I totally understand the need to specialize in the workplace but I love seeing the variety in front of the camera. They're all great, Anthony is just slightly greater ;)
We need a channel rebrand, like "Tech talk with Anthony" cheesy but on point. In all honesty, i wanna see his name either in the channel or Video Title!
A more realistic upgrade scenario be like: - You want to upgrade the GPU - You realize the new one will get bottlenecked by the CPU - Then you realize the mobo is also getting replaced cuz of the socket - And also you need new memory because the DDR standard has updated - Might just as well buy a new case now
I went on a similar rabbit hole when I wanted to make my PC quiet. After two months of research, I decided I will just make next PC quiet and make the current one a server for monitoring and NAS ;)
@@rattlehead999 That's not remotely true. AMD had slower FPUs than Intel. Also, I think you're forgetting that AMD had been making x86 chips for generations by then. They were not just copies. Hell, AMD had 486 designs that clocked way better than anything Intel had.
@@samiraperi467 I remember my AMD 100MHz system I upgraded to from my DX2/66. My Cyrix 586 chip didn't like the motherboard I put it into and blew 3 caps on powering on. Good times.
Each cpu? Your drunk or something? 1151 came out in 2015 and got replaced just now in 2020 Am4 came out in 2017. Your argument is invalide just like amd graphic drivers. Wait until 2022 and say bye bye to your dear am4 if its not gone before that
@@antoniohagopian213 In a b450 you could put 4 gens of chips (1st, 2nd, 3rd and later 4th), while for intel the best you can get is 2 gens, I think he wwanted to say chipset
Anthony has that way of explaining things that just makes me want to sit quietly and listen forever. Give this man his own ‘explainer’ channel and let him go in-depth on the nerd stuff!
They still need to design a new motherboard and retool factories to manufacture the new product. If many types of sockets are in the market and new ones are coming relatively frequently, it could be tedious and expensive for manufacturers to keep up.
Not really, people are simply buying a cheaper motherboard more often rather than a more expensive one less often. Motherboard producers have a much lower margin from those cheap ones. So its not worht for them to swap sockets so often.
its real simple Intel and AMD sell chips to the motherboard producers if you don't buy a Intel or AMD board you will always en for ever pay both the manufacture of the motherboard and Intell or AMD for their perspective chip-sets on those motherboards. you buy a new intel or amd cpu then you buy a matching motherboard that has the intel or amd chips on it so they win win win.
exact opposite dude. They would earn more money by keeping the same socket and Mobo design as they dont have to do R and D as well as produce a new process for it. This is why Apple for instance uses its designs for 3 or more iterations before they change them as it is costly to start over.
It's so nice to see someone smart like Anthony on the front lines making stream of information about cpu sockets so enterteining and full of passion that you just wanna listen again just to check if you got everything.
Natural selection has to happen some way since modern medicine and technology saves the intellectually challenged. Tide Pods and tombstoning can only do so much.
Well, when they don't change much about their architecture it's normal to stay on the same socket. Same with intel. Intel's been on the 1151 socket since 2014, because since 2015 and skylake they haven't touched their architecture. And realistically there is no reason for Sandy, Haswell and Ivy bridge NOT to be on the same socket, but oh well intel is intel. And let's not start laying it down on chipsets.
I remember the AM2+/AM3/AM3+ times when a lot of (mid-range and lower) boards would run with newer CPUs but didn't officially support them. Problems ranged from terribly running systems and complains from CPU not performing as they should, to in some cases VRMs just breaking in no time and CPUs only running when half the cores where disabled. Terrible times those were
I've had a friend like anthony. The way he looks and talk just like him. I've never seen him gets angry. Always smile and laugh. He indeed is very nice person but unfortunately he's died because of heart attack couple months ago. I did really missed him.
This guys computer engineering knowledge and clear, effective communication style is the best on youtube when it comes to practical computer technology for the consumer. Thank you for kicking ass at your job. Subbed.
Anthony, you're a baller. You might not be my favorite LTT personality, but you bring the goods in every video you host. Easy to listen to, and either from the writing or your own sources you seem knowledgeable. GGs all around
The problem with B450/X470 is also some MBOs have 16MB and some 32MB for BIOS. And some were even advertised as "future CPU compatible" (looking at you MSI)
Socket 775 lasted for at least 5 years (even though the chipsets changed): Pentium 4/Celeron, Pentium D, Core2Duo (plus a refresh), Core2Quad (plus a refresh). Socket 775 was used on boards that supported DDR1- DDR3, Pentium 4 to Core2Quad different chipsets and architectures . The socket was mechanically compatible, but you couldn't run a Core 2 Quad on a first gen LGA 775 boards due to incompatible chipsets.
@Antonio Hagopian , “in service 2 years”? Didn’t realise March 2017 was only two years ago, when I did mathematics at school it put it over 3 years by my calculations.
Firmware/microcode can reassign some pins, but it's generally an exception because most pins on MOBO are physically wired to power delivery or a specific bus.
Just wanted to say that I support you Emily. As a non trans person I probably dont understand it, but I understand that I dont understand, and in the end its YOUR life. If it makes you truely happy, I cant do anything but support you for it. Also youre still an awesome tech guru in my eyes. Best of luck!
Emily 😂 He can pretend he's a woman all he wants, but everyone can see it's a guy. You don't get to change and decide a new race or gender, it's what you're born as.
@@PhilipMarcYT Nobody asked for your opinion Philip. Its his life and his body. Even if you raise your eyebrow at transgenderism, nobody is hurting you. You people always care about what other people do even though youre the ones that keep screaching "FREEDOM" all the time. Stop acting like a 12 year old and put that low IQ republican outlook where the sun dont shine. Let people do what they want. I thought you guys were so proud of being libertarians, yet you cant handle it when someone else makes a decision you dont understand?
