Friends, right at the end of the Easter season and in anticipation of Pentecost, we come to the great Feast of the Ascension of the Lord. We should do a theological reflection on this feast-how we should and shouldn’t understand the Ascension, and what it means for Christ’s work in the world-because it is key to understanding the dynamics of the Christian life.

I can't put into the words how instrumental you've been in the finding and formation of my faith. I've been in prison for 4 years and have one left to go. I'm fortunate enough to come home on passes and was baptized and confirmed by Father Bazzel on May 6th, 2023!! Glory to God. But the series "Catholicism" and John chapter 6 really lifted the vail for me. We are also fortunate enough to have access to the Word on Fire podcast at my work release. Thank you Bishop Barron for your dedication to the beauty of our faith through your amazing ability to present it with reason! This description of Jesus' Ascension & how it expands His presence w/us in finite time & earth, calls to my mind John the Baptist's saying, "Repent, for the kingdon of heven is at hand" (Matt. 3:2, NASB). Then Jesus was walking w/men; now He walks w/all believers, not constrained by earth/time limits, but inclusive/beyond. This feast is special for me because the church I attend is named for the Ascension. I think of it as an extension of the glory we celebrate on Easter Sunday. Christ rose to new life in a glorified body. Now, in His Ascension, His glorified body enters the Heavenly dimension, bringing with us, as Bishop Barron said, our humanity. In Heaven, His sacrifice enters an eternal dimension. And from there, the Holy Spirit comes to stir up in us the divine gifts. Thanks be to God for Bishop Barron who offers such great catechesis in this homily.

Amazing! What an amazing description of the mass, the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross and our union with heaven. @@teslashub6336 ' I have not only read the Letter to the Hebrews but I have studied it many times and it is very clear as written in Chapter 10 ;12 But when this one priest ( Christ ) had offered " FOR ALL TIME " A SINGLE SACRIFICE FOR SINS , HE SAT DOWN at the right hand of God Read also Hebrews 10;10 and chapter 9 ;25-28 where the phrase " ONCE AND FOR ALL " is repeatedly emphasized .The author to Hebrews never wrote the Calvary sacrifice transcends time and space in a heavenly temple. The supreme love of Christ is forever remembered but not forever offered . The one time sacrifice of Christ on the Cross of Calvary is not going on " all the time in a heavenly realm but eternally remembered in a timeless existence With all due respect to the good Bishop , I must say he is reading his own theory into the clear text of Hebrews with his own preconceived idea and had his mind made up wrongly on what the Author to the Hebrews actually wrote so clearly . We have been sanctified by the offering of Christ's body " Once for all " Heb 10;10

Every human being has a date with destiny: every human being must come to terms with the Lord's Passion. But to say as the good Bishop said that Christ is eternally being offered in the Heavenly temple is wrong biblically The Greek word for remembrance is " Anamnesis " which means taking an event from the past and celebrating the memory of that event in the present so we can never forget it as we need to be continually reminded the full extent of the love of Christ by dying on the cross of Calvary

Receiving the Eucharist into your heart unites your heart with Jesus’ Heart on the Cross and conforms your heart to His. This union grants many graces from God through Jesus in the Holy Spirit as we present ourselves to God through Jesus in the Holy Spirit in return. The good thing about Bishop Baron (my cousin is an archbishop btw) is that he reads and allows contrary religious and non religious views. He believes truth can stand on its merits..amen

Like a square expanding into a cube , or a circle into a sphere or a triangle into a pyramid as an analogy....to a man ascending into a spiritual realm. And you call that truth which is in no way based on science or logic !

Ascension = dimension (math, square to cube)…that was perfect…and it rhymes ( mnemonics). I took math classes, so now I will be able to remember Ascension (dimensions)… then the rest of the sermon fell right in place. Perfect sermon! ♥️✝️ Ascension…it’s a beautiful word now.
