Well, I have a pile of shirts that is actually meant to be worn as underwear and they feel very different to a regular t-shirt I wear them under hoodies during hoodie weather.

Tshirts and buttoned shirts, that we now happily wear on their own, started as underwear and weren't supposed to be visible. So while I'm not really into this look right now, it might morph into something cool.
The casualisation of cloths started in the 60‘s when younger men rebelled against society.. nowadays everybody is so casual that it‘s rebellious to wear a suit.. maybe there‘ll be a countermovement back to suits.. today adults wear the style of 10 yrs old children, it’s time to wear and behave like grown adults again!

This has the vibe of me getting Bart Simpson satin boxer shorts as a gift when I was eight and not realizing they were underwear. I wore them in public for over a week before someone had the heart to tell me.

The 90s wants a word with you. The other things were slips as dresses and bras under suits. The pants halfway down the bum is a hip hop not skate thing and CK made the waistband only popular. As for these tiny shorts, it's very 70s/80s. Tbh I don't understand UK Gen Zs obsession with athleisure, workman shorts, leggings with pulled up white socks and crocs.

I feel like this trend is actually kinda old/ we started seeing it last summer - that’s when I started wearing mine. A comfy option for summer but I’m afraid I struggle now to grab any other type of shorts and I desperately need to find something else to wear lol

It is very thoughtful of you to choose this topic after thr Jeremy Allen White video, where you said, he wears normal well and that is what works. People like, when you represent balance and harmony. So wearing an underwear as an outerwear is just not going to work.
While I did wear the wide stuff in the 2000's I was a kid, and my parents would whoop my ass if I had my pants hanging on the middle of my butt 😂 So I properly wear my pants, even if its baggy. Going out in boxers is also not going to be it 😂

Showing your underwear has an even longer history in fashion! Dressshirts were considered as underwear as well and were therefore covered with waistcoats. braces/suspenders were underwear as well and were never shown. After that Henley Shirts, Tshirts and Vests travelled from inside to outside. However I have never seen or heard bottom underwear being shown outside on their own historically, so this might be completely new

It seems like an issue of purpose more than anything. Boxers are meant to be used as underwear, so it's weird to see them be used as shorts on top of your actual underwear. Really, it seems people just want that ultra light material in the form of shorts. Add pockets and a drawstring, maybe change the patterns a little bit, and they'd look totally fine as a summer short. Maybe the drawstring isn't even necessary for some people. I'll likely not get into it any time soon, but you never know where this could lead in the future.
To be honest there were memes and videos out there that had people wearing there pants down to there ankles as a joke but I guess 🤷 the next step was to get rid of the pants 😂
Feel like the boxer thing for ladies kinda works because they're similar to short shorts and they're not ladies underwear. But on a fella? Put your trousers on son.
I mean if you're looking like daniel simmons or the guy from the bear you can wear nealry whatever you want. But as a normal dude...nobody wanna see me in boxers with a cropped top walking around 😂
