Ladies. I’m an RN, take soluble fiber (psyllium husk powder). 1tsp mixed with 8oz of water followed by another 8oz of water. Important: Take it 2 hours after eating breakfast and 2 hours before having lunch or any food or medication. It helps to lower cholesterol tremendously. Most people with high cholesterol don’t take soluble fiber and think that eating vegetables is enough (veggies have another type of fiber which is insoluble fiber). Eat oats every single morning for breakfast (it has soluble fiber). Drink plenty of water so you don’t get constipated. Don’t forget to exercise and eat carbs with moderation and not a ton at once (just a regular portion at breakfast, lunch and dinner). Trust me on this one!

Hi what brand do you recommend? How many times a day should I be taking it? What happens if I don’t drink a lot of water? Side effects? Thank you in advance.

Thank you for this video! So great to have a doctor, especially one who is female, explain my sudden jump in cholesterol after menopause. It’s been so frustrating having people imply that it’s my fault. I am very active and eat a healthy plant forward diet. I know that I still have to do something about this, but just hearing positive reassurance has made all the difference in my attitude.

Thank you so much for this video. You just saved my sanity. My bloods show high cholesterol. Been struggling with bad menopause symptoms for last 3 years. Went to see the nurse last night & I said I'm pretty sure the issues with my health are menopause related ( high BP & Cholesterol) I'm in a constant state of anxiety since hormones changed & my cognitive function is so bad. I abruptly got told Cholesterol has nothing to do with menopause. I felt so confused as I had researched the studies on-line but she totally dismissed it all. She said it's because of what I'm eating so basically my fault. I already made changes in my diet due to symptoms & advice on-line & I don't smoke or drink alcohol. I will continue to watch my diet & try to increase exercise but thank you for the information & advice. It's so hard to be heard during the menopause. Lots of things get totally dismissed & you feel as though you are being treated like you imagine it all. 3 years of sleep deprivation alone takes its toll on my body 😒. So thankful for doctors like you who understand how difficult it is 🙂🙏

I have been on HRT for 2 weeks. My night sweats have stopped, my skin looks different, i feel like a human being again! I am noticing a few side effects, and I am going to call your office about that, but overall the HRT has been such a positive experience! I can't wait to check my blood work after 90 days. I feel like me again, thanks to you Doc!

I have a new doctor and he is hesitant about continuing my HRT patch. I had a complete hysterectomy at age 40 and was put on HRT and it's been great! I am now 59 and this doctor wants to stop the treatment. I told him absolutely no! My lipid panels are normal, no high blood pressure, non smoker, average weight. He thinks its dangerous, why?

Thank you, thank you, thank you. You are the first doctor in the USA 🇺🇸 I’ve heard mention the vasodilatador factor while considering HT. I don’t want to “fib” about night sweats and considering I’m beyond the ten year range of post-menopause it may not provide the same benefits others may achieve by starting HT at the first year of menopause. Big props for mentioning plant dominant eating. Today, April 18, 2022 the Boston Marathon winners hail from 🇰🇪 Kenya. Look at their national food staples -plant based and starch dominant. Please consider a deep dive on WFPB diet and how this may affect our hormones.

Niw that there's not even minute estrogen i can only imagine what's happening with the cholesterol. I NEVER connected the two. HRT is my next move.

Yes, please do a video on HBP, and Diabetes. I am 22 years surgical menopause and have been on HRT the entire time. Every woman in my family has had a hysterotomy by the age of 40 and none have used HRT, they all have HBP and/or Diabetes and I am really trying to avoid those. I am currently not on any meds other than HRT, I have good BP and Cholesterol, I am worried that the Diabetes may be genetic.

100% my experience! Was 42 when I was told I suddenly had high cholesterol even tho I’m actually underweight (healthy) workout with weights everyday and eat a Mediterranean type diet. Ridiculous that my dr didn’t tell me this would be due to lower estrogen levels. Now I’m 45 and my numbers stay high no matter what I do. Will this be corrected with HRT if I’m already in a really healthy lifestyle?

@@heatherhirschMD Dr! Update after almost a year on HRT. I have lost 20 lbs, have my energy back and am feeling great with complete absence of my previous symptoms. I went vegetarian also and my cholesterol levels have bottomed out! My dr when I saw her after a year couldn’t believe the change that I had been through. She said it’s working! Keep doing what your doing! Clean bill of health again! HRT, intermittent fasting and a vegetarian diet has put me back to what I was in my early 30’s!

It's been over a year since I started menopause and thanks to your informative videos, and others, I learned so much and have been on hrt since. I have felt so much better since I started the bioidentical estrogen and progesterone in August (I was on some other hrt [not bio-identical] from February through August but my joints hurt so much). I recently got bloodwork done to check my estrogen and testosterone levels. My estrogen seems fine for me but I have no testosterone. I knew something was up because I don't have the same energy, I have no muscle tone, and worse, I feel like I'm losing strength. The doctor told me I could get it prescribed but I needed to consider the side effects; facial hair, weight gain, and I don't remember what else. My question is, should I get testosterone? Are there alternatives?

@@heatherhirschMD 🙏🏽 Thank you. My first ever (at age 56) I was examined by an experienced gynecologist. When I mentioned my interest in HT she shook her head and quietly mentioned breast cancer. I really was disappointed by her lack of knowledge -especially when she failed to provide the pros and possible cons on HT. Informed consent implies informed patient AND doctor. I’m really concerned that many in the medical profession are not keeping up with professional development!

@@laura-yu3kh This is so true and exactly what's happening. The flawed Women's Health Initiative from 20 years ago stole the headlines with a negative narrative and many providers gave a blanket no to hormone therapy and still do. Heather and in-the-know colleagues are trying to change this but it's a very slow process. At this point I feel like I know more than my provider but it's nice that she's open to my teaching her what I've learned. lol

HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! Hello Dr. Hirsch I'm 41 years old my Dr looked at my labs recently and told me, which I considered bad news in my eyes that I'm going through early menopause my Dr put me on estrogen and progesterone therapy because I have not gotten a period since November of 2021, have hot flashes like crazy especially at night, mood swing, but I'm still discharge so no dryness ,still sexually active and no it does not hurt when I have sex my FSH is 65.02% but the rest of my labs are healthy which is awesome yes I exercise and try to eat right but I never thought that I would be going through this so early I guess I'm that 1% and yes I have my full uterus and have 3 beautiful children thank God for that but I have some questions and maybe some topics that you can discuss on your channel that are women going through this just like me. 1.)When I have intercourse with my husband he releases his semen don't know another away to say it sorry but after having intercourse I was going to sleep but I couldn't because I had the worst hot flashes at night and couldn't go to bed so my question is can you get sever hot flashes after having intercourse and does that mean does the semen have anything to do with that reaction? 2.) When will the medication therapy kick in for my hot flashes I've been on it for about 4 days now I can see that estrogen is working because I'm not moody and have a pep in my step which is great I feel a little more like myself but now its my hot flashes that are irritating me my meds are 0.05mg estrogen and 5.0mg progesterone the reason why so low is because in the past my Dr put me on birth control (progesterone) not estrogen and I had the worst reaction like supper sleepy and couldn't function like drive my car in the day so of course that made me gain weight because I had no motivation to work out so I stopped taking the birth control pills? So hopefully you can help me out because you did answer a lot of my questions already but been looking at alot of your videos and can't find anything regarding this matter HELP PLEASE HELP 🙏 sorry for the long novel I know you are super busy with your love one and patients ❤ Thanks 😊
