3 Land Cruisers. They hold their value well!
Are they expensive in America? They should come to Colombia and get them here since they are cheap because of high gas prices and you can get plenty of those in good conditions.
Yea people who have them that end up selling them think they have a gold mine in their drive way they are great cars but people over price the shit out of them
Name another car as capable and durable as the Land Cruiser. There simply isn’t one on Earth. Mine has 280,000+ miles on it and I wouldn’t think twice about driving it around the globe. I mean, I just replaced the original starter and alternator at 260,000 miles. While we did that, we went ahead and did all the maintenance and repaired things that needed to be addressed - new cooling system (radiator, hoses, water pump), belts, a new AC system, valve cover gasket and cylinder sheaths, new rear main seal and new EBC brakes all around. She’s good for another 300,000+ miles now.
That's when Toyota cared. Between those and the 4 Runners, you couldn't get a better vehicle for the money. STILL if you can find them for sale which never happens.
