I'm not extremely nervous for BMT (still nervous because I genuinely care) but I know that AIT will probably be a bigger hurdle that I know I'll get through. @jonalynbaldoza5508
@jonalynbaldoza5508 3 года назад
Here in the Philippines, that's the normal upbringing. Most filipino kids grow up that way... like, our chores are basically considered hard labor. My father grew up in the province and when he was little, he had to sell vegies barefoot by the road before he go to school (he was barefoot because the roads are muddy and he can't enter class with dirty slippers)... Then, when I was 6 yrs old, we live above our food stand and I had to help serve customers before I go to school and after getting home from school. Every filipino have stories like these. Only the uber rich don't get to experience the life of a free labor kid. Then when you're all grown up, your parents will demand payment for being raised by them. When I was in college, my Mom had to beg my Dad to pay my tuition fee and she would convince him by saying that I'm an investment for their future... After college, I got out and worked far far away from them. I visit only once a year.
@dem4623

@@jonalynbaldoza5508 I disagree with this. I would do chores but not hard labour and I wasn’t a rich kid. You’re misrepresenting filipinos. I believe you had a hard upbringing but it’s a misrepresentation to say most kids go through this back home.

Im not saying this to misrepresent how its like growing up in the Philippines because this is the truth. If you don't have to carry a bucket of water for hygien or have to walk to school miles away without parental guidance, then you grew up among the middle class which is a smaller percentage of the Phillipines population than the lower class who goes through this type of childhood until now.

my story is very similar to hers. i’ve grown up with a lot of verbal and sometimes physical abuse coming from my mom, and it put me into a very depressive state. she constantly invalidates my feelings, and i never had friends to help me get through these tough times. i only had myself. TW i’ve thought suicide and have almost came close to it multiple times. recently my dad have encouraged me to join the air force to get away from my mom and show her that i’m worth more than what she thinks i am. (she has called me lazy, and tells me im going nowhere in life) im going to prove to her that i am. i have also planned out a business that i want to work on and plan out a bit while serving. i think my life is going in a good direction. i genuinely thank my dad for giving me courage. bella is really amazing for not giving up. i know how hard it is, so i definitely can say she’s a strong individual.

It’s my first time seeing this but anyone who makes it through that kind of bull shit in life as well as anything at all to do with military is a blessing Especially if you live through it all. My brother tried to make it in the job world and fucked up relationships and just couldn’t take it so he joined the army’s 82nd Airborne. It’s hard on everyone in different ways... but guess I’ll make it. He was my only brother and well my sister tends to be a never ending phantom I never see. I also can never follow my brothers steps in anything military because I didn’t want to put my parents through that kind of pain anymore. The funny thing is our family isn’t really a true family at all. It’s just my parents and I and that’s all it will ever be. So .. cheers to anyone that makes it.
