Why Cambridge 2nd Year Was The WORST Year Of My life! 

Heyyyy peopleee! Just wanted to clarify one thing in the video about my experience with the Islamic Society. Apart from the stchupid, ignorant, bad breath, & villain looking few people who made me feel like crap....the society is STILL AMAZING! And I wouldn’t want anyone to be put off from joining in October. I just want you to be cautious, and realise just because you might THINK they believe the same as you, there is still haters out there who we gotta be careful of! God has taught me to forgive them so I will, because girl they ain’t gonna stop me from making a change in this worldddd okurrrrr ✨✨✨

As an asian myself, i feel like asians in the uk who don’t just conform to stereotypes nor stay within their “own kind” are often ostracised by their own communities. Throughout secondary school i didnt really connect with any fellow desi asians because i’m not a typical conservative-minded STEM student. That probably happens to other desis like us. it’s sad. Also, hearing about how some of the ISOC students treated you is gross, if you weren’t taught about certain practices in islam by your family how is it your fault for not knowing??

It's so sad that isocs nowadays are so judgemental. The isoc at my uni is literally such an uncomfortable place for me to be because all they pay attention to is looks and skin colour and they automatically love you if you're fair. It's such a dumb toxic mentality to have and I know what you mean by them not really willing to help in terms of Islamic knowledge like I hate when people judge.

The friendship thing really hit hard I had a similar thing happen during second year where I pretty much fell out with everyone I'd known since first year and so ended up feeling pretty lost and isolated and being in the position where you need to kinda rebuild your social life is extremely difficult and painful but it's something I'm gonna have to try and do for third year

My heart hurts for you as I know the pain of being isolated from your friends and misunderstood by a whole school of people - it is especially upsetting when people you trust such as teachers buy into it all and you feel your support system crumble. I understand that it must feel like you are going insane, but please know that you are amazing and kind and so so immesurably helpful to us all. In Islam its encouraged to help other learn about the religion so what they did making fun, laughing etc for you not knowing and trying to learn is shit and wrong on their part religiously as well as socially 😤🤔

Had to click save on this video and watch later, but now that i have i lost my "First" status. Ibz this has been a crazy year for me in my journey for self discovery, and I'm grateful to have a role model like you. I stopped being in denial about the cause of my problems and that helped me effectively search for the tools to work around them, no matter how much disapproval i got from the people around me. I needed support in real life that i do not have, but i will no longer wait to be saved and i will fight for my goal.

Suck it out during the third year and kill it, I can relate to a lot of what you said in terms of people talking about you and friends from the year before leaving etc and that was me in collage. In retrospect being in uni now and look back - linking to what you said it was like I was a stone being chipped at, and by the end of A2 I was completely different to how’s I was two years before - I’ve definitely changed and for the better. I have two really close friends that I can trust with my life and it not even about the amount of friends you have it’s the ones you really trust. you have legit been through so much its been crazy to watch the last few years, Ive just finished a levels and I already am so different mentally so I cant even imagine how you're feeling. I can relate to the poverty side of things but I'm lucky enough to know where I can stay so it hurts to know that such a genuine person like you has so much on their shoulders at such a young age. Just know that once you get that damn degree you'll be going PLACESSSSS and we all know gossip is a form of jealousy, take it as a compliment because they obviously non stop think of you and the places you're ALREADY going. Aw Ibz, I'm really sorry to hear you've had a difficult year. It can be hard to admit when you have a large following that you've been struggling with something and it's definitely admirable to have the courage to speak about it. Sometimes people say things out of pure jealousy, and you're right it really isn't fair to make someone else feel uncomfortable when they are just being themselves. As for the professors etc, they probably are simply unable to accept the changing and adapting modern society, and are threatened by you. Focus on the people who want what is best for you. While it is a degree, it is again still three years of your life, maybe one of them will be a better year. And of course remind yourself why you are there. You still have so much left to offer. The people who encourage you all the way, they are the ones worth keeping. Good luck for your final year. xx
