Really funny to me that the key for Miraidon winning was to stop building it with strategy in mind, and just build it for raw DPS, with a team to support that. Incredible. No thoughts, only murder.
I call that strat from MOBA Genre games the “Four Protects 1 Strategy” In this case, Three supports protect their only source of Hyper Carry Damage. Once Miraidon is down, the team falls apart

I love how Miraidon's success is Unga Bunga more. Power up what it was good at and just hold down the gas pedal to do more damage, and let its passengers cover its flaws.
To steal a line from another pokemon youtuber, Miraidon is "Gloriously inelegant." "It switches in and is like..... Ok, I'm gonna click the button now.". Amazing stuff.

It’s like Kyogre’s son, back with the strategy of doing a fuck ton of damage with one type and not having to deal with that types’ resistances because it does 200%+ to most targets

As a fan of old Wolfe and new I must say how mind blowing it is to see how much the channel has changed and improved and yet still kept that irreplaceable world champ difference
100 base power, electric terrain boosted, hadron engine boosted, choice specs, boosted again when super effective, 135 base sp. atk, STAB Tera electric electro drift is just a little bit broken imo…

@@Chibuga well yeah, that set needs all those moves, Overheat is very one dimensional move, it's not worth the slot of Discharge that allows counterplay to redirection.
@@luigimanzelli3786 the thing is I almost never see them use discharge. It is always volt switch or draco meteor. They can definitely replace discharge. I think it's more important to be able to remove the one Pokémon who is cutting half your damage output then damage across the board that would just get cut off by Rillaboom again. Lol

This tournament was so fun to watch, and Miraidon was a huge part of that (The other part was having Wolfey as a commentator; you are really a natural on camera, and you brought so much energy and humor that none of the other commentators could match, apart from maybe Aaron when you were with him)
Can we appreciate the choice of putting Magnolia Éclair from Guilty Gear in the Miraidon montage at the end? After all, Miraidon rides the lightning just like Ky Kiske

Okay, that one is the best thumbnail of them all. Anyone asking why it's changing, it's cause it's likely using an automated system trying out which thumbnail gets the most clicks. It's unfortunate it needs to happen, but dude's gotta do what he can to get views, sponsors help but dude's gotta eat and this is his job.
What an inspiring underdog story of Miraidon climbing its way up from the bottom with nothing but its incredible base stats, excellent movepool, and god tier ability.

Prankster Thundorus with the Electric Terrain move is slept on. It can shut down Rillaboom grass terrain and immediately set up Miraidon again with terrain. You don't have to worry about switching out as much since you will have terrain control and keep offensive pressure.
Well given how its a special attacker and incineroar doesnt resist its moves, miraidon shouldnt be too worried. Especially since most incineroars use an item rendered usless by electric terrain.
It's funny to think that they saw that the power wasn't up to snuff, so instead of trying to make it more versatile, they just double down on the damage to turn the nuke into the death star

It doesn't though. People thought it did and it was doing badly in the very first tournaments but it is one of the strongest in VGC competitions since. It seems like the big 3 are the Calyrex riders and Miraidon, with Terapagos as a pretty close 4th and Zamazenta winning a regional too. Koraidon and Kyogre still seem to top cut fairly often but they're kinda on the periphery and that's really about it, aside from a few decent Zacian teams and a random Groudon every now and again.
seems like they overthought and tried to cover its weaknesses. When all you need to do is to put on some specs and do over 50% damage to a pokemon that double-resists electric.
Miraidon's volt switch from tera fairy to tera electric was shockingly good. Miraidon definitely kicked into overdrive during regulation g. I guess Miraidon's victims will be discharged from the pokemon center in the far future if you catch my Electro drift. (I'm sorry I had to).
Hey, Wolfe. Just wanna say that I really love your content and the editing you do. I just love watching either your tournament battles or information about a Pokémon’s history in doubles competitive. Watching your stuff has made me enjoy doubles a lot more and play it a lot more on stuff like Pokémon Showdown. Keep up the World Champ Content 👍
I’ve been using a specs miraidon team in Smogon Ubers and it’s actually absurd how much damage it does. There’s basically no competing terrain so as long as you predict correctly you can kill basically anything. My favorite move is to Draco on the switch to an opposing ground type and do 60% minimum.
