Y’ALL DIDN’T TELL ME THIS WAS A HORROR MOVIE!! 😩😭 yoo What an amazing plot twist. Let me know a movie with a better plot twist in the comments. Obviously don't spoil it lol Thank you so much for watching🙌🏾❤
😢 Bruce Willis is dying. His family is surrounding him with love. He has been diagnosed with a rare type of dementia. Bruce Willis was one of my favorite actors. when I watched his families video announcing his diagnosis and filming each other, so lovingly, taking care of him, it gave me great peace to know he surrounded by those who truly love him.😢
Haha. I can’t take all the credit. I had someone tell me baby Forrest was here. But I’m sure I would’ve recognize him anyway. The Forrest Gump movie is still fresh in my mind
I saw this in the movies when it 1st came out. I was utterly shocked at the discovery that Malcolm was dead. The different reactions of the people in the theater were similar to yours. A lot of people cried because although Cole gets the help he needed, the movie is still a tragedy. There is so much loss. As a side note, I couldn't get over that the actor playing Vincent is Donnie Wahlberg, who is now in Blue Bloods. A great reaction to a great movie. Thanks.
haha - when you all were talking about baby Forrest Gump - I thought you meant Forrest Gump when he was a child with bad legs, not the son of TomHanks Forrest Gump
@@FrankFreezy_ The actor, Haley Joel Osment, is like a 30 year old man now and he's also well known for playing Sora, the main character, in the Kingdom Hearts games if you've ever played those!
Yep, when ever I come across someone who has never seen it and they ask "What is it about"? I just say "Watch it and don't let anyone tell you anything about it before hand". My friends have done the same for me with movies like "The Usual Suspects", Se7en" and "Fight Club".
I don't usually watch reactions to movies, just TV shows, but recently youtube has been recommending some sixth sense reaction and it's SO CRAZY to me that people don't know the plot twist. It was my dad's favorite movie, we had on a VHS, and I remember being SO FUCKING SCARED of that movie that I've never even watched whole until my 20's, but I've had always known the plot twist of the movie and always thought everyone knew. And I love that he didn't even guess that plot lol. I wish I didn't remember it when I rewatched as an adult bc it's soooo goood
I was around when this was in theaters, and it was a generally well respected unspoken rule that you didn't spoil this one. It was such a breath of fresh air to have such a powerful plot twist that most people gushed about the movie telling everyone they just had to see it.... But they didn't say more. I know there were probably plenty of exceptions. I usually don't get why most people have a problem with spoilers, when most movies are fairly predictable... but this movie is one that you just need to go into but knowing.
@@chlupl I remember too, all the people in line to see it again right after they saw it the first time, which made every showing packed or sold out, and we were like, "have you seen it already?" And they just nodded and said NOTHING. Such respect for the amazing storytelling.
I read somewhere that the director kept the full lines from each actor in the car scene at the end. The actress didn't know the answer "every day" and Haley Joel didn't know the question do their reactions were spontaneous. This whole movie is brilliant and this reaction was about as entertaining as the first time I saw it.
The teacher's stutter came back because he was shocked at Cole's outburst which hit him on a personal level. Stress can make a stutter come back no matter how much speech therapy you've had.
Makes me so happy that so many people have gone without having this movie spoiled. Truly one of the greatest twists in film. Haven’t felt this level of surprise watching a movie in a looooong time.
We watched it in the theaters when I was a kid. My sister asked me as we were leaving what the ending meant. It made me realize there was a subtly about the reveal.
@@FrankFreezy_ This movie actually started the whole plot twist trend! I think it came out in the late 90s early 2000s. And there were of course some movies with twist endings before then, especially Alfred Hitchcock movies. Which if you haven't seen any of those you really have to watch psycho or vertigo! Those are classics of American cinema! But there wasn't plot twists all the time it wasn't a common thing. But the sixth Sense got so popular because the twist was so good that it spawned so many copycats. That's why a lot of big name movies nowadays seem like they have half done twist. Because this movie like you said the clues were there the entire time! Everything was leading up to it so when you found out he was dead the whole time everything made sense. All of those tiny details that you noticed and commented on and then forgot about all came back around and everything made sense. That's how you do a well-done twist. It's unfortunately extremely uncommon to have a well-done plot twist. A lot of directors and writers just add a random ending
44:34 I just realized that she doesn't exhale cold air in that particular moment. Because Malcolm found peace and isn't angry. Man, pick something up even all these years later.
I'm glad this movie is now old enough that a generation has grown up not knowing the twist at the end! You got to experience it like we did when it came out. So happy for you!
Thank you. I'm happy about that as well. They've been so many people in the comments talking about how the twist was ruined for them and it makes me so angry that someone would ruin something like this for another person
I love that the moment we meet Cole he’s literally running away from a brand new ghost suddenly stalking him - he runs into a church (sanctuary) and the ghost just follows him right in and sits down to chat. When you rewatch Haley Joel Osmette’s performance is suddenly 10 times as good when you think about the layers he had to act (one for the audience that it’s just a doctor his mom’s making him see - and the deeper one that it’s a ghost). I feel like his first line in the church is when he made a choice to finally talk to one of these ghosts. It also adds weight to each time another person is in the room with him and Bruce and he is COMPLETELY silent. Oh and also when you stop and think about how illogical Willis’s scenes are he falls apart. Why did he meet this kid in random public places? Why was he at the hospital with the mom listening to the doctor and then tucking Cole in at night? It’s jarring once you see it - we are as in denial as Malcolm.
You said it perfectly. Personally I'm a fan of watching movies I love multiple times. I absolutely can't wait for my second and third watch of this one.
@@VonPatzy Not to mention they were going to have someone psychoanalyze Cole in the hospital when Malcolm was standing right there as a child psychologist.
This dude knows how to edit a reaction video. No excessive jump cuts, he let the scene unroll enough for us to see some reaction. He Selected all the scenes we would like to see. Plus he doesn't exaggerate his reactions. Top notch
I don't think there is a movie with a better plot twist. This is the king of 'em all. And not only did they leave breadcrumbs for us to follow, they left whole breadsticks! M. Night said he thought at first that people were going to catch on when Cole said "I see dead people" and the camera immediately goes to Malcolm. But, we were all fooled.
"they left whole breadsticks" lol that made me laugh for way harder than it was intended to. I bet it feels good for him to know that we were all fooled. And that line didn't give it away
It’s a testament to how good Bruce Willis was. He made the audience believe and buy into Malcolm’s guilt and anguish, so much that we all were empathizing so much that it never occurred to us that Cole was speaking about Malcolm as well.
I used to think reaction videos were kinda pointless but movies like this made me appreciate them because it's like getting to experience a great movie again for the first time.
Bruce never gets enough credit for his range as an actor. Some actors are amazing at playing charismatic heroes in big popcorn movies and some actors excel in more nuanced dramatic roles….Bruce was excellent at both. So sad he is going through his health problems but he really has left us with a legacy that generations will continue to enjoy.
Perfect said. Before watching this movie I thought he was just a big action star. But the way he carried this role, freaking amazing. Yeah that is so unfortunate, I recently dug deep and learned about his whole condition. So sad. I love that he has family and loved ones around him
Saw this when it was new and in the theater. EVERYONE gasped when the twist was revealed. There are so many details...Malcom always wears the same suit. When he breaks the window and storms away, his hand covers the bullet entrance wound. When he comes to the restaurant, he doesn't move the chair to sit at her table. The color red always shows up before a ghost appears. You're right, this movie is a masterpiece.
When I saw it in the theater there was a group of punk teenagers who decided it would be funny to spoil it for everyone else by shouting early on at the beginning of the movie "He's dead! Bruce Willis is a ghost! I've seen this already, he's not real!" It ruined the movie for everyone else in attendance.
I believe the reason Malcolm is aware of the bullet wound is because his wife Anna momentarily forgot her grief while embracing and almost kissing her friend. It left Malcolm almost aware of the fact that he's dead. In her grief, Anna still had some denial at the loss of Malcolm; he couldn't move on while she clung to his memory and she couldn't move on while he continued to haunt her. Most people don't really grasp what that little scene about the sapphire ring was about. Anna kept Malcolm's wedding ring like a touchstone, like something that might bring him back. When she finally literally releases it, that's when the separation process begins that frees them both from being locked together.
The ending is structured in 3 parts, kind of unusual. First the two main characters have a happy ending and say goodbye. Then we get the an absolute tearjerker of a conclusion for Cole and his mom. Then at last The Twist - a shock AND a tearjerker. And of course the happy ending sets up both of them. Clever in every detail.
The bathroom scene was a sterling performance by Donnie Whalberg from New Kids. He actually disappears totally into this character. Barely even recognised him 😳🇬🇧
@@LatishaWells 😁 In that case, he succeeded! I used to write and produce for a lot of band in the 80s and 90s and worked with "NKOTB" a lot when they toured here, over the years.... And I didn't recognise him. The voice is very distinctive but I still didn't get it! Little known fact, Donnie was going to do this scene nude. 🤨I'm glad he didn't, it didn't need it and his acting carried it just fine.🇬🇧
It’s so sad because he said “when they are MAD it gets cold” and his mom is always freezing and he’s being attacked because the ones in his home are angry.
I've seen this movie so many times and have neeeever noticed that in the beginning, right when he's shot... He asks "Did Vincent..?". He's been shot, and he was still only worried about his former patient. 😢
Another scene that's amazing to think about on a re-watch is the first time where we see Cole's mom and Malcolm. We see them in the living room sitting across from one another, but we never actually see them talk, we just assume they did.
My aunt took me to the theaters to watch this one and to this day it still makes me emotional. I keep thinking about how hard must have been for this kid, keeping everything to himself in order to protect his mothers feelings. I was a little kid so I also went through the motions of fearing the ghosts to wanting them to get help.
That is real. I'm glad you have that core memory with your aunt about this movie. Yeah cole definitely suffered a lot. I can't even start to imagine how many children go through something similar to this. Obviously not the ghosts part but the part about holding the secret in. It's very sad.
I also saw this in the theater though I was on a date. My heart broke for Cole. Although I came from a long line of people who believed or at least were okay with ghost whispering, I related to when he said "My mom doesn't look at me like I am a freak and I don't want her to".😢 I think that can be why kids don't tell their parents about a lot of things. I didn't want to tell my parents when I got bullied or add to their burdens for sending me to great schools and activities by being "weird". Kids deal with so many scary things on their shoulders that they shouldn't have to figure out how to process alone.
One of the things I love about the directing is that WE don't see the ghosts until after Cole tells us his secret. First, we only see things through the eyes of the people around him, then we see and experience what this little boy has to deal with every single day. My heart also breaks for his mother. Imagine being a single parent, your life revolves around your only child, you know there's something terribly wrong happening to them, but they won't tell you. The whole movie, she's trying to put the pieces together but can't quite figure it out. She's working 2 jobs to provide for her son, and can't even get a full night's sleep because her son is suffering and she's having nightmares. I think the scene in the car is one of the most powerful and emotional scenes of all time. She goes from scared, to confused, to my son might be sick, to highly emotional hearing about her mother, to grateful and relieved that Cole finally told her the truth. Beautiful acting by both.
When Cole says, "they only see what they want to see" is for the audience as well. We only saw what Shyamalan wanted us to see. This was a brilliant movie!
That car scene between Cole and his mom makes me cry everytime I see it. Such great acting between those two. Luv watching people react to this movie and realizing the plot twist at the end..
I can't tell you how hard I was grinning as I listened to your commentary during the movie..knowing what was to come..lol... Such an excellent movie... The scene of the accident..I've watched this dozens of times..and the interaction between the mom and Cole..wow !..so emotional... it's reported they weren't allowed to practice before shooting and it was so raw and surprising to each of them..they knew their own lines but not the replies of the other...this brought out an intensity in the dialogue...just excellent !... So glad you enjoyed it...thank you... 🌿🌿🌿
ahahahaha you were just patiently waiting for the twist to hit me like a train😂😂 That is such a great detail about that scene. The first time reactions from both of them. Absolutely excellent. Thanks for watching
I have always loved this film. the way they portrayed the ghosts was awesome, how they were creepy as hell at first but once he started to talk to them they were just people with tragic stories. I loved this because I have experienced hauntings before and the thing is, if you keep an open mind and don't freak out , you get used to it. That's not to say an apparition flicking past doesn't startle me, but the knowledge they're there isn't a big deal.
I loved that detail as well. Is the same way he first freaked out at the beginning of the movie when he saw Malcolm. But later talks to him in the church and he wasn't so scary. The fact that they're just people with sad stories was heartbreaking. Keeping an open mind it's always a good thing
I don’t have a kid, but I bet there’s nothing like having your own flesh and blood as a little human just running into your arms for comfort. And I feel it is 1000% okay to miss that even selfishly💛🧡
The man at the beginning in the bathroom, none other than Donnie Wahlberg, of New Kids on the Block fame. Older brother to Mark. He, to me, is the most underrated actor in the whole movie. He’s only on screen for about 5 minutes, and he’s completely captivating. Love this movie. It’s soo good. I love that we in the older generation have kept the “social contract” and not spoiled the twist for everyone coming afterwards. It’s an unspoken rule. To watch this in the theater was an experience. Listening to the whole crowd realize the twist at the end…a gasp running through the crowd. Great times. Glad you enjoyed.
I wish I knew who Donnie Wahlberg was before I saw this movie. Because everyone talks about it and we're so impressed that he could act his ass off. He was so remarkable in the beginning scene. And yes I am glad this movie wasn't spoiled for me. I wish I could have experienced that theater experience you guys had back in the day. Sounds glorious. Thanks for watching
@@FrankFreezy_ I was obsessed with Donnie when I was a kid. He was just one of the boy group guys, so to speak. So when this came out, we were ALL blown away. Half of us didn’t even recognize him. Incredible. (I personally think he’s better than his lil brother 🤷🏻♀️😂) and yeah, seeing it in the theater was unforgettable. Worth every penny.
There's a lot of symbolism in this. Red was used as a way to indicate that there were ghosts nearby: The red door nob of Malcom's study, the red balloon before Cole gets locked in the closet, the red blanket fort Cole made, the mother wearing red to the funeral, etc.
My mother spoiled the twist of this movie for me when I was a kid. She thought if I knew exactly how the movie was going to go I wouldn't think it was scary. I'm still salty about it to this day.
I saw Bruce Willis on Inside the Actors Studio. He said he was working on his skill at being "quiet" in his acting. I think he nailed it here. Saw this in the theatre not knowing the premise / plot twist, a well kept secret at the time. Wonderful movie.
I walked into that twist ending like a fish thinking that the worm on the hook is a free lunch. Then again, I would've hated seeing that ending coming.
This movie was brilliantly written. 18:44 "You haven't told bedtime stories before ... You have to add some twists and stuff" ... 22:22 "I see dead people ... They only see what they wanna see. They don't know they're dead" ... while looking a ghost in the eye who doesn't know he's a ghost. They gave away the twist of the movie in plain sight, spelling it out for the viewer, but it's so well written you don't know it's been revealed, just like Malcom doesn't realize that Cole is talking about him.
The scene where they show the door to the basement/his office is blocked by a table tells you so much and people are usually so shocked by the revelation you don't think about it until a couple rewatches. Basically tho, she put that table there because he was haunting the place and she would keep finding that door opened somehow, or hear it being messed with. I would love for someone skilled to write a story from his wife's perspective over the year that he died and haunted her, and what it must have been like from her end to have him finally come to terms with his death and help her heal and move on. Because she was definitely grieving him the whole movie, watching their wedding videos over and over, going to "their" restaurant on their anniversary, carrying around his wedding ring. She could feel that he was still there and couldn't let him go just like he couldn't let her go until he finally moved on. Also I feel like the guy who's been trying to date her deserves a redemption moment lmao everyone always hates him because they think he's trying to get with a married woman but he probably genuinely likes her, especially considering she's obviously in mourning from her husband's murder. That would repel a lot of people when it comes to dating.
Thanks for this comment I absolutely agree. You're the first person to appoint your thoughts and the reasons why the office door was blocked. And it makes so much sense. I think the part that made me emotional was when the reveal happened and I was hit with the realization that she's been sad and depressed this whole time because he was actually dead. All the things you mentioned that she was doing to cope and remember him. It just came crashing in. I too would absolutely love the story from her point of view. I will pay to watch that. And yes the guy she was starting to have feelings for seems like a nice guy you should definitely needed him. I'm sure but now that Malcolm is gone, she and her coworker can start something
The first time I watched this I kept wondering why Cole never went to Malcolm's office, but i would quickly get caught up in the movie and forget. This movie legitimately was the first one that completely surprised me. I'm usually able to figure out plot lines and twists that are going to happen. I never even considered the ending. Another good movie with little Forrest is Pay It Forward. He's still a kid in it. Maybe a little old than he is in this one.
That's right. Even when you're so close to cracking the code, in the movie throws new stuff at you and just takes your whole attention. So good . Thanks for the recommendation
When a person with a speech impediment like stuttering becomes stressed or upset, it becomes harder to control it. That's why the teacher started stuttering again.
I had a bunch of friends who went to see the movie in the theater before I did. They were raving about it and said I need to go see it…and “wait for the twist.” They said it was the biggest twist they had ever seen in a movie. So…I’m watching it in the theater the next day and I keep waiting for the twist. It gets to Cole and his mom in the car and I’m thinking that must be the twist. I was like, “well…that IS a pretty good twist, I guess.” But then, a few moments later, the ring on the floor and it TOTALLY blew my mind. And yes, they were right…it’s the best twist I’ve ever seen in a movie.
For a few years after its release, the plot twist was so famous that it was literally impossible for anyone to watch the movie with fresh eyes and be surprised by it -- EVERYONE had heard it. I'm so glad we've gotten to a point where it can surprise people again! I think one of the smartest things about this movie is that it shows you what happened to Malcolm right away and then it just skips ahead without going into detail. So for the first few minutes, you wonder, what happened, I guess he got better. But then the movie goes on, and a long time passes before the movie reveals that there are ghosts -- so long that most people have gotten caught up in the story and have forgotten that Malcolm had a near-death incident himself, so it doesn't occur to them that he might BE a ghost. All the interactions with his wife are perfectly legitimate for people feeling estranged/neglected and missing having a connection, so most people don't realize until the very end. It's incredibly effective. Love it. Thanks for the reaction!
@@FrankFreezy_ Signs is a great movie and, like this "horror" movie, the surface of the movie is not really what the movie is about. When you get around to it, I think you'll like it.
For those of us who HAVE seen this, watching you cheer for Malcolm's distaste for the 'cheese d***' and dropping perfectly normal responses like "I'm not a fan of cheating, but..." was too funny - the delivery at the end at the point of realization was GOLD. 😅👌
i've rewatched this movie so many times but just now noticed 1:48 they're putting on sweaters in front of a fireplace and somehow i never found that odd.
I've lived in a lot of 1700-1800 era homes that have been carved up into apartments. They all have fireplaces, but very very few are working fireplaces. The chimneys break down, get clogged by soot and flammable tars, collect old birds nests, and simply crack and/or come apart. Aside from being fire hazards, the cracks leak carbon monoxide. Most old fireplaces are bricked up and even covered over by tin. Then the landlord installs radiators or electric heaters.
As a kid who loved horror movies and expecially loved the ghost centric horror, i watched this movie over and over and over. But then i rewatched it as an adult with an 8 year old son and it feels like such a different movie. It hits so hard. Imagine being that mother. You just had a little fight about a bumble bee pendant and an hour later your little boy is obviously terrified of something, shaking, but refuses to tell you why and still has to emotional bandwidth to specify "-if youre not too mad- can i sleep in your bad tonight". The terror, helplessness, and frustration you would feel is insane and every actor in this movie elevated it so much. Toni Collette is absolutely no exception.
I've heard so many mothers say how watching this movie after they became a parent hit so much harder. And thank you so much for sharing that. The biggest thing is that helplessness right, like knowing your baby needs something but they don't know how to ask for it. And you don't know what to do. I love how incredibly they portrayed that
Back then, plot twists like this were not expected. Even those of us who had heard going into it that there was a plot twist, many of us still didn't see that coming. What's fun is watching it after the fact, all these little things you catch that seemed odd or strange before, now they make so much sense. It is really brilliantly put together. Another one along the same lines is The Others with Nicole Kidman.
There are subtle hints at every thing in the movie. For example if you go back to that little girls funeral/family visitation notice how every person is wearing black except for the mother who is in bright red…🧐
I read somewhere that the director kept the full lines from each actor in the car scene at the end. The actress didn't know the answer "every day" and Haley Joel didn't know the question do their reactions were spontaneous. This whole movie is brilliant and this reaction was about as entertaining as the first time I saw it.
Another really good movie that shows how good of an actor he is at such a young age is pay it forward. Its a tear jerker but such a good movie. Definitely give it a watch
I'm 52 now, this is the only movie I've ever watched were I didn't realise what was happening right up until the ring fell on the floor. It blew my mind. It is so well written and directed. There has never been another movie like it since that was able to trick the audience like this movie does. Bravo
One thing I think is underestimated is the performance of Olivia Williams as Anna. Her acting is spot on for two roles simultaneously. She is an estranged wife, angry at her distant, workaholic husband and considering cheating. She is a grieving wife, confused by the mix of loss and feelings for someone else. She nails them both.
This movie is hard to put into a category or a genre; it's not "horror," but it IS a ghost story. However, at its heart, it's a love story. As you said, with Cole and his mother and with Malcolm and his wife (Anna). It starts out creepy, but by its end, it's just really sad. My heart aches for Anna, who had to witness her husband's murder, then try to move on from that.
Fantastic reaction! I saw this in the theater with my mom when it first came out, and everyone in there gasped! It was amazing. I’ve never known anyone that had it figured out before the reveal. I wish more movies were like this. A true classic. ❤
You missed They only see what they want to see part ... Also, Shymalan referenced the fact that the mom of the dead girl had a condition ' Munchausen syndrome by proxy' Clever ...
Nobody ever sees this plot twist coming. I didn’t, my friends didn’t and nobody I’ve ever met has seen it coming. If anyone claims to have seen it coming, they are lying!
Always great to see someone go through all the emotions this movie instills during their first watch. Countless viewings of this movie my only regret is I can’t experience it for the first time again. Watching someone react to it during their first time is a close second. Amazing reaction and glad you pulled through the horror. I myself am a horror fan but this movies horror is done so well it still makes me uncomfortable/uneasy.
I wanted to point out most respectfully the difference between joy and pleasure. If you want to repeat joy, it becomes pleasure. Joy is pure, divine, whole, free from conflict and belongs to love. Pleasure is self-centered, shallow, leads to fragmentation and conflict between you and the world and belongs to fear. I know this comment is overly dramatic, still it came to mind and I just wanted to share it in case it interests you. BTW the key out of that conflict is being aware of your inner fears, longings, thoughts and feelings instead of pushing them away or fighting them. Be aware of your inner movements from the moment you wake up until you go to sleep. It’s the hardest thing a human being can do, but then the fragmentation will resolve and disappear and what will be left is
Perfectly sad. Now I'm eager to go watch other reaction channels and find out how the handle this scene. Just to relive it again. Thanks for watching. Good to know that this movie was still on easy for even a fan of Horror
You can now proceed down the M. Night Shyamalan path. He has another film in which Bruce Willis started in, Unbreakable, that may be worth checking out. He’s also directed a couple of other bangers, Signs and The Village. He’s known for some great plot twists
I am convinced that M Night Shyamalan is the modern day Rod Serling. WARNING: SPOILERS! Serling wrote these deep stories and clothed them in other genres. They were set in the old west, outer space, in small towns, in large cities, in hillbilly backwoods, in atomic apocalypses, in the Civil War, on WWII battlefields, in Hell, in Mansions and townhouses, in basement apartments, in boarding houses, etc. The characters varied from ordinary people to the elderly to dreamers to the gifted to devils to witches to even Death himself. Serling was well-respected for how he elevated these stories to something special. I think Shyamalan does the same. "The Sixth Sense" is NOT a ghost or horror story. "Signs" is not an alien invasion story. "The Village" is not a gothic costume drama. The "Unbreakable" trilogy is not a superhero story. That's just the genres clothing the deeper story. I just wish Shyamalan got the same recognition and respect that Serling got.
Here's a clue: "The Twilight Zone". Serling created the original weekly TV series which ran from 1959 to 1964. It stretched out further through reruns. The stories are so good, it's a favorite for rerun broadcasts. The episodes are available on RU-vid. Serling had quite a number of fresh unknown actors in the episodes, who went on to be more well-known. People like Bill Mumy, George Takei, Charles Bronson, Robert Redford, William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, James Doohan, Elizabeth Montgomery, Dennis Hopper, Julie Newmar, Robert Duvall, Cloris Leachman, and others. In 1964 Rod Serling did a rewrite of Dickens's "A Christmas Carol" he titled "Carol for Another Christmas", set in the modern times of 1964. Incredible story. There's a part where the Christmas Future shows a post-nuclear America run by a leader (played by Peter Sellers) under the 'Imperial ME" Party. If you want to go straight there, just put the following in the RU-vid search bar: Cautionary Tale: Imperial Me scene - Carol for Another Christmas @@jeffbartholomew1152
@@jeffbartholomew1152He was the creator & host of The Twilight Zone series back in the '60s & Night Gallery in the '70s. He also wrote many dramas & live plays for TV from the '50s onward. A brilliant talent who died far too young from lung cancer.
I did not see this coming when i watched it 23 years ago and it was the most amazing twist i've ever witnessed. I am jealous of all the people who still have the opportunity to experience this for the first time and it is for the last time as well. An experience you can only have once. But the amazing thing is, after all these years and having watched this movie about 15 times since then, i still get teared up and emotionally invested every single time. So even without the suprise moment of the twist this movie still completely works. One of the best movies ever made, some of the finest acting, especially from Cole and his mom.
"What if this turns out to be a horror movie? I don't do so well with horror movies." I giggled with evil anticipation at that! :D Though technically, I'd call this more of a dramatic thriller than a horror, though it obviously has moments that are genuinely very frightening. And "Little Forrest" is named Haley Joel Osment, and for me he ties for best child actor of all time with Natalie Portman. He was nominated for an Oscar for this movie but didn't win, which I think was a mistake on the judging committee's part. He absolutely deserved that award for this performance. But, he lost to Michael Caine, and if you're going to lose, you could do much worse than lose to Michael Caine! :) I'm very glad you stuck with the movie even though you're not great with the horror elements because it's really such a beautiful film and pretty much mandatory viewing in my eyes. As for your question about the twist: I did not see it coming, at all, not one bit! :D I don't know of anyone personally who actually saw the twist coming, particularly when the film first came out. I have seen younger reactors now (in their early 20's) who pick up on it, and while a lot of the commentors assume that means they're faking their reaction for views, I don't think that's it at all. This film set off a trend of twists in movies for a while, even in movies where they didn't really make sense to have and made the movies worse for it. So, my theory is that the younger audience has been exposed to more twists than we had been when this movie first came out, so they've sort of been trained to pick up on twist clues. Because twists happened in films prior to this one, of course, but this one was HUGE and packed such an emotional punch that it leaves a lasting impression. Great reaction. Looking forward to more! If you want to see another AMAZING child actor performance, check out "Leon: the Professional." I think it was one of Natalie Portman's first major roles, and she was about 11 or so, and totally nailed it. I recommend you watch the so-called "international cut" versus the US version. The international version is "Leon: the Professional" and the US version is just "The Professional." It also stars Gary Oldman as one of his most delightfully twisted characters ever. Cheers! EDIT- I posted this on my android, and didn't realize I'd left such a long damn comment until it posted. So, sorry for giving you a novel to read! It's the writer in me ;)
Late to the party but red shows up every time there are ghosts. That’s why that girls mom is wearing red at the funeral and behind her are the red roses, the red balloon that floats to the ceiling at that kids birthday party, Anna has a red blanket, etc. it’s a very cool detail!
It also makes perfect sense why they don't meet at an office. Because there's no office anymore, and he just appears where Cole is every time, just like the other ghosts.
Such a great movie. Haley Joel Osment who plays Cole became one of the youngest people ever to be nominated for best supporting actor academy award for this movie. Toni Colette who plays his mom was also nominated for best supporting actress for this role. That car scene makes me cry every time. They both should have academy awards just for that scene.
I love how you are allowing yourself to simply experience the film and not try to guess ahead of the story like most I've seen review this iconic movie...immediately subscribed 😊
@@FrankFreezy_ I am a great grandma and as soon as I get my Social Security check, I’m going to subscribe as a patron. You are a wonderful young man and your artwork is astounding.
The guy who shot Bruce in the beginning was Donnie Wahlberg from new kids on the block. He said he lost a lot of weight for this role to prove he was serious about acting and I think he delivered. Other good movies u could react to are Apocalypto The others Get out The village A Bronx tell
Great reaction! I remember seeing this in the cinemas when it was first released and the only reason my friend and I ended up seeing it was because the other film we had originally planned on watching was sold out. We knew nothing about The Sixth Sense going in and were blown away by the twist. We ended up being thankful our original movie was sold out. Glad you you enjoyed it.
. M Night Shyamalan is brilliant in his use of foreshadowing, There were hints that no one picked up on the first time watching. Cole told Malcom that a good story needs a twist. Malcom never converses with anyone else in the film. His clothes remain the same although he takes of his jacket often. The color red is used throughout the film indicating spirit activity is about to happen, like the red balloon floating up the staircase Little details easily overlooked return with a big impact. Great film.
I love that people can actually go into this blind now. The premise that was all over the advertisements actually ruined the first twist, which is that he sees dead people. That's like a third of the way through and is carefully constructed to be a shock, but you need to go in blind to enjoy it. The second twist is what blows everybody's minds, anyway, but that this movie has two crazy twists that work so well is something I wish I could have experienced.
This movie and the actors should have been showered with Oscars. I've seen it so many times and I hold my breath every fucking time, just like in Back to the Future. An absolute masterpiece.
As someone who did a lot of "masking" growing up, trying to hide various things, one of the lines that gets me is "They don't have meetings about rainbows".
I remember watching this in the theater. Can you imagine, the wave of people gasping and some screaming as they realized he was dead. Amazing! Great react. just found your channel and had to subscribed. 🙂
@FrankFreezy_ I definitely recommend "Shutter Island"!! It's a great psychological thriller and every actor in it gives a wonderful performance! 👍 I think you'd love it.
The ending really makes you appreciate all of the careful editing in the movie. When Bruce Willis goes back to his house, the camera angle is top-down so you never actually see him open the door to get it in.
This was an AMAZING reaction! The Red color was intentionally symbolic. (The Doorknob, the Pills, the Dress) It basically represented angry ghosts/ evil, etc. I saw this movie one YEAR after it came out (on DVD) with a bunch of friends who had already seen it and miraculously, I managed to avoid the twist ending being spoiled! (Though I DID know that there WAS a twist ending.) It was done SO well, I STILL didn't figure out the twist until mere MINUTES before the reveal! It was SO well done, yet so OBVIOUS in hindsight!
I'll never forget seeing this film for the first time when it came out. It's amazing how the answers were right there the whole time and somehow, we just wouldn't allow ourselves to see them until the end. Amazing film!
1. Haley Joel Osment played Forrestt Gump Jr, in "AI" and absolutely kills in this.😎 2. I first knew when he met his wife when she was morning him alone at the anniversary meal. Only one place setting. 3. I watched my now ex to see when she got it but she never picked it up until the reveal. 4. They help each other. 5. Cole knew he wouldn't see Malcolm again. 6. Cole to Malcolm, "Sometimes magic's real", then gives the penny back. 7. A fun movie for review of a Bruce Willis is, "The Last Boy Scout". HINT HINT 8. Missing you Bruce.😥
This is my favorite movie to watch people's reactions. Your insights and comments were excellent! And then the WOW! And it is enjoyable to watch it again (and again) knowing. Another favorite of mine is Ordinary People. It won best picture back in 1980. A much different genre, but the characters, writing and acting all top notch!
