Imo their mastery and ability to win with multiple characters should factor into their goat status. Compared to someone like sonix who is only good with sonic. Sparg0 is the only up and comer who can also do it like them
It is great seeing how comfortable Leo has been doing all these shows and interviews, not many former #1 players did this much for their game aside from Hbox.
Saying Tweek “fell off” is kind of crazy considering that this is maybe his best year of smash since 2019, but regardless of that, I love the way that this show is evolving and the direction it’s going in to focus on Leo, the guest, and general relevant topics in a way that balances out very well.
I think it is fair to say he did rankings wise though. Tweek used to always be considered a top 3 player and he is not really in consideration for that right now according to most. Top 3 is basically Acola, Miya, and Spargo for sure right now. I am not even sure you would place him in the top 5 ahead of Sonix and Glutonny right now either. And Light and Zomba are right there with him in USA now. Tweek used to be considered easily the best in the USA and while he may still be it isn't by much.
The amount of respect and admiration these 2 have for each other is truly the true mark of sportsmanship. Hope to see them do well this weekend, they still have that 🔥. Let's go my 🐐s!
Very well said!!! I was wondering why watching this made me so happy but you hit the nail on the head. Some of the best sportsmanship I’ve ever seen between two great people and players 🩵
This been a LONG TIME COMIN! Hear about these two talking behind the scenes at so many tournaments but never on cam, so this is nothing less than a treat
Here’s the thing: these two are my favorite players. I DO NOT care if people say they fell off (I don’t think they did they’re both still top ten imo). I’m going to watch whenever they play, I’m going to root for them, and I’m stoked to see them at tournaments. They are and will always be the Great Gods of Smash
Well, "fell off" relative to their peak. Leo was #1 for like 5 years, so being "just" top 10 is a bit of a downgrade. In fact, his results this season may not even be good enough for top 10, he's more like top 15, just shy of that top 10 placement. he'd need like a top 3 at a P tier or something to really cement him as a top 10 right now before the season is over. Leo hasnt actually even won a major in a while now. Not even like an A tier. Tweek hasnt really fallen off though imo. He's like, SLIGHTLY lower ranking wise, instead of being #2/#3, he's like in the 5-7 range. But he's still pretty much one of the biggest threats in smash right now so hardly a drop off. But he still wins events even.
Best episode so far. It's hard to put into words the rivalry, comradery and respect these two have for each other. I can't but thing of Mang0 vs Armada and how sad it'd be if one of them stopped competing. Gotta keep that fire alive.
Forever my GOATS. Nothing beats having watched their Evo set for the first time. I was just getting into watching smash and it is the reason why I love it so much
Shoutout to production! Audio, lighting, editing, and angles are all so on point. This would easily be the greatest smash podcast series we’ve ever had.
Tweek & MKLeo are both awesome. If either of you see this comment, thank you for everything. Thank you for being good role models in the community, thank you for shaping the meta the way it is, and thank you for showing everyone how hype Smash can be. When you two play, I feel a type of excitement I hardly feel anywhere else. Win or lose, you two are the GOATs. Also, thank you Luminosity for sponsoring these amazing players. Thank you for sticking with Smash even after Nintendo's Guidelines, and thank you for all of this good RU-vid! I think Smash would actually be dead if it wasn't for this organization.
i love seeing tweek give mk leo his flowers unabashedly. no one is there to cut in and make a joke and it was just really nice and sweet. I didn't realize how much of an impact mk leo has had on tweek cause of the competitive narrative
Wow what a great interview and dynamic. It’s really cool seeing leo get more comfy in front of the camera and carrying himself in a more confident way. Love these guys and their history and for what’s to come 🍻
I fricken love these two, I could listen to them all day! I love that they're on the same team and are friends! They're so cute and sweet together and you can see how much they respect and value one another. I legit almost cried when they talked about how they'd be lonely if the other stopped competing! It's always a pleasure to see them together, be it in bracket or just chatting!
tweek didnt fall off and leo just fell off being #1..leo still gets amazing results its just not #1...doesnt mean they suck, means the bar they set for themselves is hard to reach.
I’m so glad these 2 are still around, I’ve been here since Tweek was playing Jr and Mkleo’s big breakthrough at Smash factor 4 in 2015 so it’s cool to see where they’re at now
I loved getting this back and forth between the great rivals. Both of these players have been pioneers in so many different characters in the current meta. I know your rankings or seedings aren't as high as they were. But what you should remember is this simple fact: If Leo or Tweek won the next major it would be no great shock. Seed them wherever you want, they are a lifetime. threat. At any and every tournament they show to. Also, know that during quarantine every local had some players studying Tweek and Leo's habits by vods. No doubt. I love how you guys love the game. Your relationship of challenging each other has pushed each other to be a better player. And it's so cool to see there is no bitterness in the rivalry after all this time.
Loving goat talk more each iteration, already a fan of tweel talks but watching Leo here makes me want to see him do these more often, love his insight about the scene/players etc. Hope these become regular or Leo ends up joining or even making his own podcast!
I’m shocked these guys are so young. As a 32 year old, their maturity is impressive to me. I guess all the travelling, competition etc. pushes you to your limits in every way.
I relate so much to Tweek and his mentality. How does Leo do it? One of the best things about leo is he's just so damn chill about everything, but still strives to stay on top. It's genuinely mindblowing, and I'd say most of us would agree it's insane how goated his behavior and sportsmanship is.
I'll always love the days of early ultimate and these two dominating the rankings. Because back then I was in highschool and all my friends we gathered around to play smash. It was my first smash game I played competitive style instead of casual, and created some of the most fun days in school! Ofc learning about Mkleo, Tweek, Light, and Void(my fav at the time) really pushed to dive deeper into the game. I'll never forget the day joker released and how excited I was and then watching Leo vs Tweek at evo 2019!! Definitely nostaligic😊
I have a strange feeling next year we're gonna have 12 Tweek vs MkLeo Grand Finals. Let's go goats! Been following both since the smash 4 days and honestly just glad both are still here and competing, win or lose they'll forever be some of the greatest rivalry, greatest competitors, greatest players the scene had ever seen
Favorite two players. So humble. Good energy. The community could learn a lot from these guys. Regardless of placement these 2 will remain my favorite smash players
Good interview so awesome that they acknoledge how much of an impact they have made to one another and everything. Hope they both make it to grand finals this next tourney that would be great!
In my opinion...top two players in smash period. Always the most fun to watch and definitely defines what it means to be chill human beings and amazing competitors. Great to see the old school still thriving to be the best and continue a long rivalry and friendship. Evolve, evolve evolve.
Thanks Luminosity for supporting the Smash scene and giving these amazing/ talented individuals work to keep up a living playing the game we all love. A lot of respect to these two legends, Smash easily has the best Pros in all of esports. The skill, the humble attitudes, and the passion they share with fans makes it a community I want to be in.
Leo's podcast publicly available on youtube now is dope but uhhh maybe yall could put "Goat Talks:" in front of the titles so that it's actually clear that this is Leo's podcast. Like friends of mine who didn't already know that he had a podcast just assumed this was a video LG put out dragging their own players instead of Leo's podcast lol
I feel like these 2 are extremely knowledgeable in smash ultimate in different way. Tweek focuses more on the mental side and new ideas and creativity while leo is more instinctual and tries to simplify the game to how he likes it. Its really fascinating to me
I love how funny the titles are cause Tweek and Leo still have good placements for the events they go too. It’s just Leo used to always win and Tweek earlier this year was top 8ing everything. I think this being considered them falling off shows how good they are
Also these guys are so humble, i love when they talk they shit 😂 they deserve that ! I hate when people talk down on them like they aint pave the way for a lot of smash ultimate..
I don't know when I started watching smash but I've been playing it my whole life and when I started watching it was because of your rivalry, thank you for making the smash scene so entertaining for years, you 2 are without a doubt my goats!❤
I feel like seeing tweek play roy would be crazy, they talked a lil bit about it probably would never happen tho 😂. But love to see my goats talkin, great video. Tweek got me into smash, such a good dude !
i've always wondered how the top crop really thought about steve and this was super interesting to hear from them. i actually really liked this segment! thank you LG!
To tweek: Manchego can be found in the US at most stores. Walmart, Trader Joe’s, and even Costco has it, but its not always in the most obvious spot. It pairs well with wheat thins and Fig jam.
lmao the title made me think this was a video by some random smash youtuber wasn't expecting a podcast with tweek and leo but that's the best outcome i coulda got from clicking on this
I would actually like to see a top player pick up Steve. So far only newcomers picked it up besides Syrup. The char has so much untapped potential cause all the current mains are as lazy about learning his tech as everyone else is about learning the matchup. You also don't HAVE to play the char campy.
It sucks that Salem got himself banned cause his Steve goes WAY harder than every other Steve. I think he would run away with #1 rank if he could compete.
depends on the player, it just doesnt suit someones playstyle to play a certain way sometimes. There are top representives of chars that play them very differently from one another. Even the top steves play different. Onin goes for way more set ups and usually only farms enough to get enough iron and then goes in. Acola stays behind his wall all the time and keeps farming even when his item bar is full and once someone breaks through the wall he built he minecarts to the other side of the stage and makes a new wall there and repeat, he doesnt engage at all with his opponent. And neither of the two really utilize Steves immense combo potential. You could definitely play a more aggressive Steve and use the wall behind you instead of between you and your opponent.@@LemonJoos
Straight up, no matter what happens these two will always be my goats of smash and i know I’m not the only one either, i love watching both of them play and I honestly do personally wish that someday when i start going to tournaments and majors and stuff(if nintendo doesn’t ruin it) i do wanna play them someday
I think the one thing that could help is not switching to maining steve, but playing him long enough to see things you can't do with him.. and taking advantage of that with characters you do play.
I feel like there's a lot more to it than just the meta and addition of characters that makes ultimate feel different. Online has never existed as it does in its current state. Travel is a lot more common for people now whereas back then you'd go to locals and that's it. You have talent popping up left and right simply because kids can actually get to tournaments now. And lastly ultimates characters are the most balanced of all the other games. It's not just a different era of smash it's a different era of gaming as a whole
