I really hate the reality of academia. teaching excellence is not rewarded, papers for the sake of papers are. it's just sad. no academia, no institution could exist without its students, and too often they and their tuition is de-prioritised. the idea that Dr Webster can't get a professionship from his educational standard is insane.
Your excellent teaching style has helped me and other medical students in my class back in Australia which will in turn help our future patients! Thanks Sam
I aspire to become a teacher like you. I'm so glad I found ur channel. It has helped me soooo much so far. I have my 1st professional med exam in 13 days, and i just want to say thank you. It's very rare to find teachers who actually 'teach', like you.
I think it IS very important to feel value in what you're doing. For me it was always a question of priorities. What do I want and what do I want more than anything else? Sometimes it's what I need more and this one can be tricky bcs true needs aren't always aligned with wants. At least not at first. But when I realize what is the top priority for me (not anybody else, loved ones included at this first stage), then everything starts to arrange around it simply and clearly. I totally agree with the comment abt insanity of idea that really wonderful Dr. Webster can't get a professorship from his educational standard, it's sad and frustrating. One of those things I didn't enjoy learning abt the world, but had to, since it's a quite common thing in many areas, not only educational one. But sometimes we have what we have and the sooner that fact takes its place as some sort of a dogma in my mind, the sooner I'm free to choose among existing options with a light soul shrugging shoulders.) Sometimes it's not even a conflict, sometimes I find out that it's not what I want, but what I'm supposed to want.) I think it's important to keep an eye on your inner world and always keep in sight what brings you harmony, since other people may see [things I value a lot] differently and that shoudn't be a cause for a shift in priorities. I always try not to betray myself first and then decide what can be done to improve any kind of a situation. Thank you VERY much for your videos, mr.Webster🏆 Best anatomy (and life, sometimes😉) Teacher I've ever seen.
I watched one of your videos, I loved. It seems that you are fantastic and I want to learn not just to pass my exams, but really understand and you are such a great teacher. I am going to watch your videos that I will study my book and then the test. Thank you, great new instructor of mine here in Brazil (Bahia)
I think you’re doing a fantastic job, Sam. RU-vid videos are a powerful teaching tool. One thing I think would enhance your videos is to give a little of the bigger picture of anatomy with practical demonstrations on real people eg patient is a guy aged 45 years old, works long hours in a desk based office, runs at weekends, drives everywhere, when he gets back home he plays with his kids & slumps in front of the telly. Look at his body shape & his breathing patterns. What’s going on here? What’s stopping his mobility & why? What’s going on in his world eg stress? What’s the ethnicity of the person in front of you & what things are likely to occur with that? How can we instantaneously improve the situation & what are the consequences for doing nothing about our physical, mental & emotional health? Statistics help with this eg hamstring tears have a 50% reoccurrence rate, hip replacement ops have to be done every 10 years, 75% of those entering A&E for a heart attack complained of stuck shoulders. Education should have a practical application is what I’m saying as in the real world you may not have an x ray machine or be a mind reader but you can see someone with a C shaped spine & know what’s happening & give pointers as to what to do about it before it’s too late.
I am very glad you care. I have benefitted from your expertise and these videos. I appreicate that you share your expertise on the web and it is free.. Because you do such a good job and you are committed to it I believe your students benefit by studying in one of the best anatomy labs and best teaching experiences in the world! So yeah, we should all strive to do a good job!
