I am the lew at the start and the lewkn at 5:22 , can confirm playing TF2 was one of the best nights of my life. And playing The Forest through with you, tom and thom, single handedly made The Forest my favourite game of all time. It is truly sad to see everyone grow up and the games we loved fade into memories but it is nice to look back, my one hope is that a game comes out and brings us all back together one day. Love you man.

It's definitely part of it. I lost many friends over the years , what friends I have left are just co workers and even tho I know a few that play games we all have kids, sports, families, priorities it's just never going to be the same. In the last 10+ years I bet I only played co op twice with someone in know and probably only a dozen with strangers. I'm already an introvert so I hate headsets and the process of playing with strangers , I barely wanna play with someone I know. Those are the best moments to make memories tho.

I think many of us need to have a sense of being "busy" or "self actualised" before we can start to enjoy video games again. I think I found playing video games so fun when I was younger because I had been at school all day or busy all week playing sports or doing some kind of activity. Now that I've finished school and am working I find that I am not capable of enjoying a video game until I feel truly busy or productive. I'm not saying that I'm not busy, but I feel like most of the time I need to be doing something greater before I can earn the reward of enjoying a video game again.

I used to have friends that played a variety of games. I almost wish that were never the case. I've been left with emotional withdrawals. I feel like I have a drug addiction that will never be satisfied. The overwhelming joy I felt knowing I had a group of people I could come to, and consider my home away from home. Having that taken away from you does bad things to your psyche. Watching it all fade away slowly, knowing you can't do anything about it, makes you want to fade away too. I've been searching for that feeling again, and it's leading me down a destructive path.

Games are still fun. We just can't recreate the "first" experiences we got from exploring the medium as kids. Those of us who have been playing games for a long time basically know how each genre we care about functions at a basic level, so even NEW games don't feel as new as they did when we first tried them when we were, you know, 10. But that applies to literally everything in life. You can't get stuck chasing that dragon, because it's unobtainable, in any context, not just gaming.

In my opinion , you are absolutely correct. For example I used to play a lot and ever since I got a license and started dating and generally grew up , it felt like I didn't have time to play and games weren't as entertaining. Although a while ago I got sick and had to skip school and work for a few weeks and luckily found a game like no other game I'd ever played. And I went back. Felt the nostalgia even though it didn't feel like it felt first playing last of us , or getting online in Nba 2k , it still felt special. But as soon as I finished the game and went back to the games I was playing I got a feeling of familiarity. Like you said , to a basic level , there's just nothing that impresses me anymore cause "I've seen it all" so definitely agree with you my man. Have a great day

For me, it’s mostly the same as what you’re saying, except the reason why I hesitate to play new games is because of the writing. Just to clarify, it’s not as if I’m saying that the writing in video games is necessary any worse, it’s just that none of the stories told in video games recently really grabbed me, like they did 5, or 10 years ago. I think the last time I was really gripped by a video game story was when I played Undertale or Lisa the Painful. Those feel like such distant memories now, and I haven’t found any game stories that seem like they will excite me like those did, and after having been let down playing future games that were supposed to be like those two, disappointed me too

There have been studies completed about this topic. It’s not that games aren’t fun nowadays, it’s just that other activities such as scrolling through your phone on Tiktok provide significantly more dopamine. As such we lack motivation to play video games, when our brains receive a higher reward for less effort elsewhere. It’s quite remarkable, but If you quit your phone and Netflix for a couple of days, you’ll notice yourself be much more inclined to play video games or even be more willing to actually complete some study/homework or something. Btw, I’m not saying this is entirely to blame, just that it definitely plays a significant role. Other factors would include facts that we are getting older, and perhaps games nowadays genuinely just aren’t as good or revolutionary
@oliverwilson5957
@oliverwilson5957 2 года назад

@Lamb785
@Lamb785 2 года назад
Yup, this is the main thing that he unfortunately seems to have missed, although he does allude to it somewhat when he mentions mindlessly scrolling through Netflix and RU-vid instead of playing video games. I think being glued to smart devices most of the time makes you less likely to be able to fully engage with video games when you sit down and play them. I would honestly argue that games nowadays are way more engaging and groundbreaking than they were back in the day. An excellent example is Breath of the Wild, no older game even can compare to the breadth and depth of that game and the experience it can provide. There are also some unbelievable VR games out there that bring immersion to a whole different level. It's just that if you are on Twitter or TikTok all day long and then sit down to play some games, of course you're going to stop after an hour, your brain was already overwhelmed with sensory input before you even started playing. If video games were your only mode of entertainment/engagement and you only had two hours a day to play them, you would have mind-blowing experiences way more often, even if the game was objectively subpar.

It's the games actually, I am now 17 and when I played Deltarune I had the same fun I had when I was younger. let's be honest now, most games now are just made for making money instead of the experience the game will give. Also changing game genres will help. if you play and only play Minecraft for example, you will get bored of it even if you play with your best of friends. try fighting games or shooting game and not just sandbox and you will have fun. and also try other hobbies instead of playing games and go on social media. like gardening or listening to music or just any hobby that isn't the same thing you always do.

This hits home. I had a group of online friends and we all met from this one game. Our friendship built from there and we played lots of other games together like minecraft, overwatch, dead by daylight, ark survival evolved, ect. There was a time when we played jackbox games together. We would still up until 3am to play but since my friends were from Europe and the USA, it was probably afternoon or the evening for them. And we weren't kids either. Our friend group ranged from ages 17 - 23. I still remember calling them on discord and the feeling of being around them made me so happy. It made me believe that I didn't need anyone else in the world except them. They were my life, all of them were my best friends, I love all of them. We all been friends for 4 years or even more than that. But a year ago, suddenly because of drama and all, the group separated and one of them pushed all of us away. Not trying to sound depressed or anything but it hurts, and I feel constantly lonely. I wished we could have moments like that again where we played games together and laugh. What I had in the past with them was so rare and the group in general was so rare and unique and I know I can't go back to it. It makes me feel sad.

I think almost everything in life loses its luster over time. As a musical artist, I constantly find myself experimenting with different genres of music during the creation process to stay interested in music making. While working on a particular song and hearing it at least a hundred times til it's completion, I'm then ready to move onto the next music project. Sometimes I can't even listen to my finished song for a few days until after I step away from it and come back to it with fresh ears.
@iamquietfire
@iamquietfire 2 года назад
Song fatigue is a problem that's only gotten more prominent with each new project. I suppose it's also due to the fact that as a beginner musical artist, it takes you the same amount of time to complete projects as it takes for someone more experienced to implement their desired sound design.
@musicproductionsimplified
@musicproductionsimplified 2 года назад
@@iamquietfire Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I actually have had an opposite experience. It took me longer as a beginner to figure out stuff and therefore took me roughly 20-30 hours per track from start to finish. Then it eventually went down to around 15 or so hours after the first album. Now after many albums, eps and singles, on average it takes me 8-12 hours per song to finish. However, I spend more time on other intricate things like automation and better song arrangement that I never messed with much when I was a beginner. I guess I'm just spending more time on other things, vs getting stuck on the mixing issues I faced during the beginning phases of my music journey.

Story of my life, recently. I'm 45 years old. I'm desperately trying to experience passion and fun again in my life like it used to be. Attempting to do this through video games - like it used to be. Had a $6K 3090 gaming computer custom built by Origin. Bought everything needed for VR, in addition to a G9 ultrawide screen and separate 32" triple screens. Bought the haptic Woojer Vest. Bought lots of games on Steam. I rarely play them. I start playing, and within 20 minutes, I realize I'm not having any fun, and I return to RU-vid. I'm constantly searching RU-vid for "best PC games" yet not finding much. I have been experiencing depression since COVID took out my brother. I seem to be coming out of it, albiet slowly. I'm wondering if my inability to enjoy video games might have something to do with depression? It is encouraging to learn that I am not the only one experiencing this debacle with video games. Maybe we're all depressed? Or there might be more to this... All of the money I have spent recently on this video game journey came from an insurance payoff from my brother's death. He had a life insurance plan in my name. I had no idea. I have been feeling guilty that I spent all this money on something I'm not enjoying and not utilizing. I'm hoping the new generation of Unreal Engine 5 games will break new ground and capture my heart like it used to be captured. In addition to the computer and other gaming hardware, I spent $30K on a 6DOF servo actuator controlled motion platform for sim racing. This sim rig is still in boxes. I'm holding out hope that when I finally build it and start a RU-vid channel, I will somehow find enjoyment again, yet I'm not all that motivated because when I play the sim racing titles using a game pad, my opinion is that these racing titles are lacking. They are not good enough. There's no sense of speed. The exception being rally games. I'm just not having any fun with them, and I love auto racing. These sim racing titles lack everything that makes auto racing so awesome. The sound sucks. The feeling of speed sucks and the graphics are too perfect. Auto racing is fast, brutal and messy. Sim racing is reserved, clean and slow. I have a glimmer of hope when I play rally games. The rally games do a much more accurate job of capturing the essence of auto racing. I'm wondering if alcohol might be the solution. If I could manage alcohol consumption in a controlled setting and not allow it to destroy me, it might just be the thing to make video games fun again? I have a theory. It's possible that fun is absent from games as of late, as the profit-driven gaming industry has become more and more commodified, where short cuts are taken and true innovation is avoided. Rehashing old game tech is the status quo.. more accurately, rehashing old game tech while increasing resolution is the status quo. It's the cheap and easy way out. All FPS games are basically, fundamentally the same game, just with different narratives and different eye candy. The same could be said with racing titles. Rehashing the old, worked for a while, yet it has run its course. The human brain adjusts. What was once amazing is no longer amazing. Now we are like sheep blindly chasing a brain state that once was, but can only be achieved again through new innovation. Yet there is no new innovation. What we need are radically new rendering models and new coding philosophies, and new business models within the industry. It's going to require risk-taking, time, and investment; devs who are willing to risk putting profit second in line to new innovation. A new generation of video games that captures the essence of the human experience. More detail, yet this does not mean more resolution. Smarter coding. Tiled rendering. More randomization and imperfection. Incorporate photogrammetry and other techniques that break from the status quo. This takes work, yet we have devolved into a society where cell phone games are more profitable than all else. There is no motivation for major devs to invest in new innovation when we keep chasing after and eating up the same old stuff they are feeding us. This plateau we hit stopped being fun 5-10 years ago.

One suggestion that came in my mind would be to simplify your setup for a while. Get grounded and just have a single monitor, a keyboard, a mouse, a headset and a controller and nothing more. I agree, and would place the emphasis on the social context. In school and early 20s most of us had a tight-knit group of friends to play games with, and this gradually changes over the years as they move away, change interests or acquire additional responsibilities. Games die for us when all our friends are too busy to play with us any more, in my experience.

The thing about videogames is that they USED to be designed in such a way where the act of playing it itself was directly fun and engaging. Certain games still hold up to that; Doom Eternal, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Super Mario Sunshine, etc. However, I personally noticed games shifted away from this design philosophy. Maybe not intentionally, but they focused way, way more on keeping the Player preoccupied rather than actively engaged. Your attention is held, but you aren't necessarily having "fun". This is what a lot of open world games do and I call it the Minecraft affect; you're not really having "fun", but you ARE immersed. Doesn't have to be a bad thing, a lot of games engage you at this level like Red Dead Redemption and Deep Rock Galactic. They don't make themselves challenging and demanding so much as work you into the groove of playing the game like a well oiled machine and you're still getting some reward out of the experience. But there ARE certain devs that took this too far. The ones who went "Games as a service" and molded their entire market practice around keeping people's attention and building brand loyalty through predatory means. You know these games; games you play that aren't even enjoyable, but you are distracted and you bought this pretty skin for your character that you get to show off when you play, but oh no! Then new skins come out and other people are showing off their clout as well and YOU need to keep up and keep playing and get the items out of the Battle Pass and so on and so forth. "F.O.M.O." Fear of missing out. This is the philosophy EVERY game on the market is trying to hook you with these days. And it is sad because not only are these games not fun, they are actively manipulative. It is the same as being a little kid in a group of other kids and you are all doing what the group leader wants to do because he thinks it's "fun" and no one wants to speak up otherwise because then you're the odd man out and don't get to play with the group.

Could be that the physical act of gaming just isn't that engaging anymore- as you grown experienced, the challenge of each new game diminishes, the potential space of new perspectives to explore grows smaller and so it grows harder to find a game that is as truly engaging in the same way as when you were young and fresh. The good news is that the world itself is inexhaustible in terms of new things to experience, and there is always some new skill which can challenge you. For my own part, I've been getting much more into sports- fencing, parkour, hiking/camping, which provide the same thrill of adventure and discovery that games once did. I also am secure in the knowledge that so long as games are being produced, some of them will be fresh and exciting and respark my joy for them- for me, Hades such a game, which brought back the wonder and excitement I experienced with games like Zelda and the Elder Scrolls when I was a kid. It was a transient pleasure, but it was a real one. That's fine by me. I know that if I am patient and open, I will have more experiences like that in the future from things I can't even imagine now. One realization I had a while back that I think is very important is that chasing nostalgia is a dead end. You can't recreate the past, no matter how much you might want to. This seems sad at first, but remember that when you were creating your most cherished memories, you weren't thinking about how you would feel remembering it, you were just living your life. Now is the time that you create your future's nostalgia. Let go of what worked in the past and just live in the present. Cliche, I know, but it's a cliche because it works

I think it’s because of how society re-wires us as we age. It changes us to constantly want an end goal and know how to get there and to stay busy. I used to play games like Minecraft just, to play them. If I did happen to have an end goal who knew how I would do it? I just played along and had fun. Now, everytime I play Minecraft I can’t just relax and go with it, I have to think of what to do first, how to make these farms and do things efficiently, what my base must look like, the resources, and how I will get food. One big factor people often overlook is the social aspects of it. When you're a kid, most schools are on the same schedule. Your friend group likely even went to the same school. It was much easier to all hop on the same game and play together. As adults, schedules differ too much and life catches up too often. It's MUCH harder to "get the squad together" as an adult. Some games aren't different at all. The only difference is you're alone and making friends online isn't the same anymore. Especially without the friends you know in-person.

The reality is that when we were kids, playing video games was our ultimate idea of fulfillment. All we were trying to accomplish in life was getting through school and homework obligations to go play a great video game as long as we could. Some of my "perfect" days as a kid were the ones where I played games for 8+ hours straight. Not to say that we didn't like hanging out with friends too, because I certainly have great memories from time spent with friends and family. But it wasn't a need to hang out with them all the time back then. Honestly, how many times did you physically hang out with your friends outside of school in middle school? Probably once or twice a month for me. But I was happy with that! I was content to just play games most days. But now at age 22 there is so much more I need lined up to be happy. Am I going to be able to find a career that covers my enormous student debt? Will I like that job? And if I don't, can I even have a good life knowing that I'm just going to be slaving away at the same shitty job for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, for 365 days a year until I'm 70? What about girls? Why can't I get laid consistently when it seems so easy for other people? Am I ever going to find true love? And let's say by some miracle I find true love and have a great job that I find enjoyable and pays me so well that I don't have to worry about money. I still have aging and the slow decent towards death to think about. It's hard to ignore now. Time goes by quicker and quicker each year. I can't kid myself and act like I'm going to be 10 forever. We know percentages and statistics now; I might very well be more than a quarter of the way through my life? What will ultimately have been the point to all this once it's over? I guess the answer is to just enjoy life now? This is the best time of our lives, apparently. But we have so much to worry about, our futures are so uncertain, and, since we're all introverts, we don't go out to frat parties and hook up with girls on Tinder every week. We just sit at home and try to find something else to occupy our brains with, ultimately realizing that we can't. Video games can't fill the newfound holes in our hearts.

I feel like the problems with video games is 1. There’s no such thing as skilled progression anymore. Almost everything is pay to win now so it’s very discouraging trying to grind for something and get better at it when you see a lot of RU-vidrs and Streamers paying to get it right away 2. Everything has shifted to being super competitive now instead of casual fun. Don’t get me wrong competitive gaming is fun but that also limits how many games you can really enjoy. Unless you’re spending a ton of money to get content and loot boxes right away, you have to spend all your hours on one game in order to be successful in that specific game. It ends up feeling like a chore.

I've been searching for a solution to this issue for a long time, and from what I've gathered, modern social media and RU-vid surfing has trained our brains to desire quick and fast dopamine hits from videos or cheap and interesting content, making longer more involved processes like playing video games boring. Your/my attention span has dwindled and our brains would rather bounce from video to video whether it be on ticktock, YT, or instagran stories. Internet overdose id call it, and my proposed solution is to massively reduce the amount of manufactured fast food like content you let into your mind, and do things you would've done as a child for fun without modern technology. I’ve often thought about this. My best memories of games, probably 80% of the time, were with friends and family. You mentioned it in your video, talking about playing with friends. No shiny 4K 60fps game can match the memory-making of 4 kids crammed in a loft playing teenage mutant ninja turtles in the 1980’s. That game was crap. I’ve never beaten it. But darn it, I still have such fond memories of that and Pizza Hut (before it tasted like cardboard) and it was all we knew. We are really missing the human element and optimism of older games.

@DustinRodriguez1_0
@DustinRodriguez1_0 2 года назад
When people are young, they have almost no control... over anything. They don't pick what clothes they wear, what words they say, where they go, what they do, absolutely nothing. Parents got all confused why kids don't want to go play outside any more... but kids only stopped wanting to do that when parents started thinking they should go WITH them. It's no fun when there is someone standing over your shoulder watching what you do, judging it, yelling at you if you go to do something even slightly dangerous or risky, etc. Kids turned to videogames because it was the only avenue through which THEY were in control. THEY were able to explore, doing whatever THEY wanted, and when they learned things about how those simulated worlds worked, they would get better and be able to do even more things. That kind of learning and gaining capabilities through experimentation is pretty much what humans are built to do. When you are older, though, and have autonomy in the real world... the autonomy in videogames isn't as alluring because it's fairly limited in payoff. Sure you learn how to play that game better and you explore what the creators of the game made which is interesting and artistic.... but at the end, you don't really have anything to show for it. While if you go explore and experiment and do something in physical reality, you end up with real outputs. If you try your hand at like making a craft or doing some kind of woodworking or making a piece of software or even just moving shit around in your house to redecorate... when you're done, you've got something to look at. You have an artifact of your effort. That's more rewarding than a game which leaves very little evidence that you've done anything at all. The autonomy offered by videogames is a lifesaver when you're young, as autonomy and controlling your own choices and actions is a fundamental deep-rooted human need. But once you're an adult, or even an older teenager, and that autonomy encompasses more of your life... games change their importance. They still provide a bit of social interaction, and give you cultural touchstones you can share with other people, and especially smaller indie games often offer meaningful stories and experiences, but they end up in the category of media similar to movies and books... except many games are gigantic time-sinks. You can watch a movie in 90 minutes and have a rollercoaster emotional memorable experience. But for games, you often have to sink HUNDREDS of hours into them. That's pretty rough when you've got not just a lot of other things you have to do, but a lot of other things you could be doing instead.

Every day in school I would agree with some friends to play "again today as soon as we’re home" And it was fun. But since the first lockdown I felt an urgent need to better manage my time. I lost track of what made me fun. I lost track of what I really wanted. Even though being at home, playing games, watching anime, reading and learning what I wanted should’ve been the best time ever. But I somehow lost everything that time Nowadays I play Genshin an hour a day bc I "need to progress" and only sometimes I feel like it’s fun. Mostly, I feel as if I’m loosing time elsewhere. Then I’m on RU-vid, on Crunchyroll, on Insta… throwing away more time I feel better learning stuff. Doing something for uni. I love math and physics and what I’m learning should be my dream. And whenever I do and I actually learn it feels great and the hours fly by But I can’t just start. I’m lost. No games make fun since the first lockdown. Anime seem to shred my time. I’m overwhelmed by the amount of books I have left to read. I stopped meeting my friends… It all started when games became less fun in March 2020 Even now I’m on RU-vid. Writing ppl I will most likely never meet and never get to know. It’s a strange world we live in…

Bro I have been saying this exact same thing for YEARS now and not enough listen to it. That is absolutely 100% true. Gamers used to have a hardcore gamer turned game-developer at the wheel steering the development team.. Now.. it's a rich guy who doesn't give a SHIT about games themselves, he just wants MORE MORE MORE for LESS LESS LESS in every conceivable way. Gaming Industry will one day he Murdered by one thing and one thing alone; Corporate Greed. And this goes far beyond games, it's the entire world. The Elites rule the gaming industry now, it just took them 20 years to completely buy it.
@tacosmexicanstyle7846

This definitely feels true now, but it’s always been the case in the gaming industry to some extent. Maybe it’s more so now, I don’t know. Like Nintendo was always a big profit driven company. I think the difference is that publishers have way more control over AAA dev companies than they used to. Publishers used to approach devs and work together with them, and in the last 25 years especially since Sony got big, the publishers have been straight up buying out game dev companies. Indie games are the only ones that have ever truly been made by gamers for gamers, and I tend to find them much more fun. Corporation made games are created to keep you paying and playing, not for fun. There just aren’t any AAA developers that operate with the same ethos as indie developers anymore, since they’re all owned by their publishers.

@WaterishDog "Crappy CGI animations" "Stupidly funny videos with no context" It not being brought by Microsoft wouldn't really change that. It's the community being trash. @@VitaminJay253 I think social media has conditioned everyone to need social validation for everything. I never got into online multiplayer or social media for that matter. I did some Xbox LAN parties in high school. That was definitely fun, but modern MMOs seem completely different. Zelda: BOTW is the most fun I have ever had, period. It's not really a question of multiplayer vs single though. That's just preference. Just too many publishers chasing realism and artificially bloating the play time. AC Odyssey is beautiful and immersive, but you get the whole experience in 2 hours. Then rinse and repeat the same quests for another 20. Even the Witcher 3 bored me to tears after 20 hours and I was obsessed with the idea of it after the original trailers. I'm so sick of walking around "realistic" games looking at the textures up close and thinking "hmm, wish that was 8k". I haven't done that once in a Nintendo game. The arcade controls are always better too. I don't want my character to realistically turn and slowly accelerate into a walk. I hated Last of Us for that. I didn't even finish it. Such a good story but they forgot they were making a GAME. Save realism for VR. When you move a character with a joystick and the entire complicated process of walking, jumping, ledge climbing is all done for you it feels like a quick time event. What's the point? Just make it snappy and feel good.

I used to have fun being glued to the TV playing video games when I was younger. The fact that GAMES themselves have changed is what stalled my interest in them. In games today, you have to have solve a riddle, go through a tutorial, go looking for stuff, sit through some text or cutscenes, you have to read a bunch of stuff BEFORE you get to the action vs. back then in the 8 bit/16 bit era with games like TMNT the ORIGINAL arcade game (not the NES version) or Double Dragon where there's plenty of action AS SOON AS you play and you don't have to go looking for action. So, this is MY reason for not wanting to play games today. My other reason??? Well, this reason might be super different. But, I'm a bit of an Indie game developer too. And I find it WAYYY more fun MAKING games instead of playing them. So, my time making games has replaced my time of playing them. I hope this makes sense.

The same good games and memories with friends and the same inevitable staleness of those games. I am bittersweet about those memories and I hope that some day, a game will roll along and give me that same feeling that I’m so nostalgic for. However, I will say that my best recent video game experience has been hollow knight. If you haven’t played it, please do. It might help to reignite that fire.

But this time the reward for the effort is a lot less because you've already done it before... That’s because there’s hardly any originality in the gaming industry nowadays. And even when something and fresh and original comes out, it doesn’t get executed well.

Same here, I go on minecraft to play on my world then leave 10 minutes later. I love Minecraft so much and have a lot of nostalgia for it. I remember building different minecart tracks that went through different biomes and buildings, I tried recreating it but It was extremely bad. Mostly because my motivation just went down the gutter, it made me really sad because I had so much playing Minecraft back then.

I agree about "We're not what we used to be" part. Back when I was 8, I discovered Minecraft and immediately hit off. I would constantly research, watch gameplays, tutorial and even downloaded the Crack version (since it was paid) just so I was finally able to play it I remember telling my classmates about it and we would form a huge circle of friendship solely due to Minecraft. We would create our own Minecraft Fictional stories and art crafts of it The only main problem I had that time was that I never got to play the authentic real version of Minecraft. I would always play the crack version (PC) or APK (Tablet). Fast forward till today, I am nearly 17 and I finally bought my own Gaming Laptop alongside with the Authentic Minecraft Java Edition. However, as result of playing Minecraft constantly in the past mainly from 7-14 years old, I came to realize that I just sat there in front of the screen, staring at it now. I didn't know what to do. I remember my 12 year old self built a bloody CITY from scratch but now that I am nearly 17, I just don't know what to do. In other words, I was bored. I didn't had the motivation to build in creative nor play survival to beat the game Because I have already done all of this in the past. It just wasn't fun anymore as it used to be. Despite the fact that now I am finally able to play with Shaders since I wasn't able to in the past, I would just look and wander around the World without doing anything. Even though I would force myself to play it now, I would literally not be able to make it past atleast 1 hour of playing it. Nonetheless, the memories that I have created with this game will forever be the greatest memories I have ever had

aand, i also was known on this one minecraft server for cheating, a LOT, i was sick of losing, then i got the cheats and, i had a blast playing 1 hour long bedwars games, but now with the cheats getting patched, the only games i could only possible play 10 minute games, i loved getting EVERYTHING maxed out, weapons and all, then raiding all the bases, running around in the map, with a sensation of excitement and fear, those were the best times

damn im 15 but i actually still think minecraft is fun because i only play on this 1 smp with friends from a discord server and it always reset every 1-2 month then i was always excited to make farms and then just become rich and give new players stuff but now im starting to get bored too, like i just dont have the motivation to start building a farm like when i used to spent like 4 hour to collect material and then spending 2 hour building it while also watching the tutorial and putting the block 1 by 1 edit : noone cares but i just wanna tell that i got banned from the server cus the owner gives full server control to his friend becus hes busy irl so he cant manage the server and his friend keep saying going ontop nether roof is making the server lag even though theres no real reason why, she even leaks coordinates of my farms and base, so i stopped going on my farms that are on top of nether roof anyways but then i saw my friend who is new at minecraft making a zombie spawner farm except he turns the zombie to drowned cus he said he wanted a trident so i wanted to make a huge square of water at a river to try and get a trident for him, but then the owner's friend banned me after saying "sorry, this is order from the higher-ups", its either the owner's friend lied and exaggerated it and told the owner, saying that im trying to make a huge farm that can crash the server, or its because the owner doesnt really play minecraft so he doesnt understand anything so he just told his friend to ban me or it could be both so yeah... probably gonna go back to roblox because i only play minecraft on the server i just mentioned but now that i got banned i dont know any other server i can play on that is fun + all my friends still stays on that server but the reason i got back on minecraft is because im bored of roblox games....so now i dont know what to play now, does that mean i have to start thinking about my future anyways what if someone replies "lmao this kid really got depressed cus he got banned on a minecraft server 😹" 💀

I think it’s because, once upon a time, games weren’t JUST about personal enjoyment, but were ALSO a great medium for bonding with friends. They still CAN be, if you make them that way, it’s just sad that now the developers won’t make them that way.

I miss "true" multiplayer: People you can sit next to and bond. The more we connect through social media, the more disconnected we become. And that's because our connections are superficial. The term "friend" has been used carelessly where it doesn't have the same impact or meaning anymore. I don't have tons of "friends". I have tons of acquaintances. Video games are still fun for me if they have a story as I LOVE to read. Games like CoD or Fortnite--basically Battle Royale style--doesn't appeal to me. I want to use my brain rather than play mindlessly. Right now I'm enjoying games like Subnautica where I can just sit there and explore and give myself personal challenges (e.g. no vehicles allowed. If I need air, I must build a temporary base) as it forces me to think outside of the box and get creative.

@@FallenAngelHiroko Don’t lose hope. My brother first met his sweetheart as a friend in WoW. She ended up moving across the country to be with him 🙂 Those virtual connections can still yield great friendships, if the game is right. We just gotta start making them right, y’know?

For me? It's VR. That whole feeling of "Oh games can be this...!" I had when I played Playstation 2 for the first time, is coming back when playing VR. And it's incredible. It's not childhood nostalgia level of great, but it's the closest I've been in decades. Working hard and only giving yourself X amount of time to game helps too. It brings back the feeling of having to do school and home-work before being allowed on the computer. Limit the time you get to play and you'll enjoy your playtime way more.
