I get why you're saying this but ZIM once stole children's organs and put them in him to be more "humany" and the organs usually didn't even get censored :'3 (in another instance, he kidnapped a kid and took his eyeballs out, but this wasn't as graphic)
That's because it wasn't cancelled because of that. Nick barely cared about the dark humour. It was almost exclusively cancelled because of how high its production costs were per episode

Rocko also worked for a sex hotline and Mrs. BigHead called him “Oh baby”. Rocko’s dog Spunky made whoopie with a broom in a closet. There was a rhino named Mr. Horny in Rocko. Heffer was jacked off by a milking machine. A jester in Ren & Stimpy took a cheese grater and grated the skin off of his elbow and they zoomed in on it The organs are nothing.
Yea.....I'm ngl this show really wasn't suited for kids. As you mentioned Zim literally disemboweled children and there was another episode when Zim kidnapped this boy and enucleated his eye balls. Invader Zim had actual torture and murder scenes, so it makes sense why it was canceled. Although as a child I didn't really understand what Zim was doing, so maybe that's the same for most kids who watched the show.
I still today rewatch it at times. Nickelodeon only canceled it because Invader Zim did not appeal to the target demographic of 2-11 years old. And a few kids came out crying after test watching Dark Harvest, to add more detail.
Actually, it was cancelled primarily due to lack of viewers. While yes there where concerns over its content, this factor according to the show writer himself likely played little to no part in the cancellation decision. While the show is popular now, back then it had a very small following, primarily due to its time placement (often just before school let out, and virtually never on weekends). The reruns found on nicktoons on the other hand where discontinued due to concerns over the mature content. Now i do believe it still runs occasionally around halloween, and sometimes in the winter, but the most controversial episodes have since been removed. Edit: for its initial cancellation high costs were also noted, as this team was one of the first to use 2D stylized 3D for certain animations, (for examples of this style, see futurama, Invader zims big water balloon episode and butt on venus episode, and a great music video called freak of the week by freak kitchen).
@@u2bozzi871 Thanks I appreciate it. I got about halfway through the comment, and thought: man why would I even type this, it just helps him in the algorithm, then I remembered that it's because A. This is one of my favorite series, and B. It's a youtube short, which makes very little money, and while it abuses the algorithm in order to gain a following, when the content is this poorly researched, it'll die fast. Also if ur at all, for some odd reason interested. I used to do streams on Mixer, under the name Oversplainenit, I hope to start back up on twitch, or youtube soon (maybe both), but life has been in the way, for awhile. I basically just talk about all the random fun facts, and non sense I know, while playing video games (nms, halo, titanfall, and occasionally random singleplayer titles). If you somehow find old vids of me (doubt u will I had just hit 400 something when mixer was murdered), I didn't talk too often till the end when I playing outsiders heavily. No offense to this dude, but he's gotta work on a bit more than surface level regurgitation take a solid hour following links before speaking about something, it's not realistically enough to be knowledgeable, but it's at least enough time to form a surface level understanding, rather than a misguided idea. Everyone including myself is guilty of it in typical conversation on occasion. Edit: see just now I have done the exact thing i was talking about, didn't even need an hour to see, that while his knowledge on things like invader Zim, and cartoon/animation in general is generalized, and basic his rap videos at least appear to be more well done, and kinda researched.
The real reason it was canceled along with other good shows is because SpongeBob came out right around that time and became super popular. Because it was so popular Nickelodeon wanted to give SpongeBob as much air time as possible so they used any reason to cancel shows. Invader zim: too dark, my life as a teenage robot: not popular enough, Danny phantom: scheduling issues, get the picture? All minor issues that Nickelodeon used to cancel fan favorite shows just to give their golden boy SpongeBob more air time so they make more money.
I think Fairy oddparents also Came out at that time Right? Which was just as popular as Spongebob at the Time, Both Spongebob and the Fairy oddparents killed a lot of those shows Due to them Being Perfect MoneyMakers For Nick
I don’t know why Nickelodeon thought Jhonen was the right guy for a kids show in the first place. Don’t get me wrong, great guy, amazing content, but he started out with a book about a man killing people. Violently. And hired him from a spinoff of said book about the neglected neighbor child. 🤨
My theory: It got cancelled after the episode Dark Harvest,which we all remember,Zim had to go to the Nurse's office but he thought he had to have human organs to pass. So he basically harvested the other school mates' organs. It got cancelled soon after that for it being too dark for children viewers. Or it could be other reasons but that's my theory.
Invader Zim has the type of humor that not only shocks you with creativity but good timing. Definitely adult innuendos but children wouldn’t understand it until about 12yrs or less
I heard it got canceled because Scott Dyleski, who was convicted of murder said his motivation for the crime was the episode dark harvest. He said he was fascinated by the episode and it led to him killing his neighbor. What I’ve heard about this is Nickelodeon DIDNT want a lawsuit from the victims family so they decided to cancel the entire show.
It’s because the animators went against Nickelodeon and kept sneaking in pictures of the infamous ‘Bloody Gir’ image secretly into frames in the show when Nickelodeon specifically said they couldn’t show a scary Gir covered in blood.

The show did have those moments where even though it didn’t show it there would always be a shadow of what was happening so you could assume what happened to the victim. (R.I.P Keith btw)
No actually it’s because of it’s views only being older people and not the target they were going for being 11-14 and the product of the show being expensive
No wonder why Invader Zim and Teenage Robot are getting the same treatment now. Since neither shows mets Nickelodeon requirements. I know the outcome of Teenage Robot is different than Zim. Zim was canceled due to projection and Teenage Robot was canceled due to lack of viewership
The fact that the show has a big cost is one thing. But I'm pretty sure that's the humour that confirmed the décision of the bosses to cancel the show (why spending so much money on a show that is pretty disturbing for kids to watch ?). I'm not really a fan of the serie because of the character (mostly Zim) yelling like mental deranged persons or even tantrumed kids. But I godda say that the machinery and the story is pretty solid and funny. But let's put some positivity in this cancellation. Unlike SpongeBob and other popular shows, invader Zim didn't become a brain-mushing cartoon full of empty storylines and very dumb characters (well... Dumber in that case). The name is not stained by today's entertainment industry and becomes a form of nostalgia for us. Yes, I sound like a weirdo, but I'm trying to take the positive in the situation.

THERE IS A OTHER REASON: it was also because one of the drawers who draw the styles of the cartoon made a little hidden Easter egg which is bloody GIR so technically there's two reasons why I got canceled🤭
After 9/11, every type of content was analyzed from a different perspective, so that played a role as well. If network execs had any common sense, they would have moved it to The N or MTV. Zim was popular among teens and we didn't care if something was controversial. If anything, it made us more interested. (I was in middle school while the show was still airing.)
I recently watched the whole tv show and mobie and i saw the organs episode and im like"how did they let this slide 😂" aside that kinda disliked the artstyle for the movie cus didnt keep that edgyness? But same time it wasnt a bad movie. I did notice lack of animation tho cus budget

I was wondering why the show got cancelled but the other day I was watching the episode where zim has the sell the chocolate bars, so he manipulated a family by putting these VR helmets on them and showing them a dystopian future that could happen if they did not by the candy and in that future this gross fat dude legit picks up a little girl and puts her in his pocket 😭
dark and edgy content is fine of kids as long as its shown as something to be concerned of and not glorified in my opinion. They should know the dark reality of the world before being shocked from it like i did.
