Last year they had crazy speed through fast corners, this year its the straights. It's like Codies fixes one problem and creates another.

That's probably because it's old code that they keep building on. That's been a common the in annual game titles.

I remember playing my team on f1 2021 at Silverstone the ai would take copse easy flat but it was impossible for me in a maxed out car it’s really annoying

Codies A.I. ALWAYS has had O.P. straight line speed & insane traction at corner exits but super early braking, not just this year's game!

When youre still using the same engine for years youre not really fixing the problems. Youre just covering the cracks. Its like when patching a glitch. Once that is done it is likely it opens another glitch somewhere else. If they bring a new engine for 23 then the patches would be more efficient in fixing these issues. I think timeless made a video on what i mentioned which should help you understand better than ive wrote

Pretty sure it comes from the traction, they have robot like throttle control and will just accelerate much better out of corner

It seems the AI isn't really learning the track and already knows the exact amount grip required to be on the limit at each and every corner. I feel a good AI will only come if they bring some machine learning into its development, so that it doesn't know where the limit is and needs to do a little experimenting with throttle to find it

@@sunnys7645 Once those days come then racing games would be so much better. If they actually give different aero and power profiles to different cars we would actually be able to stimulate stuff like Daniel struggling with the McLaren.

I think that’s partly to do with how terrible the myteam car is compared to the actual cars. I tried the myteam midfield car and immediately can race higher difficulty than brfore

The AI in My Team especially are hugely op, I guess the AI having much better traction is why I found them so insanely op in my first wet race earlier today? I’ve had to drop it to 75 from 85 to kind of stay competitive but in the wet I finished 40 or so seconds behind my teammate (Albon) in driver career too.

@@AlexGillon I hope so! I find actually driving the cars is a lot of fun in this years game but I’d be lying if the AI issues haven’t soured the experience somewhat.

@@SuperRobbo92 same here. I've actually found I'm able to be much more consistent in this game and probably the fastest I've been since F1 2018, but playing my team and getting blown away by a second a lap to your team mate on a much lower difficulty than normal just ruins the experience

@@jname9368 I’m far from the quickest I’ve been on the games, I’ve been getting slower as the years go by and my actual free time to enjoy the games goes down. I do find that I’m more consistent on this years game as opposed to last years though.

At the start of the game I was mid 90 Ai. Now I’m in season 4 in my team and can’t even beat my team mate on 59 Ai. Honestly a joke. Love f1 as a game but this years release has been a shambles

@@mq6532 Yes, but not a jump as big as that. Last year I started on 103 and as seasons went on I went down about 2 clicks. In 4 seasons I shouldn’t have to put the Ai down 10. They’re all over the place. Last year you know the tracks they were weak/strong on. This year it’s a guess

Because after patch v1.06 they fixed the Personnel Facility Boost so now the stats boosts are actually working (most AI drivers have or near all 100 ratings as a result), it also affect other AI teams as well but the "+" numbers are hidden from the player's screen. This has been a issue since F1 2020 and many people had suggested they disable the boost on AI team, but of course, they ignored it. It's a joke how something not working was actually making the game more balanced.

I beat F1 2017 on 105. Needed to lower the settings in every new game. In F1 22 I set it to 75 and I still get left in the dust.

It’s their exit speeds into straights , I think the biggest example is right out the chicane in Miami , they fly off that exit no matter what AI level and you can rarely catch them their throttle control is perfect off exits

What I just noticed in GP mode is that they just burn all their ERS when you are within a couple of seconds in front or behind, so it creates the illusion that they are quicker

​@@kevintaddo Because it's more or less an illusion. Most people probably were stuck in the DRS train when they felt they couldn't overtake anyone even with DRS+ERS. Or when AI flew past them, they didn't realize they could do the same when the AI are alone at the front while you have DRS. Or people thought draining their ERS is the only way to catch up, when in reality, the AI counter you with ERS as well, and you should never let the ERS went below 10% at any point of the race, it's all about setting them up, and managing your car so you can take the opportunity when it's really ready, just like in real life.

Could another issue be that in myteam the AI have MORE ERS than the player? Or that it recharges faster. I've tested it on my teammate in miami, by keeping him behind and using the overtake when he was using (checking through the replay camera that I was deploying when he was) and after 3-5 laps he had around 20-30% more ERS than me (92% AI) Unfortunately I'm on Playstation so I cannot do a more thorough test to actually check this is the case Love these kinds of videos btw

I've not tested this myself but doing Miami recently, I was down to 30-40% in p11, my teammate still had 90%. He was a the back and not battling so maybe the AI doesn't use it as much then, but the gap surprised me as I'm normally actually pretty conservative with ERS as I'm too busy dealing with wheelspin

@@Polyidus97 It happened to me too, it kind of kills the enjoyment of career mode for me. Moreover as the season progresses I have to lower the difficulty more and more because my teammate gets faster and faster. I have by far the fastest car and I won in Miami with AI at 85. Then at Cota the same teammate laps 1.4 seconds faster than me at 77. It doesn't make any sense to me, and I'm tired of lowering the difficulty. I'm convinced that with this patch by season 7 or 8 I'd have to run sub 50 AI which is nonsense. Very disappointed with this AND with the fact that I cannot use dlc tracks in career mode, provided that there's more than china and portimao

i noticed this too, they recharge the ers so much quicker than me during the safety car, after 3 laps of safety car i only had 60% but they had 100% and i checked before the safety car came out they had less than me

I found that the AI would get "the perfect '' exit, no issues with traction and then hit that ERS button as quickly as possible immediately once they exit the corner. When I lowered the front and rear wings and did my best to get a great full traction no wheel spin exit and then hit that overtake button as quickly as I could then I could keep up for about 100 to 300 metres then they would pull away. It's track dependent but sometimes I could get them by copying their techniques. I can confirm the new 1.08 update has fixed this issue and it's great fighting them on the straights, it now feels more realistic and balanced. GG Codemasters. You do have to increase the AI difficulty if you want too. About 5 to 10 clicks higher now. I was 1.4 secs quicker on 60 in Q3. I would normally use 80, that then became 70 then 65 then 60. But with this update I could go to 70, maybe 80 again. The race it's not too easy. On 60 I am only about 5 tenths per lap quicker. There has always been that big difference in AI pace from Qualifying to Race in all F1 games LOL.

We need detailed sliders for different AI aspects. Like throttle control, aggressiveness and braking zones judgment. They do make mistakes though. But also, when they lockup their brakes instead of letting car run wide they brake some more and try to return to their line, it's awkward as fuck. Also. 2 AI cars fighting for position behind you, prepare to get rammed. It's like their attack move never covers the instance where your car will prevent the dive move since their inside cut will clip into your turning car. They do it everytime on race starts.

I knew it had to be traction. I did manage to find the difficulty that fit me, but I could see when racing the ai that my advantage was in the braking zones and through the corners where taking different lines would gain me more time, and my disadvantage was in the traction zones.

From my understanding fuel is not simulated in weight or impact per lap. This is likely to make it easier for the game when it comes to different race lengths, safety cars, traction in the wet to stop ai running out of fuel. So whatever the stock weight is on a car, that is the weight of the Ai in any race.

I think this is very much a case this year. I just did my first 100% race this year and my teamate was about 1 second faster than me in the first half of the race. But in the last part of the race I could match his times and in the last 10 laps or so I was even faster than him. This was with Ferrari in a Driver Career Mode at Australia.

imo the way the difficulty should be scaled is that there is a "perfect" exact set off inputs to get through the corner the fastest and the higher the difficulty the closer to "perfect" it is. a side effect of this would be the lower the difficulty the more ai mistakes

It’s corner exits where they gain the most time. there acceleration is way quicker than the player and I noticed it’s more broken the slower the corner is

Stickin to F1 2021 for now. It has its problems but by far better than 22 One thing I noticed helped a little is the throttle linearity setting. Few clicks helped

On F1 2021 the AI going flat into some corners became somewhat manageable. But on F1 22 it's just so frustrating to have to lower the difficulty by 20 or + just to try to match the pace.....

Very nice work in putting this one together! Surprised no one else has done this yet given all the uproar surrounding AI straight line speed. Really interesting to see the results. For me personally, I'm not great at the game (yet...) so I'm playing with AI at 60 because honestly the real battle for me is not spinning out and getting my braking points right (first time with no assists, and a wheel!). When the laps start to come together I'm happy to let my brand new team and driver get podiums because I feel I deserve them LOL

An annoying thing I’ve noticed related to their speed, is they become very, very hard to beat when they are maxed out. They pretty much have higher powertrain potential, so become pretty much impossible to chase down in straights and DRS zones because of how quickly they get up to speed but then the speed advantage over the player. If the AI are going to continue to have the ability to get up to speed faster, then Codies need to at least lower their powertrain potential. If not, beyond season 3 in my team is just going to be so frustrating to play

I always found the AI in MyTeam weird also. When everything maxed out all of a sudden my teammate becomes super OP. It's like the upgrades benefit him twice as much as me.

Not exactly to do with this issue but i had the “engine issue” that reduces grip again at Japan this time and in 6 laps i lost 10 or so seconds on my teammate, and well all i can say is Japan is the best tester for it, 130R is barely flat on worn tires with the “engine issue” and S1 is dreadful, funny enough my vmax felt as if it was the same 😂

Very Nice video. What is AI vs Human difference from 100-200km/h in acceleration or in braking . Maybe AI has wider torque band like Max power all the time.

if DaveGaming is anything reliable then the AI is even inconsistent during the same gamemode and race but depending on tire compound. apparently theres a huge performance gap between softs and hard /medium in Monaco

I wondered if the AI was jumping around in terms of difficulty depending on the circuit. On certain circuits it jumps to hard, then back to easy and there isn't a small incremental difficulty change like there should be as you go through the season. Another thing I notice is that the AI seems to really be OP on city circuits. At Silverstone I'm 30 seconds ahead on medium with plenty of stupid mistakes, but at Jeddah or similar city circuits on the same difficulty level, I have to be spot on flawless to just stay in position. Monaco was an exception were my terrible driving was still good enough.

What could work is something Content Manager does. Instead of having one single value for all AI, have it be a range of values with the value you set being the average.

I thought they have adaptive A.I. in F1 22 that adjusts to your pace, but why I haven't really noticed that or why I still can't find anything in the settings that lets you opt to turn adaptive A.I. on or off besides setting a fixed value for difficulty & maybe even adjust how much adaptive A.I. is allowed to deviate from that difficulty setting?

I’m fast af in the wet in all previous games and now all of the sudden they’re on par if not faster than me in the wet. I first noticed it on day one when they put an unrealistic lap time on the hard difficulty on my first race weekend when I got the game after I just worked my butt off for my lap time only to see that they went a whole second faster and I ended up in 4th place for qualifying in Bahrain in MyTeam. I also race in the Expert racing style all assist off. But the thing that really bugs me is how fast certain power unit components would wear out. I wore out my ICE by almost 50% in one race weekend when I only go hard on it in qualifying for my one lap run.

I played F1 2018 for like 3 years. I got F122 now and from having good battles at AI 103-105 in F1 2018 I am now loosing all the battles at AI 80-90 on this game. What the hell?

Bots don't care about tyre deg nor do they care about if the track has turned into a lake....they go as fast as they always do regardless of car or track conditions.

Sometimes the practice programs are bugged I believe because sometimes im like 1.2 sec slower than required delta on one program but I can manage to do the others. Is this the case with anyone else?

It’s like you can’t find a sweet spot of ai in this game for the “casual gamers” like previous games . This year I turn the ai up a notch and straight line is op … I turn it down and it’s manageable but u run into the back of ai in every corner because they’re too slow!

Lighter car means you can corner faster which means you can exit the corner faster. Top speed is about how you maintain cornering speed anyway.

Perhaps someone here can help. This is my first F1 game so I've played around with the Ai, trying to find that sweet spot of enjoyable, but challenging and getting nowhere with it. I mostly play a two player career with one of my friends and the biggest issue we have is the constant train of drivers around every track. The top 2 drivers will lead by a few seconds, but then from about P4 to P18 the total gap between all drivers will be 2 seconds or less, there is a train of 12 drivers wing to gearbox around every single lap. Is there a setting that changes that or will increasing the Ai difficulty spread the field out more? Just did the Monaco two player career race with the Ai set to 50, qualified stone dead last and sat behind all 19 cars for the entire race with Verstappen winning by 3 seconds. Meaning that every car was less than 0.1s behind the one in front...

its the traction or acc. after slow corners. Until you speed up on a.i level its already to late. just tried an lower wing in japan and after the spoon corner i gained 0.7-0.9 sec. on the straight without using ERS.

i think just with the baulktorque value we can conclude why they are so strong. if my understanding is correct, the ai uses 1 value for all gears (7500 in the base game i assume), whilst it lowers for the player the higher gear you use. so unless you're in 1st or 2nd gear, the ai will always have a torque advantage, with how big said advantage is depending on the gear you're in. this needs to be changed by the devs to either use the player baulktorque values or make separate ones for the ai for each gear.

they fixed it lmao and no, the baulktorque "fix" was literally just nerfing AI to have less torque than us, as you would pull on them at the end of the straight with that fix. It's just traction.

I think it must still be a problem. I just downloaded F1 22, jumped into a race at silverstone, and on the hangar straight I was overtaken by a williams. I was a red bull with DRS and overtake ers, williams had neither. I had to bring AI level down to 90 so I could at least fight them in corners.

I think it is the weight because I always seem to be faster with DRS and ERS but it’s while accelerating they gain a couple tenths on the start of every straight which I think it what makes them feel faster because they reach a higher speed quicker

The AI are also bloody menaces. The amount times that my friends and I have been crashed out by the AI in corners and even being pushed into the wall on straights at Singapore (you know the spot) is stupidly high.

The easiest way to have done this was make it rain and then single out the driver that went to inters when they needed full wets. I saw this just yesterday it was at max rain and goatifi had inters and was still able to pull away from me when I should have had more grip. Its just an issue with grip out of the corners giving them more acceleration.

at launch i was on 100% and before the most recent 1.08 i was all the way down to 73%. now that the issue has been fixed im back at 100. so odd that such a big issue wasnt picked up until now

Bc AI can just floor it when exiting corners. If you’re playing with no assists, you have to baby the gas out of corners or you will spin

For me, I find that putting the ride height at 1/1 gets you closer to the top speed of the AI.

9:10 i do mind that they seem to have a lighter car. ruins for me the immersion whenever your team mate is cruising by on a long straight or just utterly drives off with you unable to follow him whatsoever.

The AI seem able to run much lower wings than the player as well. I took a time trial setup into Imola in my Mercedes driver career and the AI were hitting 200 MPH down the straight without DRS and I was topping out about around 190 without DRS. Imola time trial setups have very high wings so either the AI isn't affected by the wings or they just run really low wings.

i always played on 104-107 before 2010-2020 (no 17&15) now 95 is fair for the A.I and me '22...thou i have to say passing happens mostly on cold tyres

I can’t play above 86 AI difficulty because even if I throw down a picture perfect lap, they’re still just unnaturally faster than me. That’s what happen when a computer is calculating the driving lol

The only way I catch AI is the fast corners. straights they kill me and the slow corners we’re about matched

It's definitely not fair for the players who play on lower difficulties but if someone is playing on 110% AI it should be extremely difficult to beat them. A last to first in 5 laps shouldn't be possible even for an esports driver.

What is "O.P."? And a couple of things: 1. You are talking about A.I. speed. But not all cars in real life have the same power or aerodynamics, thus they don't achieve the same speeds. Certainly not Williams. 2. Player's speed shouldn't be affected by the level of A.I. After all, what would be the purpose otherwise if we lower the level of A.I. just to be penalized ourselves? 3. It's not the speed that bothers me, but the acceleration out of the corners.

The problem they have is near infinite ERS and godlike traction, on Miami I’m lucky if I get 5 or 6 laps of use of ERS on a 50% race but the ai get it on every straight on every lap give them way less ERS and they slow down by around a second a lap
