I agree with Chris that nothing should be censored regardless of how offensive or wrong it is. 100% of the time. Except Brendan Schaub's comedy specials.
As a teenager, I feel my mental health is much better reading content on platforms such as Substack instead of scrolling down on social media. Social media honestly sucks the happiness out of me. Substack brings out the raw product that the author has to say and I honestly admire it, the rawness of a writing.
Thank you Chris Best for this self-publishing platform. I've just started my Substack writing. I hope it will be a place where I can authentically express my thoughts❣️
Yeah, all I still use is Facebook messenger. I don't even have the normal Facebook app. I'll answer messages on Instagram, but my actual social media presence is zero now
Deleted Facebook like 5 years ago and my life is slowly and surely aligning with my purpose and intentions, like when I was a kid. Smart phones shouldn’t exist lol
In order to save the economy, everyone must go out and buy a $1500 folding phone and sign up for 10 streaming services. Get a $6 coffee every morning in your new ev, throw away all your perfectly good hd tv’s and buy bigger 8k tv’s… that’s really what these companies think
No, they don't actually think that lol they want YOU to think that. Everything these days is a plot to suck more money out of the middle class until we are all lower class. Their goal has been to destroy the middle class for decades. Kennedy discovered this fact and was killed weeks later for wanting to expose it
Substack is an absolute beacon for actual journalism. Once the Intercept became a propaganda rag, I was grateful to have somewhere to turn where the mafia-uniparty-tech-cronyopoly hadn't yet crappped the bed.
Absolutely! It infuriates me how intelligent journalists like Jeremy Scahill and Naomi Klein are still with and defend _The Intercept._ I sort of am not surprised about Lee Feng because he allowed himself to be cucked by one of his colleagues. Ryan Grim OTOH is always a proud company man so no surprise there. When Glenn Greenwald and Laura Poitras departed, surely it's time to say the experiment is now over.
@@darthmercur3067 If you don't think RU-vid, Twitter, Facebook, and Reddit are censoring journalists you're either uninformed or just a complete idiot. Basically every mainstream news source has turned into a propaganda machine for the Democratic party at this point as well, and some people just don't have the mental capacity to recognize what's happened I guess.
I don't have a Twitter account and feel vindicated after witnessing what a toxic form of verbal diahorea it is. My Facebook experience was enough for me.
This is brilliant. Authors can use the platform to sell their ideas directly without outside influence. No more editors interjecting what they think will sell & influencing literary works, just pure creation from the artist. It doesn't have to be limited to newsletters, but also storytelling, manga, etc.... Authors can build an audience by making the first few releases free, then charge as their audience grows. The money goes directly to the author, rather than 5% of actual earnings. If the author wants an editor or help, *they* can hire them - rather than the other way around. So many stories have been ruined by editors trying to stick with perceived trends; imagine story tellers being unencumbered to tell their stories as they see fit. Even new authors, who most publishers wouldn't even give a chance. This creation is phenomenal.
Are we getting closer to the day when Curtis Yarvin is on Rogan? I can think of no greater joy than watching Joe navigate an interview with the King of Um.
Marshall McLuhan predicted Amazon, the Internet, and Twitter, all in the 60s before computers. He actually coined the term “Global Village”, with the caveat: “This is not going to be a nice place!”, but more like an inescapable “Gladys Kravits from the TV sitcom “Bewitched”.
The conversation in this podcast truly feels like two genuine people, each wanting to learn how to be and help others be the best version of themselves.
I don't use Twitter, I just never liked the set-up. If you don't like what someone is saying don't listen to them, censorship is dangerous because who gets to decide what is the right and wrong thing to say?
Ive been trading with the help of Barney & Friends and seen good results already. Its very important in this day and age to have a safe investment strategy blablabla
Cant believe you didnt bring up Operation Starfish Prime when talking on the ozone. Was it hairspray cfc's? Or was it massive nuclear explosions they tested on the outermost atmosphere?
Admittedly, I don’t really understand Substack. Anyone can join, post etc. so it’s pretty much doomed to become like any dumpster fire social media platform over some interval of time. If the goal is to curate “quality content,” the process is going to be called “censorship” at some point. If the argument is that the content is curated via “community,” the filtering process will be called “cancelled” by others. I think the reality needs to be established that in any platform there are trade offs between users and the company, maybe the transparency of what those trade offs are is more important.
Great points. Perhaps citing non-confidential sources would add credibility to articles? Sources are a big component that differentiates journalism and opinion editorials, which is what most television news became. More of a Wikipedia style credibility? I’m just spitballing here.
QUALITY pod, not someone who is generally in the public's eyes, someone who can relate to almost all of us 💯I envy his belief in what he's trying to do
I'm an Independent Latino. Thank you Rogan good episode!! Hey, I get me information including DailyMail, is were I get most of my information because Lackadaisical fails to be Transparent. As you know it Rogan as you know it.
Love your work as ever Joe. Can you try to get Lewis Hamilton on? The way he has overcome adversity and developed his mental strength would be an epic podcast.
I was banned from twitter last year for stating an objective fact that is not politically correct and whilst I was really annoyed at the time it was actually a blessing to not be involved in that cesspit anymore.
@@sir0nion He/Joe the OP can't comment on the reason he was banned, as the comment would get automatically deleted by the algorithm or the YT police. They're all the same on all the platforms, pushing their thing, and suffocating the open minded, free thinkers.
Boring is good. Is a normal sentiment. Don’t go looking for entertainment in social media. Is best to have a face to face talk with an actual human being. But as it turns out, this is easier….!!! 😂 Still, don’t let social media control you, be free and feel bored. It’s ok.
He is so right about twitter's most successful tweets. I scroll and sometimes I think that I should respond because the tweet is so outrageous splintering but I control my impulses. I wish comedians would rule twitter again
The problem with the “holocaust denier” thing is that since the time serious revisionists have done research they’ve been smeared with such a title, simply for having opposing views on the subject. Example, the revisionists who brought forward the evidence that the facility shown in Dachau was incapable of gassing although the film “Nazi Concentration” depicts it. Which was used in Nuremberg. Now if you go there today there’s a sign that says “Gas chamber, disguised as a shower room. Never used as a gas chamber” People who bring that forward are called such. There are some subjects people don’t want open debate on.
Another one is "flat earther". I have been called a flat earthen. I thought it was a joke! I thought the implication was "well you are so behind the times I bet you still think this is the 1400s and you still believe the earth is flat!". I didn't even realize till not that long ago that there is actually a Flat Earth Society and all that shit lol. But yeah, when someone calls someone else a "Flat Eather" it is a lot like accusing someone of being a "Holocaust Denier". It's just a way of dismissing someone's point of view and intellect and hopefully get others to do the same.
Tim Dillon had a hilarious bit about Substack people pitching him to move there from Patreon because they wanted to attract comedians. Short story: wasn't worth it.
Well of course, specially then, but it's getting bigger, Tim was just being a conservative gay person, Ben probably told him not to, heard Ben is who really calls the shots 🤔
Tim Dillon and Yannis Pappas have a great clip on RU-vid of them talking about meeting with Substack. Substack doesn't seem like the sharpest tools in the shed.
According to Andrew Tate (Top G) We live in the matrix.. We only live physically once so we shouldn’t be afraid to do anything bro, i smoke weed on my RU-vid channel and i ate Mcdonald’s inside Walmart, screw anyones opinion ever , we in the matrix for real cuzzo
Yep, and I lose my keys all the time, sitting in the bathroom at 6am, railing dirty 30s ( fentynal) I keep telling myself this is the last one, because I'm fucking my life up, again, right now and the cracks are really starting to appear, it's just a matter of time before everything comes apart at the seams, I know it, I'm watching it happen, but I just can't get it under control. Sorry to rant a little under your comment, just really going thru it right now and although I'm surrounded by people who love me, in my mind, I have no one..
@@lindapestridge3073 I'm off the fent tho and prescribed Suboxone, but the damn depression is literally killing my slowly. I've been trying to hold things together and have had some success, but nothing compared to the set backs, I haven't eaten in 2 days, simply no appetite, I'm starting to get the insomnia and I'm hallucinating at times, I swear I think I'm just sane enough to know just how crazy I am, it's torture... Thank you for asking how I was doing tho, I'll take every little bit of positive human connection I can get on the Internet, because actual real life person to person contact is simply outta the question. I can't be around people right now, my poor old father likely doesn't have much time left and I can't even bring myself to go see the man, I love him dearly, I'm gonna be crushed when I lose him, if I don't go before he does, but I'm locked up inside my mind right now and can't find my way out. I can't see my reflection in the mirror, there's just nothing left of me.
There's been over 100 episodes of this show removed because Spotify didn't want the controversy. Literally you can't find a single reddit link to an obscure mp3 download site for a lot of them. Some of those were, uhm..? 40 or so, instantly removed in December 2020 he started. I'd be pissed, but, pay $5 a month for Joe to move to Substack if it got me the episodes back.
The bro was very nerves about those last questions, he should have said something to the affect that "We tend to find terrible people saying disgusting things don't really have the demand of people willing to pay them actual money to spout their fringe ideas - They tend to be better served on platforms that promote people saying outrageous things to game a algorithm, like traditional social media platforms.
even if they have terrible ideas let them explain themselves and then people can see through it let them destroy themselves if you think they are wrong by silencing your opponents you essentially admit they have a valid arguement that you cannot afford to be heard
Just finished this full episode, not as good of an interview as I was hoping it would be. I like substack and the concept of it and Chris seems like a genuine guy but the conversation didn't feel like it went as deep as I was expecting.
@ 1:51 They tried to cancel Joe rogan but we would not let that happen we live in one of the most sensitive me too eras ever Somebody's always trying to find something to get offended about!
I like Substack, I enjoy it. It is not just memes, there are articles with really info and reasoning, I had only one platform to hear what was going on today, it would probably be Substack
@ 1:06 I completely agree with u regardless if people want to say it's crying that ish is destroying us little-by-little When it wasn't live breathe eat, sleep it it wasn't as bad now its 24/7 365 an then some!
if they are all about free speech, how come they only allow embedding of youtube and vimeo videos, which are already Left Censored? For instance, you can't embed Bitchute or Ourtube or Rumble or Odysee etc? ok if it's intended for writing only, why allow RU-vid and Vimeo? I'm suspicious. I think they got a grant from Google which is RU-vid, which is Android etc.
One of the things I dislike about Twitter the most, aside from its general toxicity, is that pornography is rampant on that platform. It's really frustrating for those of us who want to avoid porn and even more frustrating because Twitter is the easiest platform to build a following on (from my experience anyway). So I want to leave Twitter, but at the same time... it's hard to leave because of the following I've built. Maybe someday I'll pull the trigger and delete it, idk.
I have not been on social media since 2014. And when I was I hated it. I advise my fellow man to steer clear of that mind sewer and instead, read thick difficult books.
I feel like in the future I media or platform with the ideas and intentions this guy has could very well turn into the new and improved Twitter or even RU-vid...
