I converted 10 yrs ago. I’m honest in saying it’s not been an easy road. I had to shed my old self and thoughts about my previous denomination. Being Catholic is not a denomination, it is the church. So much beauty. The fullness is a true saying. Receiving the sacraments made me complete

God bless u, im jus now seeing the truth, i grew up a protestant, then became an atheist because of protestantism, bc i saw all the confusion with all religion's, but I never even bother to study Catholicism, I just figured it was false because I was always taught that it was false. But now that I came back to the faith, I believed in Protestantism, but I didn't commit myself to a church, because I still saw the confusion, i jus wanted to be like the 1st Christians, so I studied my butt off, but once i saw it that apostolic succession was true, oh it was so hard for me to believe that the RCC was the 1st true church, & i almost became a eastern orthodox Christian, i believed in their arguments, & dogmas, but I told myself I must study Catholicism too just to make sure, so I humbled myself, and I just pray to God, & let the spirit guide me, so I know what you went through, and God bless you, I can't wait to join the family. 🙏🏼💯😇

@Milo Mask You: Catholics add to their teachings that's not from Jesus Christ. Me: That's your doing not Catholics because you adhere to Bible alone yet you have teachings that cannot be found in the Bible like sola scriptura, faith alone, osas, the Eucharist is symbolic, no church hierarchy, one-man-church etc. The Catholic teachings may not all be found explicitly in the Bible but we don't believe in Bible alone unlike you so you are showing here your hypocrisy.

Go to a Catholic Church in your area, talk to the Priest there, then enroll in an RCIA class (Right of Christian Initiation for Adults). You will be amazed. So So much false understanding and teaching in other churches, mostly unintentional because that's what they were taught. I also grew up protestant and just finished RCIA and happy to hear the truth for the first time in my life.

@@marietav7342 Marietta, Jesus does not lie and what He promises, He fulfills. Let us first look at: MATTHEW 16:15-19 15. He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16. Simon Peter said in reply, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” 17. Jesus said to him in reply, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. 18. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. 19. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” In these passages you see Jesus renaming only Simon, no one else, to the new name of Peter, which in ancient koine Greek means Rock; a name never before used in the Jewish world, telling him that he will become the head of His Church, giving him the keys to the kingdom of heaven, a position of authority, telling him whatever he binds on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatever he looses here on earth shall be loosed in heaven and the gates of hell WILL NOT PREVAIL against His Church. Furthermore, Jesus wants total unity of his Church. JOHN 17:21-23 21. so that they MAY ALL BE ONE, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me. 22. And I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may BE ONE, as WE ARE ONE, 23. I in them and you in me, that they may be brought to PERFECTION AS ONE, that the world may know that you sent me, and that you loved them even as you loved me. A clear message that there can be no other Church, except the one founded by Christ, who commands it to be led by his chosen leadership with Peter as the head of the other Apostles who, after their death, would be replaced by authorized successors through the method of placing hands on the heads of the chosen ones in Acts. It is very telling how in the Old Covenant it's shown how the key of the Davidic Kingdom is given to a chosen successor: ▪︎ISAIAH 22:20-22 20. On that day I will summon my servant Eliakim, son of Hilkiah; 21. I will clothe him with your robe, gird him with your sash, CONFER ON HIM YOUR AUTHORITY. He shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah. 22. I will place THE KEY of the House of David on his shoulder; what he opens, no one will shut, what he shuts, no one will open. The first Christians knew the position of Prime Minister implied having power and authority. (Genesis 39, 4). All Apostles received the power to bind and loose (Matthew 18, 18). ONLY PETER RECEIVED THE KEYS. Later, Acts 1:15-26 describes the first Apostolic Succession when Matthias was chosen to take Judas’ place. Verse 26 is especially important. It says, “and he was counted with the 11 Apostles". In other words, Matthias was now equal to the rest of the Apostles, enjoying the same abilities and same powers that Jesus bestowed upon the original Apostles even though he was never one of the originals. Did the Apostles make the right decision in chosing successors? YES! We see it in Matthew 28:16-20 where Jesus proclaims: “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and MAKE DISCIPLES of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” Our Lord clearly promises the constant presence of the Holy Spirit, to guide all future successors in His one true Church to the correct decision, as Scripture teaches: ▪︎JOHN 16:13 13. When the SPIRIT of TRUTH comes, He WILL GUIDE YOU INTO ALL THE TRUTH; for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. That is why St. Paul declares: 1TIMOTHY 3:15 15. But if I should be delayed, you should know how to behave in the household of God, which is THE CHURCH of the living God, the pillar and foundation of truth. In conclusion, there is only one Church with Christ's authority, the one which maintains a continuous Apostolic Succession to the Apostle Peter, as Bishop of Rome and head of the entire universal Church throughout the centuries. May God bless your discernment.

@@marietav7342 Speaking of hypocrisy - you say “you have teachings that cannot be found in the Bible like…” yet you yourself cannot show in the bible where the teaching is of the books of the bible. It was the church that decided for you these books. 🤷🏽‍♂ Now what church was it? If that church is no longer around, then what good is the text from which it came? If the church is around which one is it? Before you answer that there was a canon of scripture by the end of the 1st century, an answer that SOME non-Catholics give, please be prepared to answer the following hard historical questions- 1) why was ALL of the early church fathers list of NT books not in agreement through the 4th century in their writings? 2) not only were they not in agreement but why was these list of would-be “inspired” books GROWING into the hundreds of other books? 3) if there was a canon what was the purpose of the (3) 4th century councils of Hippo, Rome, and Carthage if not for the purpose of the NT canon? Peace!!!

What a skewed take, “separated brethern” “split off” reformations purpose was not to “split off” it was to reform the existing church back to holy standard. This is why even in my own study it’s difficult to even hear your side because there is so much pride even found back in Council of Trent with creating this “us vs them” dichotomy and failing to admit any fault. Obviously Luther and the reformers had actual valid complaints against the church dealing with corruption because the church in response to the reformation actually got rid of things like sale of indulgences.
@KSTrekker
@KSTrekker Год назад
@@ricoparadiso - at least Catholics refer to Protestants as our separated brethren, because we believe they are saved. Not the case with Protestant’s view of Catholics; they believe we are damned. How do I know this? I was Southern Baptist for 40 years before my conversion, so excuse me if my viewpoint is “skewed” but I’ve seen both sides. If the Protestants were “reformers” why did they eliminate a key tenant of the Christian faith - the Eucharist?

The Bible is the Book of the Catholic Church. However, it is incomplete as a “record” of the early Church. It was never intended to be any “final authority” over Tradition. Scripture, in fact, bears witness to Tradition because it is “tradition” in written form. 2 Thessalonians 2: 15. 😊

In Jesus never mentioned abortion, rape, homosexuality, and many other things as well. But they are still against God. Fun fact: every Christian Church unanimously believed that all contraception was evil until 1931. That's right, 1931, almost 2,000 years, all Christians believed it was a grave evil from the devil. It was only the anglicans that made an exception for couples in marriage, but it didn't take the rest of the world long to figure out that if you could postpone babies in marriage then you could do the same thing out of marriage and that has led to the sexual implosion and explosion of immorality that we have today. One by one all of the Protestant churches started compromising, but the Catholic church has upheld the Christian teaching from the apostles that has always been believed. It's even talked about among the earliest christians. If you do want to space out pregnancies for serious reasons, that's what Natural Family Planning is. God's way, not the world's. Hope that helps.

When one of the person he interviewed told him regarding confessing our sins to others, this Jew said that "oh no not with those Catholic doctrines." this made me realize that many people still reject and have no idea that the Catholic Church is the original church established by Christ even though they accepted Jesus as their God and Savior. I salute you first for good, well reasearched content and second for guts. It takes some courage to stand up for Catholicism which has a horrible PR, some of it well desereved and of some Catholic hierachry own creation, like mishandling some child abuse scandals. Still whatever scandal (not downplaying it - I hope every criminal causing this awful crime, regardless of his/her religion or lack of it is caught and receives severe sentence - it is not the fault of the Catholic doctrine or anything like it. These are actions of people - from theological perspective - sinners. Actually in Matthew 18 Jesus himself refers to anyone who would hurt child that it would be better for that person to essentially commit suicide. I think that's the strongest condemnation by Jesus of anything ever, or at least I cannot recall anything else that strong. Back on the subject I always like to point out what "Catholic" as a word means. It is essentially for everybody, gathering all.

This very special devotion ... differs essentially from the adoration which is given to the incarnate Word and equally to the Father and the Holy Spirit, and greatly fosters this adoration."516 The liturgical feasts dedicated to the Mother of God and Marian prayer, such as the rosary, an "epitome of the whole Gospel," express this devotion to the Virgin Mary.517 515. The religious sense of the Christian people has always found expression in various forms of piety surrounding the Church's sacramental life, such as the veneration of relics, visits to sanctuaries, pilgrimages, processions, the stations of the cross, religious dances, the rosary, medals,180 etc. 180. In the East, the litany called the Akathistos and the Paraclesis remained closer to the choral office in the Byzantine churches, while the Armenian, Coptic, and Syriac traditions preferred popular hymns and songs to the Mother of God. But in the Ave Maria, the theotokia, the hymns of St. Ephrem or St. Gregory of Narek, the tradition of prayer is basically the same. Chapter 3: The Life of Prayer (2697 - 2758) Article 1: Expressions of Prayer (2700 - 2724) II. MEDITATION ⇡ 2678 516 (all)2708 Meditation engages thought, imagination, emotion, and desire. This mobilization of faculties is necessary in order to deepen our convictions of faith, prompt the conversion of our heart, and strengthen our will to follow Christ. Christian prayer tries above all to meditate on the mysteries of Christ, as in lectio divina or the rosary. This form of prayerful reflection is of great value, but Christian prayer should go further: to the knowledge of the love of the Lord Jesus, to union with him.

@@michaelhinojos8488 Have you ever listened to the words of the most used Marian prayer of all, the Hail Mary? *** "Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee." *** This is nothing more than the salutation of Gabriel in Luke 1:28. *** "Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb (Jesus)." *** That is Elizabeth's greeting to Mary in Lk 1:42. ***"Holy Mary, mother of GOD." *** She is a saint which makes her holy, and she is the Mother of GOD, because Elizabeth calls her the 'Mother of Our Lord' in Lk 1:43. Also if you take Jn 1:1 "...and the Word was GOD', and add it to Jn 1:14, "...and the Word was made flesh", GOD was made flesh, and who was His mother? Mary! *** "Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen." *** This is nothing more than petitioning Mary to PRAY FOR US, just like in the Bible verses I presented. Do we 'pray to' Mary, or are we only petitioning her to pray for us? Rom 15:30, "...help me by your prayers to GOD for me." Are not Col 1:9, "This is why we have been praying for you unceasingly...", 1Thes 3:10, "Night and day we pray more and more...", and 2Thes 1:11, "To this end we pray always for you...", repetitious? Is this one of those so called 'Bible Conflicts' you hear about from time to time? No, not at all. The answer is that the Bible refers to two types of prayer repetition '(V)ain', in the manner of heathens, and '(U)seful', NOT in the manner of heathens. The Rosary is not vain repetition. Here is a list of some in each category that you can check in your Bible. Just a question that I've been curious about for a while. When the New Testament uses the symbolic number 12, such as in Revelation to represent the twelve Apostles and/or the twelve tribes of Israel, exactly which twelve does it refer to? We have Matthias, who was chosen by the eleven to replace Judas Iscariot and also St. Paul, chosen by Christ after the Resurrection, referred to as the Apostle to the Gentiles. So, 13 Apostles chosen by Jesus and one Apostle chosen by the 11. Yet, we say that the number 12 in the New Testament is symbolic of twelve Apostles.

@@astutik8909 Not sure which translation you used for Micah 5:2. Taken literally and out of context with the rest of the chapter, your rendering of Micah 5:2 could just as well be speaking against gambling in the Temple. Taken in context of verse 1 from the KJV, we see the chapter is speaking about this: "Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand." So, according to your case that Micah 5:2 applies to the Apostles choosing Matthias, it would follow that the Apostles were "devis(ing) iniquity, and work(ing) evil upon their beds..." in choosing Matthias. If that were the case, I don't see how you can make any kind of reasonable argument that the remaining 11 Apostles had any kind of Authority to establish any churches.

Guess what, the Romans had no saying in that, but most anti Catholics seem to despise this fact... Peter could have gone to anywhere else in the world, but he went to Rome, God gave him the keys to the Church, gave him authority and God decided that he Peter was going to be the Bishop of Rome.Why God chose Rome? I would appreciate if you can do a video on why Orthodox has apostolic succession but not Anglicans and Lutherans and why their consecration of the Eucharist is useless - ie no real presence of Jesus despite their belief in the real presence (even if its not Transsubstantiation).
@dave_ecclectic
@dave_ecclectic Год назад
Anglicans is a longer story and worth a vid. Lutherans not really. They don't believe in Holy Orders. (Luther rejected holy orders. ) Their Bishops do not have an unbroken line of laying on of hands, officially or not officially. A Priest cannot ordain a Bishop. As neither denomination has Apostolic succession they also do not have valid Bishops and thus valid Priests. Without a priest or bishop there is no consecrated Eucharist. Apostolic succession is much like a relay race. If I don't hand on the Baton then you can't keep running.
@jeremiahong248
@jeremiahong248 Год назад
@@dave_ecclectic I heard that the Catholic argument against Anglicans claim on possessing apostolic succession is because the Anglicans rejected Holy Orders and also some of them were not "properly ordained" ie ordained without the apostolic line so its invalid. Eventually all the lines of ordination are mixed up and got confused. My own personal belief is that the original bunch of Anglican bishops were excommunicated. This means they have lost the power to ordain and all ordination of priests need to be validated by Rome (?). However one priest told me even after excommunication, a priest is still a priest under canon law so the ordination by excommunicated bishops are still valid according to canon law. I am not sure if this is really the case. If canon law is indeed such then I think its a pretty ridiculous law. When parents break ties from their wayward children, the latter will not have claims to the family name and estate anymore even though genetically they are still related. The same should apply to excommunicated clergy and hence their ordination of any priests subsequently is invalid and illicit.
@39knights
@39knights Год назад
@@jeremiahong248 I think I heard a talk by Fr. Ripperger, or it might have been Michael Davies. What happened in the Anglican sect is they changed the intention and form of Holy Orders based on a Swiss 'liturgist' they brought in to reform their liturgy. Once a Bishop is ordained it is not possible to revoke his Apostleship or ability to ordain others which is why the Greek Orthodox and Marcel Lefebvre are able to continue to ordain priests and bishops. As long as they continue to use the proper/valid Form and Matter their sacraments remain valid though they may be illicit (not approved by Rome). For awhile shortly after the Anglican split there was efforts to try and re-unite the sect with Rome as a separate rite (like Ukrainian Catholics, etc.) but when the intention and form were changed, Rome determined their sacraments became invalid as did their supposed ordinations. The Anglican sect hasn't had a valid ordination, or sacrament (except baptism) since their last valid Bishop died centuries ago.

@@39knights Thanks for sharing ! Yes I heard that once a Bishop is ordained, his Apostleship and ability to ordain others is still being retained despite the excommunication. This is in my own belief, a most ridiculous canon law. There is no proof to support the cannon law but alas this is what it is at the moment. In my culture, once a person is excommunicated from the family, he or she is no more "family", not entitled to the family inheritance, estate or trust or kinship. Treated as an outcast.

@@jeremiahong248 I'm no expert on this but I think that the authority to ordain a Bishop comes from the Patriarch you serve under. So a Greek Orthodox doesn't have the authority to ordain a Russian Orthodox... or even a Greek Orthodox if the Patriarch did not give permission. In the Patriarchate order of things the Church in England fell under the Western Church. The Bishop of Rome. This is one reason I think the Orthodox claim of "first among equals" is bunk. They have a hierarchy of Bishops. Why would the entire Church not have one? (The Patriarchs?) Any way. In 1896 Pope Leo XIII declared Anglican Orders invalid with his Bull Apostolicae Curae. That alone should be enough. But prior to this and after this every consideration has gone against the Anglican Church. Look up the sacraments believed by Anglicans and is seems pretty clear to me that they don't have Holy Orders as they don't believe in them! Also look at Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion XXXVI. Of Consecration of Bishops and Ministers. All of them are worth a gander but 36 seems to say that as long as the method is followed it is correct. They don't give the method though, but they do say it isn't "supernatural" I suppose this means 'without the Holy Spirit'? A priest is always a priest is less a law and more what Jesus or maybe better the Holy Spirit has determined. Its not simply an authority given which can then be taken from them. It is more of a change that can not be unchanged.

The twelve apostles (including the Apostle Peter) were labeled Nazarenes (different labels) and different ministries, they preached the Gospel of the Kingdom and the bad news that the Jews had killed their messiah (different message because it is a different audience). Every apostle was chosen by the Holy Spirit, what is being attempted here is a power grab. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things (sins) come from within, and defile the man.] [WHY WE NEED A SAVIOR: Rom. 3:10-28 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understands, there is none that seeks after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that does good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes. Now we know that what things so ever the law says, it says to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his (God's) sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ to all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believes in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. Joh. 3:16 For God so loved the world (us), that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. @Milo Mask Alam mo, you will misinterpret the Word of God if you interpret It per verse. The Bible must be interpreted in Its entirety and must be interpreted according to the interpretation of the Church through Its leaders and we must abide by the CC interpretation so that we will not be misled even if the interpretation of the Church or CC seems wrong to Its members' personal understanding because there are bible passages which appear to be contradicting other verses like Jesus said call no man father on earth except the Father in heaven (Matthew 23:9) but Stephen called Abraham father (Acts 7:2) because Jesus word in Matthew 23:9 is not literal but you protestants interpret Matthew 23:9 literally. Another example in Matthew 6:1, Jesus advised people not to perform good works before men but in Matthew 5:16, He exhorted people to allow their good works to be seen to glorify the Father. Or in John 14:28 Jesus said His Father is greater than Him but in John 10:30, Jesus said He and His Father are One etc etc etc.
@marietav7342
@marietav7342 Год назад
@Milo Mask There are bible passages which have double or multiple meanings. This is why Jesus gave the sole authority to interpet the Scriptures to the Church or the leaders of the CC because there would be chaoses and divisions if everyone is entitled to interpret the Bible personally that is why the Protestant denomination keeps mutiplying because members interpret the Bible personally and when their personal interpretation differs from their pastor's, they will leave their denomination and found their own protestant church where they are now the leaders and sole interpreters of Scriptures. If their members find again discrepancies in their interpretation against the interpretation of their pastors, they also will leave their church and found their own church. But others who left did not found their own church but just decided to have no any affliation with other denominations and decided to be alone in their own church. *_Protestant - Jesus, Jesus, Jesus_* *_Catholic - Catholic, Catholic, Jesus, Mary, etc.. etc..._* This is an interesting analogy. Have you ever been to a Catholic Mass? The reason I ask is because I had to go to a Bible church last weekend and from what I saw it was the exact opposite. The service last an hour and 40 minutes and the pastors covered a total of 4 verses of scripture during that time. When I say 4 verses I mean 4 verses. He didn't read the surrounding verses to help the people see the context of the verses He simple read the 4 verses and went on a 60 minute explanation of how He believed each of the verses applied to what he wanted to teach them. Now when I go to a Catholic Church the Mass lasts about an hour and the typical Catholic Mass references 321 chapters of the Bible and covers about 344 verses of scripture including an entire Old Testament reading, a Psalms, an Epistle reading and a Gospel reading. All of which are related to each other. So basically from my point of view not seeing why the Bible Church, that only covers 4 verses of scripture in their service and is about 90 minutes of fill in opinion of what the pastor believes, considers them selves a "Bible only church" and why that same church thinks the Catholic Church (that covers 344 verses in their Mass and only about 10 minutes of the Priests homily) is unBiblical? Do you see what is confusing to me? Maybe you can help point out what I'm missing here. God Bless

@@wesleysimelane3423 If you read your Bible, you’ll note that repeating things is not proscribed; Jesus Himself repeats a prayer times in Gethsemane and commends it in other places. The prohibition is against “vain repetitions” - that’s what the pagans used to do; prattle on and on with empty phrases to appease their gods so that they wouldn’t get mad at them. There’s nothing vain about praying to the true God or meditating on the life of Jesus by praying the rosary! We don’t say it to make sure an angry pagan god who needs praise isn’t mad at us.
@wesleysimelane3423
@wesleysimelane3423 Год назад
@@bigfootapologetics It’s interesting that we tend to define vain by the word repetition instead of the other way around. By doing this we misunderstand what Jesus was saying. The point He was conveying was that the repetition was vain, or empty. Like in your "church", you have many mechanical prayers written for you by other men, the biggest one being the hail mary. Pagans or heathens do not have faith in God, so their prayers are empty or void of faith. It doesn’t matter how long or short you pray; if it’s empty, it’s vain. Repeating such emptiness is pointless. The “vain repetition” Jesus was referring to was faithless prayers.

@@CatholicTruthOfficial Thanks for your reply. In John 16 when Jesus makes the promise that the Spirit will "guide you into all truth", the promise is to every believer who is individually indwelt by the Spirit. This works itself out through the sanctification process with the Spirit continually working through our conscience. I understand that modern Catholics view justification and sanctification as essentially coincident and both accomplished fully at baptism - please correct me where I'm in error on this. Even if we take Jesus' promise in John 16 as a promise directed to the Church rather than to believers, it still wouldn't guarantee that the Church could never fall into error. The promise would be that the Spirit would always be working to guide the Church out of error into truth. There's no reason to think that this wouldn't be a process that takes time, and not some mechanism where error was about to enter the Church, but the Spirit miraculously intervened at every moment to immediately prevent the smallest error. Indeed history demonstrates that error often does enter the Church for a time. Athanasius Contra Mundum, for example. The Church woke up one day and found itself in grave error.
