Jb, you have lost your mind... This is the first time I believe you are sleeping behind the wheel. It's the cost of these trucks manufacturers need to go back to 2018 prices. The average person can NO longer afford... The higher trim are customer orders... Ram, Chevy, and GMC can't give them away as well. The party is coming to an end... I'm surprised you can't see that..

Totally, also something l'm seeing is the price of super clean, not screwed with, 7.3 Power strokes increasing in price, and being snapped up within days of being listed. And I'm talking about 150,000 miles and less variants, going for 27,000 to 39,000. I recently quit bidding on a F-250, 4 door, 89,000 miles, 7.3 manual transmission. It ended going for $41,000 🤯

@JeffinTD
@JeffinTD 7 месяцев назад
True. I wouldn’t buy the 80k truck if the 100k truck was what I wanted. To me it seems prices are generally inflating faster than most wages or retirement accounts. A lot of folks had the disposable income to absorb some of the reduced buying power/real wealth, but that margin might be exhausted for many, leading to reduced discretionary spending. Also it seems to me luxury diesel pickups are often bought by older people who are established financially and want a comfy rv puller, or by younger people who are foolish enough to take on crippling debt. For an old boomer the era when say 32k would get you a loaded diesel truck doesn’t seem that long ago, and they just aren’t willing to pay 3x that. For the younger people who can’t write the check, rising interest rates, plus the realization that the pickup payment is going to torpedo what kind of house they might qualify for…

Ford can keep their 20k over MSRP trucks. It was a feeding frenzy and Ford just turned the dealers loose and let them do whatever they felt like doing. 1:38 100K at 7,8,9% interest means you’re well over $1,000 a month for a truck that won’t be worth 10 in ten years. It’s just a real good way to get super upside down in a vehicle. I’d love to get a newer truck over instead of patching my 02 4 runner before every winter but not at these insane interest rates over something I own outright and only drive basically December through April ( mustang for the rest of the year at 3% interest).

The only feature I wish I had was keyless entry/push button start, but that wasn't worth the, what, 8 grand in multiple trim levels? Plus the Lariats come with the console shifter which sucks, column shifter all the way. Katzkin leather is cheaper and higher quality than Lariat leather, the "lane assist" and adaptive cruise control "features" are annoying af to me and so on. Not only do they cost more, and are annoying, but then there's more shit to break and cost money later, too. It's pretty easy to modify MOST things so they are exactly how you want them, cheaper, better quality, and so on. $1,200 a month is okay the problem is its $1,200 a month or 72 or 84 months.... people used to finance cars and trucks for 3 years.. so you'd take it hard for 36 months and then have a fully paid off low milage truck that was still worth some decent money..

Got it 4 months later, MSRP was 45,900 and some change. The expense is the ultra trim levels, the Powerstroke engine, the 4WD, and crew/supercab options. Back in the 70s VERY few folks wanted trucks.....the 80s saw a few more purchased....the 90s a bit more....then it seems like in the early 2000s the "big" vehicle push really took off. I think, if you're paying $80,000+ for a Lariat then spend the extra money and get a platinum. Sadly the people that used to buy the Lariats have stopped because they're too expensive now and those that were already paying $80,000 for a truck before these massive prices hikes just accepted it and were able to afford the higher trim levels and go with that. I also think in the Lariats and below you're getting far less standard equipment than you did just a few years ago yet you're paying much more for the truck.

That XL needs to be closer to $55,000, not 70K. Ford made way too many XLT's, Lariats etc and not enough XL's and XL "STX" trims... dealer lots might have 50+ trucks sitting but very few will be XL's so you can't get a deal. I am sure these fully loaded trucks are nice to own but Ford needs to wake up and realize even 50K is at the top of a lot of peoples budgets. Ford needs to focus on value not luxury which would include making fewer diesel trucks and more of the affordable gas options... nobody actually needs a diesel engine in an F250 with singles on the rear axle.

I don’t hardly see any new trucks and cars on the streets of late. People are growing smart and shutting it down. People are scared about everything such as the economy, banks, jobs, war, the list goes on. People if they have it are holding on to their money which is the smart move during this time. My paid off 2018 F-150 with 47,000 miles is doing just fine an I expect it to service my truck needs for many years to come.

If you owned a small construction company or any company where you’re hauling something that truck is a write off and that’s why they are so expensive. If you lose the tax write off, people would not be able to buy those trucks.

@@gregoire8376 The fuel millage on a diesel is negated by the cost of diesel... its not like a diesel gets 35 MPG and the gas gets 10.. the gas motor obviously burns more but gas is way cheaper than diesel... of course it used to be the other way around because diesel is actually easier to produce than gas, but we live in a clown world.

I was able to get a 2024 Chevy 3500 LT with the new interior, power rear window, Z71 off road package, power folding mirrors, multi-flex tailgate, painted door handles, HD surround, center console, etc..for just over $70k. Similar priced Ford was an XL and it didn’t even have a spray in bed liner much less a 13 inch display. You get way more for the money with a Chevy LT.

@@billysprague6219Ford still uses the CP4. If that goes out, it’s an $18k repair. My Chevy 2024 3500 with independent front suspension rides like a Cadillac compared to a Ford. Now if it was a Lariet with the Tremor and Black appearance package, then maybe. But that would be a $93k truck vs my $73k Chevy. No way a Ford is worth $20k more.

I think the best deal right now overall is the XL 4x4 with the 6.8 gas , Off Road package , it comes with 3.73 or 4.10 locking axel and oversize off road tires. I speced one out in crew cab with 8ft bed it had a high payload and some other nice options for around 62k. There is a dealer in Iowa , Granger Ford that sells below suggested retail price on most ordered trucks. You can have that 6.8 V8 tuned and add headers and it will have more power than a stock Godzilla 7.3 gas motor. If you don't need carpeting and some other high-end options this is the way to go on a budget for a Superduty imo.

I got my ford 250 xl for around $67k ($80k with all the crap/tax they plastered on). Its the extra $15k-$20k of dealer prep etc that kills the sale. And you don't really need the stuff above the XL. Do you need retracting floor boards? Most of that junk is just a service call waiting to happen. Also don't buy any 2020-2021. Those are Covid trucks.
