Even as the world progresses, and technology changes, the assassins have managed to remain an effective and powerful order. let's try to understand why.

Who’s cooler, older assassins or newer ones
@tenthclassgaming

Definitely the first games. Altaïr essentially redefined the Brotherhood, Ezio had an entire trilogy, & of course the Kenways were great. Most of the modern protagonists are pre-Assassin Assassins or aren't even in the Hidden Ones.

Fighting for freedom against tyranny is what sets the brotherhood apart. "You would see all of mankind corralled into a neatly furnished prison, save and sober ....... yet dulled beyond reason and sapped of all spirit." Edward Kenway

i’ve always thought that Assassins fought to keep humans as humans. I feel that humanity’s freedom of thought and expression is what keeps us unique and humans rather than just thoughtless and obedient robots. I feel a Templar utopia is not worth living if youre never able to fully experience life or be different

If you think in Syndicate ,Evie plays like an olden era assassin who wanted to go quietly about her like even If she assassinated a few in public she had a few mission to stay undetected things while Jacob wanted to create an influence, fear into the enemies. And politics is shown very well in AC revelations too the way ezio chooses to assassinate there is very fascinating.

2:35 Your point about the trend line is SPOT ON! I think something that's really difficult about AC is everyone wants A. a new setting and B. to retain everything they liked about the old setting but could you imagine the rope launcher or something in the RPG series? It would just be silly! Or how about AC1's buildings in Unity? When you have a series that changes the way AC does from instalment to instalment you can't have a linear progression of EVERY mechanic and still fit thematically into the setting. As frustrating as it is I think it's the main aspect that keeps people talking about the series and curious to see what the next one will be like even though "they're all the same". Great vid! I'm curious if there are any other assassin's you'd be interested in talking about. Like, 'Is Third Echelon the modern day brotherhood or is Sam Fisher an unwitting Templar?'

I think the best depiction of what an assassin would be like comes from the movie Serenity. The Operative is a man who wholeheartedly believes what he does is evil, and that men like him have no place in the kind of world he wants to create. The kind of man who would commit suicide the minute he believes his work is done, because what he represents is the tyrannical means to an end he would never allow himself to be a part of. A future he doesnt deserve to be part of, but until that future comes he is all too willing to do whatever it takes to get there. The Operative obviously takes it further than the assassins, willing to slaughter women and children for the slightest benefit to his cause, but his keen moral awareness at the horror and suffering he brings in his wake without even a shred of regret is the epitome of the assassin in my mind. A monster whose actions may foster positive change, but a monster all the same.
@RaNgErs_Rep
@RaNgErs_Rep 28 дней назад
Honestly sounds more like a templar with the end justify the means but still a very good observation
@DrOmni
@DrOmni 28 дней назад
@@RaNgErs_Rep I too had this thought, that maybe what I saw in the Operative is more like a Templar than Assassin, especially since he's an overt villain in the story in question. But let's not pretend there is much difference when it comes to their willingness to do evil for a perceived greater good. Assassins are, by definition, mass murderers, thieves and manipulators. Despite their rules about collateral damage, they are all too eager to put entire battalion of largely innocent soldiers to the sword because the end justify the means. Templars only differ in the scope of their ambition. Willing to put grand schemes at work, schemes that bring devastating short term collateral for long term gain on a political scale. So while I think your hesitation is valid, is it really accurate?

Along with the politics of assassins there is also how finance subtly plays an increased role in the game, showcasing how the image of the assassins is often split not only with morals and politics, but with financial capabilities. Note how in some of the games money is needed and earned while in others raw materials and resources are needed for upgrades. In ac1 upgrades were given as rewards but in a few of the later games money became a key feature to acquiring upgrades. But in the prequel games while money is used, materials can also be gathered to upgrade equipment. Just something I’ve noticed

Very interesting the distinction that you make between the "older" Assassins and the "newer" ones. This constant change between time and setting, and thus the politics and weaponry of each era and region, is part of what makes Assassin's Creed so unique and interesting in contrast to other stealth, action game franchises. How many games like AC III or Unity exist, for example....?

I really interested in seeing you do a tier list for the AC games. I like when AC content creators do this to gage their overall view on the franchise. I feel I'd disagree with your Syndicate placement judging on what you said about the game lol. Gotta say it is at least nice to have a AC game with the Unity systems and visuals bit that isn't utterly broken and that has a fully functional stealth system.

Off topic but I'd love to play an ac as hasan sabbah (1st assassin irl). Irl he had absurdly loyal assassins (to the point ppl called them hashashiyin(assassin)-basically meaning weed smokers and theyd do very brutal public assassinations to raise awareness and spread fear. He lived ab 50-100yrs b4 ac1 In the game u would start as a kid training and ur dad's saying ur basically the last assassin so u need to form a brotherhood. U spend the game building ur brotherhood and brutally killing like irl and ur 2 most loyal assassins r al Mualim and altairs dad who both see u as their father Last mission, altairs dad snakes u and u and mualim kill him then as he's dying he's saying ur not following the tenants of the creed and ur using the apple to make us loyal (explaining the hashashiyin thing) and killing innocents in ur public massacres. Ur quite old now and ponder over what he said and realise hes right so u hide the apple or sm and change the assassinations to be how we know the creed to act in other games to show how the creed got from irl to altair. Also al mualim decides to adopt altair and basically tell him ur dad was killed by templars so become an assassin which is how we get to that game.
@Ziyaad-pg9gq
@Ziyaad-pg9gq 28 дней назад
Al mualim will still disagree tho and will become grand master in ur old age and sideline u in the brotherhood, finding the apple and ultimately power making ppl follow him blindly like u did

As much as I would love a Hasan game, I'd rather have him as a mentor and play as a fictional Assassin. A bit of a digression but historical Hasan and Rashid (AC1 Almualim) were never warriors, they were scholars, spiritual leaders and politicians like Mirabeau in Unity. I think this should be respected and developped more in the games rather than make every Assassin a skilled warrior and murderer. The first game made clear "mentor" (historically da'i) never was a natural progression from "master Assassin" (fida'i), Almualim or any rafiq not missing their finger was definitely on purpose before it was later retconned. Now every one and their mother have their finger cut, like in Mirage, which is in my opinion stupid. Also, we already know everything about Altair's childhood and his father. Umar sacrificed himself after a failed assassination attempt on Salah ad-Din (a real event by the way). Then Abbas's father slit his throat out of guilt in front of Altair.

Great video, I would like to know what’s your opinion on the assassins creed movie I know some people have mixed feelings about it but I think there were some things that the film did right. Even though it was a colossal fuck up for Ubisoft I hope that they learned their lesson and I hope they deliver with their Netflix series Something that I love about assassins is that they are good at finding out what the Templars are doing for example Ezio snakes into the meeting quietly and then he reports them to the assassins. I noticed that the Borgia family members are sort of politicians they want Italy to be corrupt.
