I was a sophomore in high school and it was track season. We unloaded from the bus and were walking down the center of where the other buses were parked. Half way through was a kid sitting on top of a bus with a boom box playing Big Balls. “What the hell is that”. 40 years later, still listening.
I remember crying because I was laughing so hard at this song at probably age 12 or 13. What really sticks out is who was with me. My best friend who was my step brother would pass away in the near future.
I was 13 when Dirty Deeds was released in Canada in 1981 and every time me and buddies listened to "Big Balls" we would laugh uproariously. I'm 55 now, a grandfather and whenever I hear the song I still can't help but chuckle. Maybe one day I'll grow up.
I agree, classic song. I feel the original Australian version of the album has better songs - Dirty deeds done dirt cheap - Ain't no fun waiting round to be a millionaire - There's gonna be some rockin - problem child - Squealer - Big Balls - RIP rock in peace - ride on - Jailbreak
Oh yeah. “Love at first feel” isn’t missed there… some of these songs by old bands I think would get heads rolling at some of the lyrics if released today, that’s one of them
We got to listen to this song in one of my 7th grade classes. We were dupposed to be reading. I had broght a cheap cassette player to school and had an assortment of songs i had recorded from home. Eagles hotel california and others. And had this song big balls from acdc. Teacher for some reason let me play it in the class while we were supposed to be reading. Everyone including the teacher stopped and listened to this song as it started playing. Everyone including the teacher got a laugh and a bit shocked we were in school class listening to a song about big balls.
my first concert, early 80s fast forward 20 years Mississippi Gulf Coast Colosseum, i started singing Big Balls, people next to me joined in, then row behind us, section the right were next to join in, at the end of song everyone was singing Who has the biggest balls of them all
The pub scene in Australia back in the day you would play pool. What ever you sunk, could be small or big balls. The album cover, one of them, has an illustration of Bon Scott playing a game of pool. Im pretty sure it's about a game of pool. But anyone can interpret this song any way they like. It's a classic no matter which way you look at it. 😂
One of the best ac/dc songs in my favorite ac/dc album. DDDDC (Dirty deeds done dirt cheap). Personally I think Squealer is the best song in the album.
My college professors were wasting their time analyzing 60’s hippie lyrics. I like this video better. By the way, my Grandpa was well into his fifties when “Big Balls” was recorded. I feel old.
Tony, Big Balls is a song which shows that AC/DC has a sense of humor Quiche Loraine is mentioned in the fade of Big Balls as Loraine Quiche Listen to the fade ..crayfish isn't mentions at all Bon Scott was drunk when he sang Big Balls... Bullocks Knackers
🎸 I remember the Contact Magazines (inspiration for the Sleeve) on the top shelf of Stores along side the Porno . The whole Album makes Me laugh & that song is just humour no need to be analysed but so easily interpreted by all & I was 12 on it's release in 1976 😂😂
@@KillbotAndGorGorAttack I'm recently diagnosed autistic at 55. I saw AC⚡DC 1st time in Birmingham NEC 1983(?). For Those About To Rock tour with cannons on stage. As a Problem Child I took refuge and found kindred spirit in the Dirty Deeds album. Given up the grog now and my teeth are falling out. Didn't really expect to live this long. Life expectancy of autistic person is 55. 😄
His accent makes it sound like he's saying "social peggers," which, if you know what pegging is, makes the song so much more brilliant than the actual line.
The song doesn't really need much thought into what it's about. It's totally tongue in cheek left with loads of ambiguity for a good laugh but also a rebellious act of singing about something considered crude in the most open and out there kind of way. At that time sex was not really allowed to be sang about so explicitly because it was a social taboo so a lot of rock and roll sang about just that. This song however took it to the next level by being so purposeful by singing about big balls and then throwing in a curve ball to the critics by backtracking to ballroom dancing ie she's got big balls and also referring to high society balls. This would intentionally be used as a way to back track whenever someone said how crude of you to sing about that to which they could reply ballroom dancing? What's crude about that? What were you thinking about when you heard the song. It's 100% about testicles using a play on words even if it doesn't live up to the meaning of the song in order to make it tongue in cheek. It's not about trans rights especially at that time I doubt anyone really cared. This was about making a catchy taboo song that pissed off any conservative person of that time.
@@KillbotAndGorGorAttack me too that's self-titled album of his is probably my favorite overall album ever! Did you ever hear the album he followed up that took a few years to make called "the wreckcord" he released it independently on his own website I never managed to get a copy when it was first released I finally heard it on RU-vid last year if you look it up you'll find it check out the track "into my arms"👌
Unrelated to the video but, I just picked up lords of acid’s voodoo-u on cd but it was missing the booklet, since you know quite a bit more about buying music than I do I was wondering if buying booklets was a thing that exists or will I have to buy the album again
Yeah! Some ebay listings are “booklet only.” Sometimes people use the posters in booklets as “locker posters.” But Voodoo U is a special case because there are two artworks, the “censored” close-up of the two heads, and the “uncensored” orgy with several devil ladies.
Bon Scott AC/DC were the greatest. Its a shame he went so soon. Ironically, me and my trans friend used to play this song in a Mormon church all the time.
This song isn't even smart it's about a private part and is discguized as a song about something that has nothing to do with the real situation as to what the song is actually talking about.
