Why Are People Upset Over John Stewart's Latest Commentary? 

It wasnt even both sidesism, he clearly made the case that trump is worse, are we just not allowed to critique biden anymore because donald trump exist?

Why do I feel that this is all about Kamala becoming President. They talk about Biden's age, but we all know how old he was when he started and how old he will be when he finishes his first term. Nobody's talking about Kamala Harris as if she doesn't exist. And she's the Vice President.

People are upset with Jon Stewart's commentary because with our Democracy on the line the last thing this country needs is more of the media's false equivalencies! Obviously, being old is better than being old and crazy!

I only started watching The Daily Show when Trevor Noah took over, and loved it. I loved it when Roy Wood Jr. and Hasan Minhaj were hosts. Either one of them would have been great.

Yes, initially my white colleague didnt know about Club Shay Shay. After the Katt Williams interview, they now watch ClubShay Shay.

The thing I remember hearing is that Roy Wood Jr didn't refuse to come back in the chair - he refused to come back as a correspondent. He said only coming back if it's in the chair.

Jon Stewart has become a person whose pov I welcome. His show on Apple TV endeared me to him. I have yet to see him restrained for anyone. Comedy Central is owned by CBS/Paramount and is about to make massive cuts (5-8k) so the Producers will be the first to go after shows in "development". The execs bts are being unreasonable to cover their booties. Roy,Leslie, Klepper & Desi couldve been offered a day each for 6 months.....

The onus is on us, but at the same time people are influenced by media. John Stewart doing “both sides are bad” comedy when things are in such an existential crisis was dangerous.

It's real hard to make a pair of shoes and then anybody comes behind and tries to fit them. The Daily Show was and is John Stewart. That's really a large part of the problem. Also, during that particular segment, did you see the camera pan the audience? Look at the faces and that tells you all you need to know.

I consider myself somewhere in between liberal and leftist at the moment. One thing that sincerely bothers me about liberals is the growing chorus of liberals who seem to think that they should have a Democratic version of Reagan's "eleventh commandment" and get mad about ANY internal criticism. I think this would be a big mistake, as this is one of the big things that contributed to the Republicans becoming so extreme. Because internal criticism is not tolerated, there are no breaks on the train to extremist land. But Jon Stewart and the Daily Show is a different beast. They follow the pattern of the mainstream media in using "but both sides" arguments to normalize the extremism of the Republicans, and to assure Republican voters that it really doesn't matter which side they vote for because both are exactly as bad. This "but both sides" reporting is why I got mad at the mainstream media and stopped consuming them. It is also why I largely stopped watching the Daily Show.

Anothering as well, white folks that are millennials payed attention to Katt Williams club shay shay but only for a day or 2. Us, we made it the talk for a month because he made us really think about our community. Remember, Katt was huge in the 2000's. Especially in mainstream.

Why so much disdain for people who are old and have wisdom? Why are we ok with Senators and Supreme court appointees with lifetime appointment,but are terrified of a President with a limited time in office.?

I think we have a plutocracy at the highest levels of Government, and that’s why the work John Stewart is talking about will be continuous.. with over 80 years of wealth rule it’s no a lifetime of work to ensure the working tax paying citizens get a level playing field

That was the biggest load of BS he unloaded. I can laugh at the age thing but he suggested that we'll survive no matter who wins and he was quite smug in describing his former glibness. So you've focused on the part I focused on. What we learned is that our Democracy isn't as on firm a ground firm ground as we thought. We learned that a lot of what holds us together is tradition and fair dealing. Trump doesn't care about tradition and he's not interested in fair dealing. Remember the part in Jurassic Park where the velociraptors learned to grab the door handles? That's what happened on Jan 6. Trump starts there not where he started in 2016. I'm surprised by your take Karen. I think Jon can afford to be smug.

mr Roy Wood has a wide grasp on how things work and plenty of experience. i think it shows thru how comfortable and natural he is in front of the cameras/audience. mr Stewart got some 'free time' after the previous platform wasn't enthusiastic to host his work during the election year. i think that played an role in his return to TDS. his first take on the age thing might have been a fishing move more than laziness or narrow vision... they know how to make tv/attract an audience and mr Jon knows very well how to set a trap, it's like his favorite move :)

Hmmm - ok. I just gotta put this out there. It is ok if white folk dont want to consume black entertainemnt. No problem. The same way we (as black folk) want to consume entertainment that reflects us and at times dont like or get what some of our fellow white humans consume (im struggling through Succession and white folks seem to think thats the greatest show ever). The real issue here is that black folk need to have a greater stake in distributing and profiting off black folks entertainement. If there was a 'Daily-Show' like comedy news program that made good money and every black person knew what it was then John Stewart being brought back woulknt be a discussion much less an issue. And frankly it was a smart decision that is made evident by the fact that (at least me a BLACK person) this is the first time in a long time I've really looked forward to the Daily Show in awhile. Dont get me wrong, i love me some Trevor Noah and DAMNIT I cant ewait until I se some move on that movie based on his book 'Born a Crime; but all that to the side, once again as a BLACK person I can be counted amongst the people who just werent as into the Daily Show once Stewart left. I did dig the fact they had a black dude up there but at the end of the day I thought Stewart was a better host. Gotta figure that the producers of that show would like to get back some of the viewrship (including me) that they lost and thn maybe gamble on some fresh face. There is a reasons McDonald's is such a big company. Its familiar.

I think he's off on the white thing. All of my white coworkers are fully away of Club Shay Shay! They may not watch as much as black folks, but when they know the guest, they definitely watch!!

Also, people wanted Roy Wood Jr. Including white folks, but he didn't want to do the show anymore. I think he wanted to do movies.

We need young people to take us into the future. Sure we will vote for Biden but we have a lot of young people out here ready to be president.

Im not watching TDS becz they did Rod Wood Jr wrong. He was brilliant. Stewart's rant on old age was stupid becz there is NO alternative. Boyh ARE old but one wants Americans learn Russian. So there's that.

At the end of the day our people are entertainment. Our public behavior might be the reason whites watch club shay shay and that is the very reason we are not going to be viewed in mainstream translation of important topics. At least they tried to seek a working personality with an attempt to be diverse. Katt makes that harder than usual because of his antics. Just my opinion
