A friend of mine explained these intense feelings to some people like this: "Take any feeling you have, and multiply it x100. That's what Green Roc deals with everyday." I wouldn't think it is x100, but certainly what I feel, at any time, is multiplied if compared to non-autistics.

Thank you so much for having this channel! I have a son who is 24. He has mental heath issues Autism, ADHD and anxiety. He never leaves the house. He only leaves his room to go to the bathroom or to get a snack. He eats in his room. He is on medication for his mental health and ADHD. He has progressively cut himself off from the world. He was not this bad in the 7th grade. He had friends and skate boarded and went out every day then slowly got worse. He was going to a therapist for 2 years. He won’t go now. Thank you for helping me understand my son! Much Love.... xoxo

Willow v I don’t remember the year my son decided to stay in the house all the time. He stopped attending school in the 7th grade. My son still doesn’t want to leave the house. He is still eating in his room. He started to act happier in the last 6 months. It has been a surprise but it is nice to see him smile. I don’t know what made him change a little but I like it. I pray for my son. I want him to have a good life.

I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Major Depressive Disorder as well as Autism which makes things a lot harder to deal with. But I have learned through therapy, taking medication and my own coping skills how to deal with things and I want to encourage others to keep on, keeping on if you are struggling with the same things! Things do get better 😊💜🖒

I told a coworker about my autism and she began telling me I didn't seem like it because I was coherent, talked about how people use to consider kids with disabilities to be bad kids, referred to a quirk of hers as "her autism", and touched my shoulder. I was pretty upset because I can't try to correct someone without sounding condescending so I just had to deal with the unintended insults.

Happy Halloween 🎃 Today was the best Halloween I’ve ever had, usually because of anxiety and my autism I didn’t have many close friends and I’d tag along with my sister or stay at home, but after being in three friend groups, finally today me and my friends were hanging outside around our area and we spent some time in a park in the dark, and it was great, no one was there so we played hide n seek in the dark (ik childish but it was fun)

Totally relate, it happens at work every work day. But, I do help customers socially. Eye contact hurts with certain people. Deep breathing helps as you said. Especially, to people who I have no connection with. Or a boss, etc. Need a therapist! Wish I could...took a while to get a previous one then they dropped me, but not money wise. Anyway, I'm glad I'm not alone. And understand it more.

Therapy/counseling is SO HELPFUL. It has been *the* most helpful thing since my dx. I was lucky to get my dx from a fantastic therapist who specializes in autism, specifically women/girls on the spectrum and she is beyond amazing. The growth and understanding I have gained in just the 2 months we've worked together has been incredible. I still have a long way to go and a lot of work to do, and honestly I can't wait to see where I go from here.

Hi Dan, I am ok with a few words with a stranger, especially if I have something in common with them. Today I saw two elderly gentlemen walking their dogs past the grocery store I was headed to. I love dogs, and lost my little dog a few months ago to a terminal illness. I talked with the two guys for a minute, pet one dog, and then left. It was pleasant, but I could not do more. A group of people in a social situation is awful, though with family members and very close friends it is better. As a senior with autism, anxiety is something I have dealt with every day since my childhood. School was hell; adulthood is better.

Maybe it depends on if you get the right therapist. I haven't had much success with them and have been trying to manage with medication. I wish therapy could work for me, although I never really looked for a therapist who deals with Autism and Depression/Anxiety. Another thing is cost. I don't have any extra money to spend for that. It's not easy to find a therapist that takes the Medicare insurance I have in the USA.

Dan I have dyspraxia symptoms which impacts me greatly and as a result I am very accident prone and I have poor hand to eye co-ordination. There are no counsellors in Thurrock who have an understanding of autism as I was told by a CBT therapist that it was not worth it as I am the only one client who he has met who said that they have autism. Sadly when I told the CBT therapist did not change the way he counselled me, even when I told him that it did not work with me. I explained that I am unable to visualise or approach shop assistants to explain that I am autistic, or even showing my autism alert as that causes me too much anxiety as I am worrying that I am holding up the queue as they are shoppers behind me. On top of that I am a slow shopper and it takes me longer for me to pack things due to my poor hand and eye co-ordination issues and that I have hypermobility in my wrists. CBT did not work for me, but I will be going for a mindful course. There was a stress and anxiety as well as confidence and assertive course that I went on in the past at MIND but the course is not being run any-more.

Hey dan, followed you on here for over a couple years now, quite good videos have had a very high level of asperger's since i was born.. Such as never stopping screaming as a baby no eye contact ever etc trouble settling to school when started at age 4 i am told by mum school also noticed it & obssesional arranging seam bobbles on socks for hour at home before going into reception class as sensory made feet feel horrible and set off anxiety also age 4-6 years i also had to arrange nerly 200 soft toys i collected on bed in the order where they would all be with their friends only cus was convinced that young they came to life at night xD and wouldnt let my mum say the same good night words /pattern.. in the same order.. It wouldn't matter how late i made her stay up she had to say it in that.. Night night sweet dreams and a couple other things And wouldn't let her say it or go off/ unless she would come back right after i finished arranging them until after i was finished making sure all soft toys were with their friends in order & once got impatient refused to say night & i had a rily severe aspergic meltdown the whole night.. & was one of worst meltdowns of my life/nights.. With the adhd worsening alot when i was 20 years old.. And always had high level anxiety used to have depression As a girl with the masking commonly i developed bdd in high school, avoided lessons alot.. Cudnt talk at all in classes or group up easily or at all with people often enjoyed being in libary music rooms or even loos.. On own due to my bdd.. & it got severe then to point i missed 40% of last two years tho not before then was very good attendance.. So is probably reason i still passed all ten with half A's & B's also.. Is there any chance u cud pls do a video in the future on asperger' and bdd.. maybe you may know a gurl who has this who could help with the video? Anyway:) starting to learn more about it recent years /coping mechanisms:) Also did you know the famous artists Gary Numan /Eminem has asperger's

I was diagnosed with depression at age 19,and anxiety at 20. Now at age 51, with ADHD and probably ASD, I wonder about the first two being a byproduct of the the latter two. We can callnthem comorbidities, I suppose. I dont think the first two were the major problem. I may not have suffered so much 33 years ago or more, if there had been enough research. Love the videos

sometimes I feel like my having ADHD in conjunction with ASD is a blessing in disguise because one way in which the overlap is in social situations, before my anxiety can get the best of me, or before my sensory overload or any of that stuff starts to happen, my ADHD is already keeping me distracted, or ive already walked away from the situation or completely spaced out. Its like my spacyness and daydreamyness and lack of focus prevent me from having meltdowns, shutdowns, and panic attacks. idk, cant tell really.

Ide also like to add that, difficult as it may be, like many things in life when you push through, things tend to get slightly better even if not right away. I am in the military and, there are a lot of situations were I have to put my personal stuff aside, get up, and put one foot in front of the other. To be fair, military punitive measures are always an effective motivation to push through something. But in doing so, it has become much easier for me over time to take a breath and then act.

The therapists that I have dealt with it seems like my children and I are smarter than them and they say stupid things I had one therapist I was teaching him about Asperger’s this particular man was trying to do us a favor because at the time I didn’t have a car and I couldn’t get over to the appointment so he would come to our house for family therapy but he basically acted rushed charged insurance for driving over and then would only spend 10 to 15 minutes in a rush talking to us so of course the three of us would analyze him and how he would talk to us and The only thing he was good for was bringing us some McDonald’s and this is just one of the therapists, and then because of this fail and all the other fails my older son now thinks therapy won’t work for him😩
