Today we talk about 3 reasons why your pavers are sinking. This has to do with the subsoil settling, the base settling, or the base not being deep enough for your application and climate. In addition to this we talk about how you can fix this including either picking up the pavers and compacting or picking up the pavers and excavating the base and starting from new.

Also watch out for pavers shifting sideways from chains being wrapped around your patio and pulled laterally

We had pavers redone twice, still sinking down. We are building a pool and I am going through your material so I can just do it myself so it's done right.

Let me know if you have any questions along the way! Sorry you are having such a poor experience

Don't you think poor maintenance with polymeric sand results in settlement..?? From not keeping up on the maintenance part of the paver stone area ????

Yes, definitely plays a factor especially for driveways that will experience heavy dynamic loads and for dense graded base applications.

How do you decide whether or not to use a geotextile between the subsoil and gravel/base material? Would you always recommend to use it unless the client doesn’t want it for their own reasons? Or are there situations you advise against geotextile/geogrids?

I would never advise against geotextile. Geogrid depends. The client shouldn’t dictate installation standards though

Nice content bro! , Subscribed, For a raised paver patio with a small retaining wall if there was base material with fines would you recommend turning woven geotextile fabric up vertically along the inside of the perimeter wall to keep the fines in but let water drain?

Yes absolutely but I would use non-woven and not woven. Here is a video to explain more: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-v8cqR6nXjXs.html

My project is lift and relay 8x12 concrete pavers with a tight joint in front of a garage where cars drive over, originally laid 9 years ago. Would you recommend using bedding sand or 1/4-20 gravel? They only need to be raised 1/2-3/4". Thanks!

$5 a square foot is insanely cheap

For just the cost of the paver? How much are the pavers where you are?

@@iamahardscaper Budget concrete pavers work out to about $10 a foot. NSW Australia

Wow! That is expensive. $5 (CAD) are mid-range pavers for us here. $2.50 would be budget pavers. $8 and up would be high end. But we have a lot of manufacturers here competing.
