The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam is one of Africa's biggest infrastructure projects. But Egypt worries the Ethiopia's prope might come at its own expense. Negotiations over the dam's operations have dragged on for years, with neighboring Sudan caught in the feud, and both Egypt and Ethiopia hinting at possible military action over the project. Attempts to reach a final, comprehensive deal have ended in deadlock, with many key questions still open. So why is it so hard to settle the dispute over the Nile?Subscribe: ru-vid.com...

74 billion cubic meter !!! This is what this dam is tended to block , not just 16 ?! That's the main issue , 74 billion are enough to destroy Sudan and 75% of Egypt 's land if the dam collapses , and if not it will be a continuous threat to both countries . Ethiopia has 900 billion meters of water 💦 raining each year . Ethiopia has many other dams inside it's land but this one is on the borders with Sudan and not safe. From these facts we conclude it's a declaration of war on both Egypt and Sudan .

Do you remember when Egypt was denying that they are part of Africa? They thought they were better than other African nations. Ethiopia is the heart of true African countries. Most of the African countries back Ethiopia and not Egypt. Egypt looked down on Ethiopia for generations. They never even said a simple thank you for the water and soil that has been flowing from the highlands of Ethiopia and built their country and wealth. Egypt knows how poor Ethiopians are, and people walk for hours and days to get water. The majority of Ethiopians don't even have electricity access. They never offered any help to Ethiopians while they were enriching the country and the people. And now Egypt looking for war if Ethiopia controls its own water in its own land. And all Ethiopia is asking to share the water equally with even more population than Egypt. Pls, tell me this is not crazy.

It is crazy indeed!! Egypt has one and only one choice, to settle an agreement with no hegemony. They need to learn to respect once sovereignty. They are not worried about the decrease of water at all but the status quo. Dam is already filling and Egypt won't go to a war at all otherwise it will be a massive bankruptcy that it cannot afford. They had been to a war with Ethiopia in the past few times and lost all the time. They are ruthless the fact they tried to destabilize Ethiopia by meddling in its infernal affaire by supporting extreme tribalis to cause tribal conflict few times. I dont waggle war at all. But trust me as an Ethiopian, I am ready to die fighting Egypt if war is inevitable!!

From the beginning, decades ago, Egypt was an evil obstacle so that Ethiopians would not be able to implement ideas that they had about the Nile river(Abay). Egypt came in between the peaceful Ethiopians and lit a fire as to create a great deal of misunderstanding and separation, moreover, Egypt went to many countries and cried about things that Ethiopia would have never done. In that process, Egypt was able to divert Ethiopians attention for a significant amount of time. The problem is Egypt yet looks at Ethiopia as the bad guy ,but all we are saying is let us use the river that originates from our country and help the mothers that carry firewood to sell and raise their children, help the people that cook by wood and have inhaled a large amount of carbon monoxide that is a danger to their health and that also causes sight problems, help the children that study with candlelight so on. This is just a pinch of problems mentioned, there are so much more to be solved by the construction of the dam. How did Egypt lose humanity? In the 21st century why think about war? Currently, Egypt is worried about what would happen if a drought came and it is worried that Ethiopia is not going to share its water. Of-course we are going to do what has to be done to help our neighbor Egypt. I don't think there should be a worry of this kind. As human beings, helping each other to survive should be our priority, isn't it? But if it was the other way around, believe me, Egypt would have made Ethiopians pay for a drop of Nile water a long time ago. Even though Egypt is still working to disintegrate us Ethiopians and make us powerless, guess what Egypt what doesn't break us makes us stronger.

Ethiopia is 100% right. Every country has a legal mandate to deal with whatever is in its borders and Egypt has been taking advantage of the river since time immemorial , moreover no one is talking about the Aswan high dam in Egypt, but suddenly as Ethiopia tries to utilize its resources for the country's betterment , here is Egypt and her complaints . As a Kenyan, a fellow African , I stand with our brothers in Ethiopia. 🙏

No more British welfare for Egypt by benefiting off of Sub-Saharan resources. Also, if Ethiopia creates opportunities for its own people, people don't have to leave and be mistreated while working in other GCC countries.
@esraazakaria1270
@esraazakaria1270 2 года назад
@@ThatLady365 Egypt produces 50 gigawatts, meaning 50 thousand megawatts of electricity, compared to 6000 megawatts that Ethiopia produces from the dam, so this is not something that Egypt worries about. Because of the sedimentation of silt behind the dam over time, so production decreases with time, so it is necessary to search for other sources of electricity, and this is what Egypt has done in terms of wind energy, solar energy or nuclear energy. In fact, Egypt does not wish evil to anyone, but it causes thirst and loss of land In a country that suffers mainly from water poverty, I will not stand idly by. While Ethiopia has more than 900 billion cubic meters of water, Egypt owns 55 billion cubic meters of water secondary.

Egypt's historical right is a colonial right. It's a shame they're even mentioning it like its something to be proud of. Anything colonial is void in this time. Even their names and statues are being wiped of the planet one by one all over the world. Yet Egypt wants to invoke it like it's their pride and joy. Ethiopia on the other hand gave both Egypt and Sudan the chance to be a partner and fund the dam, which would have really given them much leverage in the discussions and what not and yet they've declined it thinking Ethiopia won't be able to build it alone. Now Ethiopia made it a reality without the help of any one but their own money. Seeing this Egypt and the whole world could not believe what they've just witnessed. Egypt needs to deal with a little discomfort while Ethiopia fills it up since Ethiopia have been paying the price for not utilizing it's own resource for ages. But Egypt expects Ethiopia to make the sacrifice so that Egyptian lifestyle won't feel the heat, which is preposterous and unacceptable at the minimum. Soon Ethiopia is going to be developing much faster and build up its army like no other. What are they going to do then? Time and rivers shall flow and pass but all these vain threats and injustices will remain part of history and it's only natural for Ethiopia to visit it back with force when the time is right. Egypt should have swallowed their pomps and pride for the past 10 years and deal with it amicably, but instead chose bare arrogance and ill intentions. Now it's just too late to gain Ethiopias trust and once you lose the trust of an Ethiopian its permanent. Only time shall truly tell of what's to come but I really feel like Egypt's going to be forced to fold in a major way. All the Nile basin countries will soon realize,prosper and utilize the Nile river and claim their sovereignty over their own resources. Egypt's really not thinking it out deeply if you ask me. Them going to the U.S and U.N has already lost them many points in the African arena, which will only make things harder for them in the near future since these are African issues. But Egypt still operates in a colonial mentality and chose to run to the the white man for help when they have never asked anyone else's input when it comes to their own issues. Which by itself is a major weakness not only for Egypt but Africa in general. Just my two scents🙂

I even got the feeling they viewed themselves as better than Africans. So in all honesty you guys should support what's beneficial to country's future and it's citizens. Having said that, when it comes to the people of Sudan they are some of the most humble, hospitable people on 🌎. I loved it there. Egypt seeking negotiations and help through the U.N and the U.S is 100% a smart political move. After all, if Egypt does strike the dam the so-called African arena won't be the one posing huge sanctions on Egypt but the U.S and United nations. Therefore, having good relations with the U.S and a strong argument to present it to U.N and Security council would give Egypt the green light to destroy the dam.
