Those that complain loudest about tax cuts for the rich get oddly silent when it is pointed out those same tax cuts apply to everyone who is paying taxes. The only people who don't benefit from those tax cuts are those who don't pay taxes at all.

The trouble is, we don't investigate history, a gift, to see how things worked in the past. There is no need to" reinvent the wheel" Sin of pride.

There is the Laffer curve that illustrates the correlation between tax rates and revenue. One illustration which Art Laffer provides is the effect of disencentivizing the productive in order to subsidize the unproductive that leads to lower productivity. In Russia the tax rate is 13% on all personal income tax brackets with the exception of non citizens making over 5 million rubles annually. This rate is around 35%. Once they are citizens it's 13% as everyone else. The US should adopt a flat rate as so.

I've tried explaining this to lefty friends and family more times than I can count. I might as well be bashing my head into the Great Wall of China in an effort to bring the whole thing down. Studies demonstrate tac collection can not exceed around 30% regardless of policy. People are motivated to do what is prudent to reduce their losses. So they use shelters, offshore income, move, reduce work, etc.

Anyone who understands an Engine understands how this works. An engine is most efficient with a specific mixture of Fuel and Air. Increase the Fuel (Rich Blend) and the engine will eventually flood and die Increase the Air (Lean Blend) and the engine will eventually lose power and falter out as well. An Economy works the same way regarding taxes.

Say you get a raise of $20k. Now you make $80k / yr. How does your debt increase? By spending $90k / yr. You are now $10k in debt. Or just print the $10k, inflate the money supply a little (i.e inflation) It would require $111 to purchase what $100 bought the previous year.. but, nobody would really do that. We elect representatives to the House to do that for us. That is the status quo. Going against that, like the ~20 GOP members did last year electing the new Speaker of the House. Those "extremists" that were threatening "OurDemocracy" .
