Why Are Legos So Expensive? 

That's just besides the fact that the quality of the bricks becomes worse and worse. Bricks that are supposed to be the same color but are mismatched and cheap ass stickers instead of prints which would cost Lego only marginally more are only the tip of the iceberg. Luckily there's lots of other companies that provide the same product for cheaper and at the same, and often even better quality.

i think youv got it backwards, the more tiny parts that a set has, the cheaper a set will be. The new rocket launch system set for example has lots of parts but its price doesn’t line up at all with its cost simply because of all the tiny parts. The bigger a part, the more it costs to make obviously.

I'm curious about their price per pound then. Like are they just making more money per lb of plastic they press into Lego? Cause I'd figure making smaller, more intricate pieces would lead to higher capital costs for the molds

I don't think it's deceptive. It's like anything else with a resell market, some things are worth a ton for reasons like this, and most aren't. They show her with a ton of built sets too.

@@VesteraCh both are true. as mentioned elsewhere, saying it's "still 10 cents a piece" is bullshit when instead of one 8 stud piece, they now make it 8 1 stud pieces just to inflate the count and charge more.

tbf 11 cent per piece is a roberry anywhere, if you buying a bulk of 5k it should be way cheaper

depends on region, in america, you guys have by far the most reasonable prices. here in australia, a set that should be 160 (if the set is 100 USD) is between 200 to 220. lego is just expensive.

Not going against your argument your completely true, just wanted to say 2 things, 1st there definitely are sets less then $30, i do see plenty of sets 10-20 bucks, tho i dont doubt that lego geared more to adults and theres LESS of those 10-20 dollar sets. 2nd, you said kids will grow up thinking their all the same, as someone who did grow up commonly getting knockoff, i can def say theres a real LARGE difference for me, i always stuck to lego.

@@jeterjk tbf I just exchanged my local currency into usd, but it’s currently quite weak so you’re probably right in that there are still sets available in that price range. And the distinction that might matter a lot is that you grew up knowing Lego was “proper” and everything else is knockoffs, but something is only a knockoff so long as there is a dominant brand in the sphere. So if Lego loses their dominance they might even risk becoming the “knockoff” should another brand become the coolest/most sought after/etc among kids

It’s especially stupid with the shoes because a lot of them are made with a type of foam that disintegrates if they aren’t worn often enough
