Nationality aside, I didn't see how they could justify hiring a manager who had never worked in English football and who, at the club level, only recently managed a ligue 2 side
Bradley is a decent manager imo. It's always tough for a manager with no PL experience to take charge during the middle of the season when the team is fighting relegation. And it certainly didn't help that the press and fans didn't take him seriously bc of his nationality.
Yeah, I think he's done fairly well pretty much everywhere else he's been. With the circumstances he came into at Swansea he was always fighting an uphill battle. His nationality definitely played a part too, like you said. If they were going to give him the job they should've done it prior to the start of the season I think!
Speaking as one of the most vocal of those fans and coming from one of the biggest social media groups of Swansea fans itself, we didn't dislike him because he was American whatsoever. We didn't like that he had already met with the American owners multiple times before his appointment at the club and Guidolin was sacked for a 2-1 loss to Liverpool. Nobody had any expectations of that game at all and to do it on his birthday AND announce the new manager at the hotel he was staying at was fucking horrendous form. We have a big affection for Francesco Guidolin at our club and although he didn't play the kind of football we wanted generally, he was a very positively received personality and understanding of the game that we needed after Monk destroyed the locker room spirit of the team.
I wanted Klinsman who was USA team boss at the time , The whole American thing will be put to the test at Leeds United being the first anything is going to be hard. In the UK there is still A massive problem with black mangers being given a chance even in the lower league's look at Sol Campbel top plate never given a job in the top 3 leagues . Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank top class player same problem . I know this is off topic but that's the way it is . I hope an American can be given a chance but in the prem you are lucky to get 15 games of you are not winning . Its a results based job that is still very bias .
@@daxpwnsyouall Garry Monk is a club legand . Can't you remember beating Valencia 3-0 or the Napoli game at home we were far from a toxic club. Just lack of funds to compeat at the highest levels . We were' a breath of fresh air when we want up last time' Garry Liniker motd. But years of under investment we are in a better position now then then 3 mil on a striker would of been a dream
@@davidjames6021 He may have been as a player, but as a manager he left a terrible legacy of an awful dressing room. Look into him leading the action of usurping Laudrup as manager, it really was awful tbqh and he carried that attitude through. Other clubs since have attested he had a similar impact at their clubs as a manager.
He came into a team that was having issues already, in mid-season. I I like Bradley, and I cant defend the stats, i know there is more that was going that was leading Swansea down, even if they did hold it off one more year. I remember him being completely destroyed in the media after he used American Terms, Road Games, PK, field , among others, obviously saying Soccer here and there as well. While there is more US players now then ever before in England & Europe, they all know that when traveling to Europe there are many who just don't believe Americans can play the game, with the biggest reason I have been told is we call it soccer, just to give example of how its just a stereotype. Put everything together and he was never going to succeed there.
Yeah the more that's was going on was having clueless American hedge fund owning us the reason he got the job, they threw him and the club under the bus.
I think you've got a spin on this that doesn't quite reflect the situation. We didn't want Bradley, we had Guidolin who had done well and just got given a new contract. He lost 3 games on the bounce to Man City x2 and Liverpool before being booted out. Being replaced almost the next day by Bradley. (This showed our owners had planned this for a while). It was veiwed as nepotism as Bradley had no top flight experience, no English league experience and had only ever done a mediocre job at LeHarve in Europe. He was given a chance, but he clearly just wasnt up to scratch to manage at the level required. Our tactics were abysmal and even the games we won under him we probably should not have. He had lost the players, it was obvious that most thought he was a joke. The immediate upturn in desire and form from them was quite telling.
Being very poor at the job he was doing was to blame. Swansea picked up 8 points out of a possible 33 and averaged conceding almost 3 goals a game, while dropping to the bottom of the league while he was in charge. They were outside the relegation zone when he took over and moved out back of it after he left. Pretty clear cut
Dunno what he's like now but he was awful for us, never a premier league manager. Never understood the concept of relegation as they don't have that system in USA. He was simply parachuted in due to us having American owners who are also clueless about football. They admitted that themselves. Simply never should of been given the job.
@@Chudsic and the irony is that Bob basically was so shite that he was a big reason why got relegated from the premier League. League 1 at best, even though we play in the championship. Your ignorance shines bright.
@@fractalofgod6324 It was destiny for that shite team to get relegated, whether Bob was there or not. and he's not responsible for keeping you in the championship since then. Hows this season going so far for Swans btw?
@@Chudsic I guess you must a second cousin of bobs the way you defending him or maybe your one of his ex rent boys. The fact is Bob couldn't manage his way out of a taco bell toilet. How we doing this season, I'll tell you, we are struggling because we have basically struggled ever since the yanks brought us, kaplin and Levine and this Hegde fund bunch of jackasses who won't invest any money. Americans should be banned from any involvement in football period. Look at the Glaziers at man utd, they are hated. All the swans fans hated Bob Bradley because he was utterly clueless so go and get some therapy to get over Bob.
