I wont lie, i prefer hdmi, but my backwards compatible PS3's HDMI port is dead, so using a 4K tv with no component slots, i paid £20 on amazon and bought a component to HDMI converter im actually glad i did 😅
The cecha00 and 01 consoles are laggy via HDMI when playing PS1 and PS2 games due to the built in deinterlacer. So for these consoles, that are fully backwards compatible, it is much better to use component cables
Idk if component is better than HDMI but the PS3 is pretty versatile with all the video outputs it supports. I’m only saying that because my PS3’s hdmi port stopped functioning so I have to use the AV port with component cables. Looks pretty similar picture wise but a tad darker and I can’t adjust to whether I want on RGB limited or full. I don’t get any interference even tho it’s analog maybe cause I’m using official Sony cables.
If I want to play Tekken 3 on the PS3, I have to use the component cables to output 480i or else the picture is all hacked up with bad de-interlacing or something.
Great video! I always wondered what the difference in quality was between those outputs. Do you know where in Denmark you could acquire a widescreen professional monitor? Maybe you have some connections 😅 I have a Sony BVM D20F1E myself.
@@jonasskjtt5542 oh sorry I thought you wrote that you had a D24. Yeah I would say the PS3 works best with a 16:9 monitor. The D24 works fantastic with it!
@@tranceenergy3121 I can see that 🤌 it's just impossible to find one at a reasonable price where I'm from, but why am I complaining I have a fantastic BVM 😎
@@omgitsbats the adapter doesn’t add any lag. Not noticeable at least. My comparison is not on a flat screen but on CRT. And to the naked eye there isn’t actually that big of a difference between HDMI and component on PS3 when using a CRT. Of course it depends on your CRT as well. But I also include the other benefits with component such as allowing you to output 480i.
@@goticogordo yeah the prices for some CRTs are off the roof nowadays. Can you imagine a lot of movie studios and broadcast studios threw their stuff away just a few years ago.
