The athletes in this video are attractive, but if you watch the Olympics or a regular European soccer game you see wayyyyyy more average or unattractive athletes than attractive ones. It also highly depends which kind of sport they're doing. Marathon runners do not look healthy by beauty standards (they look worn out and scrawny) for ex.
When people hear "sports", they're thinking the same dozen or so sports filled with healthy people. Nobody thinks "marathon runner", but they DO think "sprinter" when hearing the word "sports"
I thought the same. But in the same soccer game Spectrum, just take out the top 10 players in the league. I'm fairly certain most of them are above average in looks. PS- Marathon running is perhaps an exception I agree. Could be more more similar sports like it. But vast majority the top tier athletes are generally better looking.
Some of the most sickly looking people I've ever met are very big into running,, I don't think they realize they look just like someone strung out on hard drugs,, the gaunt sunken in face, skeletal frame,, when you meet a sixty-year-old woman who looks like that the first thing that pops into your head is drug addict not Avid Runner,,, I don't think these people realize that you're supposed to have some sort of fat on your body nobody looks good with a BMI of 2
I would argue that a lot of it comes down to eating healthy and doing a lot of exercise from a young age. Chances are if your professional you have been training in that sport for most if not close to all your childhood, before your features are fully grown. That amount of good going into the body before it is fully formed is bound to positively impact, especially bone structure, posture, skin clearness, etc.
I could see how doing all those right things from a young age would allow your genetics to express their potential. However, lots of people are still disadvantaged genetically so even growing up optimally they may still not be able to 'compete' with those who also grew up optimally but who also have great genetics. It's still well worth doing regardless of genetics though.
That is exactly what it is. They developed good habits that set them up for the rest of their life. Once you already developed it’s harder to change subconsciously and structural. Especially the facial structure gets extremely hard to change.
@@strongindependentblackwoma1887 it will improve your face but put into perspective that in comparison to these athletes you are 18 years behind. Its not that you are disadvantaged, its just that they were advantaged to have been living a healthy lifestyle before and during puberty ie lots of sleep, quality nutrition, exercise
I laughed but this is also very true. People have it in there head that the jaw structure is 100 percent genetically determined.Even though orthodontists and dentists make this claim- it's total but profitable B.S. Face day starts the day a baby is born- breast feeding and the transition to chewing exercises "called eating less processed food" will insure that someone ends up with at least a decent jaw. There is not an animal in the wild that needs orthodontist. Just humans that feed their young processed mush starting with the Agricultural revolution and getting especially bad in the 20th/21st century.
@benroberts1446 This won't change your genetic jaw shape or things like chin length. What it will do is keep your teeth straight and make your jaw muscles strong. Some people do have genetically better-looking faces, but if you eat right and develop your jaw properly, the only difference between you and another person with a better-looking jawline is esthetics. Google mewing, and you'll go down the rabbit hole that will give you all of this information. Just be sure to be critical and fact-check everything. Some people straight up claim that it will impact your intelligence and height. It won't. It will just make your teeth straight and strong.
I think attractive people are more successful at everything across the board because they're better supported/nurtured than ugly people. At a peer level ugly people tend to get excluded, picked on, made fun of more than good looking people, which makes it harder to compete against those people. Attractive people will receive more enthusiasm and better mentorship allowing them to excel in all fields. Think of it this way, an ugly person is more likely to be humiliated by their peers when they make a mistake and conversely a beautiful person is more likely to be cheered when they succeed at something.
Yeah I agree, attractive people receive validation no matter if they win or lose while unattractive people usually receive less/none or may be shunned.
Mads Mikkelsen was a gymnast and ballet dancer he is very attractive in every way. He moves his body in such a controlled and graceful manor. He’s focused and that comes from his athletic training.
Dancers and yogis definitely move more gracefully and have better posture. It’s also very attractive when people combine a more graceful form of athleticism with a more robust /powerful form. For example Jeon Jungkook from BTS is a skilled dancer and they do both graceful and artistic dances and some that require a lot of physical power, he also loves boxing. So even when he walks he has both grace and power, it definitely makes me want to learn boxing too! 🥊 😂 it’s so attractiveeee!!
Until he opens his mouth. 😡 Not a nice man in person, unfortunately. His politics are not the most open-minded or educated when it comes to his privileged place in society.
*It goes deeper into defining beauty.* 1. Aesthetics just for aesthetics. Perhaps mathematical golden numbers. (No real purpose cosmetics; like eye color, hair type, etc.) 2. Biomarkers- Resourcefulness, reproduction, height, muscle mass. Athletes hit beauty definition Number 2. The low body bmi, the muscle, the glowing skin w vibrant hair, etc, (produced via constant and consistent biochemistry of being active).
There are so many factors, including symmetry, circulation, hormones, and vitality. Asymmetric people (one arm longer than the other) are unlikely to run or swim as fast or jump as high. A symmetric body is also likely to be reflected in a symmetric face, which is widely considered attractive. Also, there are many "flaws" that are unlikely to appear in athletes, such as poor posture, a hunchback or swayback, etc. Also, if you are getting a ton of exercise your hormonal profile and circulation are likely to be very good. Those who have the best circulation and hormones are likely to have the best hair (since circulation feeds hair and hormonal problems can affect hair too) and skin. It's all a big, interconnected loop. The part that I never considered was the fact that athletes also maximize their social value. Also, for many, hard work and commitment are attractive qualities in a potential partner, so it seems that athletes would be prequalified for that as well. Interesting topic!
I noticed that coaches often picked players before me because they had good solid faces and jaws in comparison to me, they maybe looked more competent and masculine even though in training I won more ball, scored a bit more and ran a bit more than them. This happened with people I'd have judged myself to be on a relatively similar level to in terms of skills and fitness but slightly better in terms of performance, but of course that's my subjective experience and I may hold some unconscious bias towards myself!
@@lavatr8322 Sadly, that happened all the time and not just in sport, if there a more attractive people being compared to you, people would choose the attractive one 90% of the time.
It has been proven that those who exceed in sport, were often in some way favored by their coach. Even if they didn't necessarily have the most talent, the fact that their coaches put most of their time believing in them and pushing them, they end up succeeding. In fact, expecting one to succeed actually increases the chances of them going far in the sport they do, while the opposite also applies. So through the halo effect, more attractive people might get more chances to be in the spotlight because of this unconscious bias and might end up getting farther than those who actually had more talent, but no one to bring out that talent.
But don’t get it twisted, look at a lot of these athletes, like Cristiano Ronaldo’s old pictures. They did not look like how they look now that’s money that got them looking good not fitness because they were fit before when they were broke.
I think the point he's training to make is that much of his attractiveness çan be traced to, for example, better skin treatments he started being able to afford later in life. Compared to innate traits like facial structure.
He was more much attractive than the average person from the beginning, we just have a cultural beauty standard that includes straight shiny pearly whites and radiant skin, any of his younger images where he has a closed mouth you can see his underlying skull shape and cheekbones and jaw are all far better than average
Optimal craniofacial development allows for better sleep and bodily tissue oxygenation during exercise too. Pretty obvious benefits. That and less likelihood of developing image issues in part because of the improved brain health, positive environmental feedback loop and better facial features. The less dysfunction in an individual, the less likely they'll acquire distractions and mental/physical issues.
I’m all for becoming more athletic and being a healthy weight to be more attractive. Being in shape and eating healthy are one of the few things we can control about our looks
@@rea280 if you exercise or not is determined by biological phenomena of which you have no control, for example, how motivated are you? what is your capacity to do the hard things? how well do you deal with stress? and so on.
@@Danuxsy Humans are not worms. We have a degree of self awareness and conscious effort can make most conceivable things possible. I used to be borderline anorexic and I forced myself to eat more and exercise. Right ? There’s literally soooo many athletes performing at the top tier level. Only few become household names outside of sports fans. Of course skill and setting records gets the attention, but being good looking will have the public not forgetting about you
@@brandoncrooks1681 He's saying in general athletes have more attractive faces due to their low body fat percentage. Which I just don't think is true. Most athletes are incredibly average facial wise imo.
@@dvide2308 a person starts believing in themselves with the positive feedback of their talent in display. If they don't have the talent or good performance people won't reward him with praises, instead they may even be quite more likely to reprehend and discourage him, and therefore this man or woman will become less confident in their performance. You can conclude that competence leads to confidence, but there is no assurance of the opposite. I can see competent people being confident exactly because they are competent and everyone sees it and praise it, so he or she sees it too and internalizes this idea within themselves, while the opposite is simply rare. You can also be confident and incompetent, though - but you will still be incompetent as confident as you are.
@@gaaraio2771 this is true, but what is talent? I think that is rarely have a talent from birth. An athlete is good because of his persistence, will and in some cases almost obession. So, for having talent you obviously must to have a good body from genetics, but also a good brain for bring out the “talent”
I mean you just picked good looking athletes to prove the point, but there are many top athletes who are average or unattractive (Messi is dead average, so is Mbappe, Haaland has a great body but his face is...yeah). Their only adventage are their fit bodies but thats it. And many women don't find CR7 that attractive since he looks too groomed and kinda plastic.
Your point is completely valid but I actually thought Messi was attractive.... Maybe i wasn't attracted to him in general but he looks very attractive when playing... If that makes sense....
@@grannyrocks even tho I don't find him attractive I often see myself finding some football players hot while they're playing, than I look up their pictures and they don't look that good. Some people look better in motion than in pictures ig. I often find female soccer or tennis players beautiful on the pitch, no or minimal makeup, tanned with flushed rosy cheeks, but than I see tham with makeup in a talk show or an award ceremony and they don't look as good.
Because if you aren’t pretty enough or skinny enough, you are simply not allowed in the dance company . By being kept at a lower than bmi weight , ballet dancers don’t develop as much during puberty. The ideal body type in ballet is that of a child. I understand what you’re saying, but if you know, nothing of the history or culture of ballet, you come across like a straight up, pedo saying that… 😮
I have a lot of ballet dancers in my family on both of my parents sides I was even in ballet at one point,, they don't all look the same you know,,.. the amount of makeup in that industry makes high-fashion look juvenile, the amount of Eating Disorders in that industry, and the amount of permanently disfigured people because they took ballet too serious too young I mean it's astounding,, but still if you take off their makeup and see them with natural hair they all look different,, unless of course they have done permanent damage to their body and you're seeing the effects of long-term starvation....
I think this applies more to men than women, generally speaking. Female athletes definitely don't make up a large portion of the most attractive women out there. I would guess this is because being a highly skilled female athlete also means that you are stronger/more muscular and therefore more masculine, which is less desirable as a woman. There's a reason the star football player in highschool is dating the prettiest cheerleader and not the best player on the girl's softball team.
This applies to women also. Athletic women have nice developed butts, toned, and have nice tans if they train outside. They look and glow better. Cheerleading is a very physically demanding sport! Also you watch too much tv cause usually the star athletes in high school get with other girls in sports like soccer, swimming, or volleyball.
@@Chinz1 are u joking? He was very hidious and skinny Ronaldo has a private chef , kitched private gym , private trainer Pirvate massage person Helping him to eat clean build muscle. I think it reinforces some of your ideas that athletes (Ronaldo, Tom Brady) thought it worthwhile to get plastic surgery, cosmetic dentistry etc. Maybe on some level they realized it conveyed advantages their physical prowess alone did not.
Ronaldinho was judged too ugly by Real Madrid to be recruited in 2003... He ended up being the best footballer that ever existed. His famous goal against Chelsea in Champions League is a piece of art in itself.
One day i was watching a drew gooden video as i do, but i noticed him more attractive that usual and couldnt point out why. I dont really watch him because of his looks but i could notice something changed in that video. Turns out in his next upload he explains he was doing a fitness challenge and it all made sense. The changes are subtle but noticeable, and the challenge wasnt even that long. So thats were i noticed how much being fit or just taking care of your body could could do 🙂👍
Fascinating. Have often noticed the “concentration” of attractive people among athletes and came up with all kinds of speculations of my own to explain it. Some corroborated by the video, and some challenged.
It's not just sports! It's competition and winning! People who have the drive to improve in some form and compete against others have that special charisma. It's like a visual sign of someone who knows what he/she wants to achieve.
For women much moreso than for a man. As a woman, even being slightly attractive is a huge asset, but a man really has to be strikingly good looking (like top .05%), even with his clothes on, to really have any advantages.
Training and being active from a young age will boost your growth hormone thus your height muscle mass skin hair .. etc overall good health and body control ,and usually athletes have a great communication skills due to their environment and of course not to forget their healthy eating habits.
It would be interesting to see a video on just social perception and how it influences attractiveness, someone like Van McCann for instance who is not conventionally attractive but young women are crazy about him.
My sister was extremely athletic in school, she was the pretty popular sister 😂 love her ❤ i was the smart pretty one but i wasnt popular at all from my self i was popular due to her, thankfully!
Bruh, you're from a different part of Australia than me. In high school and primary school ALL the athletic kids were popular and most of the popular kids were athletes (yes I did go to school in a small town). But this did cool down the further from primary school you got, most kids left sports to start focusing on studies around year 10. A contrast to the US where athletes get more competitive so they can get college scholarships and whatnot.
@@carrington2949 it’s pretty damn expensive here man. And it costs double if you are an international student. We have interest free student loans though
We all know, when in school picking teams, the best looking people always got picked first (ability second). And the best looking guy was always the one to be picked for quarterback.
Athletes start very young and train for a decade or 2. Imagine two kids one kid trains ,sleeps properly, eats healthy and the other who doesn't do it but i have seen so many athletes who does everything right but they don't get enough sleep and healthy diet they look far worse than average non athletes.
As a person who used to be hunchbacked and made improvements, fitness also improves your posture which really improves your appearances. Posture is so underrated and doesn’t get enough credit for increasing your physical attractiveness
This phenomenon can also be seen in the design of sports cars. Sports cars are more atractive than utilitarian vehicles. often this cars have exaggerated features like air vents for better cooling, or big brake calipers that you can show off by painting them red or neon. There is a lot of performance and also make up 💅
The better you look the easier life gonna be for you , the most attractive people in showbiz , movies and sports receive more positive reinforcement , emotional supports and financial assistance than non attractive ones , they get pushed up to the point they can’t technically lose
Becoming an athlete would also probably make even your face more attractive in most cases because, even if it's just a small effect, exercising more and eating healthier would, for example, reduce the amount of fat in your face, maybe slightly increase the muscular strength in your neck and face and possibly even things like making your skin healthier from a better diet etc. So even if it weren't the case that more attractive people were more likely to go into sports and were just a random selection of the population, they would become more attractive on average. In other words, when you have a healthier lifestyle you're maximizing the potential attractiveness of your face, whereas someone who is unhealthy is probably making their face less attractive even if it started out average or above-average.
Rigorous exercise increases in circulating growth hormone levels which will overtime result in more robust facial features as well as better skin and hair quality. Combine that with lower body fat percentage and bam! Attractive.
People who are more attractive are more likely to go on to be more skilled due to getting better opportunities. Not to mention athletes tend to have low percentages of body fat.
Alica Schmith has entered the chat !!! German runner who is basically a model but tbh I have never seen her win a race and rumor is she was offerd to join german olympic squad due to her following on social media and I believe it since I have never seen her win any race and she did not qualify in the meets leading up to the ollympics.
That's funny that you used Jonas Neubauer (Tetris) later in the video because when you mentioned this happens even with people at the top of esports (earlier in the video), this is who immediately came to mind
True its so biased i often see blondies who have strong jaws but they dont look feminine when compare to myself as an Arab yet sometime noo they look like angels and for others they dont , moral of the story let all these videos make u love urself mpre ans discover ut self
I think, Ronaldo put a lot work into his teeth. Also, his skin wasn't that good from the start. But he had a lot of potential in his facial features, yeah.
Performing athletic feats of excellence takes skill , genetics, and confidence. Attractive people tend to be more confident so that statistically increases the odds of a hardworking, genetically gifted attractive person being successful at athletics. I was 6'6 220 with a 40 inch vertical im highschool but was a constant under achiever on the court come game time, but an all star in practice... because I lacked self esteem and would get severe stage fright come game time. I wasnt considered attractive and my nickname in highschool in some circles was "ugs". Short for ugly. The best ball players growing up around me were attractive and exuded extreme confidence. ( Not normal confidence either , I'm talking about invincible confidence lol ). That is a major factor in athletics that I dont think non athletes truly grasp.
Also, elite athletes have the money to fix their teeth, whiten their teeth, get skin care, and other stuff, not all of them, but it enhances the physical attributes that were genetically given, and improved upon all the training they have done. Simply put, people who do sports more regularly, rend to become more physically attractive, and more attractive traits can be found on the better suited for sports.
3:55 - 4:01 so weird how it's true... they literally just play a sport for entertainment yet we humans go "oooga oooga trustworthy because they can put ball in hoop and are fit and good looking" lmaooo
About the jaw thing. Men who have higher testosterone levels also tend to jaw more defined and pronounced jaw lines. Defined jawlines tendo to be more attractive for women and testosterone plays significantly into ones physical capabilities, therefore there seems to be a clear explanation for why succesful men athletes are more attractive.
In terms of skill, those who are more attractive will get more attention (and likely receive more coaching and feedback). Compounding that over time and mix in other possible explanations, you'll likely outpace your peers
I would argue that people with higher intelligence have better self-control and are able to plan their future/delay gratification. These qualities allow smart people to better maintain their health and appearance when compared to people lacking in self-discipline due to less prefrontal cortical development
Low body fat means less face fat as well, means sharper facial features and less loose skin, end of the case, the dont all have attractive faces but being fit is sexy cause it shows you care about your health, you try to improve yourself and you dont destroy yourself with bad habits such as drugs, alchohol abuse, eating junk food constantly etc.
A sport where you'll find lots of conventionally attractive(as far as facial features) athletes is body building. Being naturally pretty/handsome as well as generally likable can be the difference between winning 1st or 2nd place against someone who is equally conditioned and well proportioned as you. In both natural body building and non natural body building top athletes are always extremely beautiful (in my opinion) and usually very kind.(at least in public) however body building is also a wierd sport because it requires a level of showmanship that other sports typically don't. Well except sports gymnastics or dance as far as i can think of right now.
The symmetry may be correlation in addition to causation. If two people try out for a sport, and are of equal skill or ability, the more attractive one will be paid attention to more, causing that athlete to get more training, and a,so to be chosen to compete more often.
There's also a component of wealth that comes along with physical success. Ronaldo has undergone a lot of operations to improve his teeth, skin, facial symmetry, etc.
Your point on the jaws was interesting. Athletes have nice jawlines because they most likely eat good food throughout their life, specifically meat. Meat develops the face muscles, which promotes better breathing, resulting in a more attractive face and potentially higher performance in athletics. It’s partially genetics but mostly diet and if your mother breastfed you or not.
Athletes usually have a big force from Aries position or house 1, that is BODY SPORTS, resulting being the complement sign of LIBRA and 7th house , the beauty sign and simmetry in astrology. The code of our AI simulation.
Well as a sprinter thank you lol. I've been told several times that I should model by passers by or people that I don't know lol. I have the "typical" body type but with curves, a very sharp jawline but soft and ethnic features
It's a feedback loop. Good athletes are more popular among their peers, fans and social circles thus they put more effort and investment to look more presentable and attractive.
You have to remember one thing which is often forgotten. Athletes generally strain themselves on practice, which leads to high tension situations on jaw - squeezing your teeth, vibrations, accelerations. Tension promotes bone growth, leading to more chiseled mandible. Again your body works as a whole, it's really hard to promote muscle and bone growth in just one area, and even your face changes with that. I remember from some study on chickens that even very small vibratory stimulus made their bones 30% more dense - the vibration added was almost negligable.
Interesting... I always used to think that top athletes are more attractive because attractive people are more confident and people are willing to help them more. More confidence and resources would then mean better performance
I would also just put into consideration the way major sporting events have a bias in selecting good looking faces and bodies, particularly in women's sports, and it's even worse for for girls competing who aren't even 18 years of age. So there's beauty bias and ageism happening behind the scenes which is unfortunate. Edit: Also POC/black athletes are also affected much more, including more strenuous routines and "diets"
As a fan of track, I've noticed so many female athletes with beautiful faces, I was wondering about the connection between athleticism and a fine face, but then I decided that historically and evolutionarily strong, athletic men would have been better hunters and warriors aka providers and protectors and therefore be more likelly to be "alpha males" in society capable of choosing the most beautiful women to mate with, thus leading to offspring with an extra dose of both beauty and athleticism in the DNA
The biggest factor this video failed to mention is that Most high end athletes come from Higher income homes. They have had a better diet, healthcare, dental care, access to training equipment to stay in shape or practice their sport or skill. so athletes as a category is already pulled from a much smaller demographic of higher income backgrounds.
Superior nature (genes) and nurture (food) leads to superior physical and mental ability as well as more attractive features like good teeth, good bone structure, health fat composition and distribution. Youth is another major factor. Athletes are young and in their physical prime which means they are also at their most attractive age!
Actually, I would say attractive people are just more likely to be athletic as well. I think people are naturally attractive for a reason and many of them are also strong and intelligent as well. It's a nature's way to tell us who is a good choice for mating as groups with attractive, but otherwise weak and dumb individuals likely had significant competitive disadvantage and as a result over the millennia attractivity became strongly correlated with strength and intellect.
I may not be a perfect example of an attractive individual, but I am a couch potato who eats chips and coke for breakfast, I workout less than once in a month, but my IQ is between 130-140 and I can do 12 pull ups without training. I will probably get back to 25 after just 10 workouts. I think it just goes hand in hand.
You did my boi Messi dirty at the end. I feel like a big part is also if you are good looking you will receive way more opportunities early on in life. You could probably have 2 equaly skilled kids playing football but just because one has a much better looking face he will just outright be pushed more by his coach, receive more playtime thus resulting in him overtaking his equal mate.
Here's a heart-warming story. Real Madrid, a giant football club in Spain were offered the chance to sign Ronaldinho, a fantastic Brazilian footballer who could do amazing tricks. The Madrid president said Ronaldinho was too ugly and instead signed David Beckham. Beckham was a very, very good player nevertheless, plus he had better marketability. Barcelona, Madrid's rivals, were also looking to sign Beckham. But after they missed out, they signed Ronaldinho. Ronaldinho created a mini-revolution in Barcelona's success and took them back to the top, including winning the Champions League (the biggest club trophy in Europe). He also won the award for best player in the world. Ronaldinho looked kind of goofy with his buck-teeth, but that didn't stop him from constantly smiling whenever he played. It became his iconic signature. The joy with which he played football, coupled by his amazing effectiveness won the hearts of millions around the world. So many professionals today will say that Ronaldinho was their inspiration growing up. Never let your looks stop you from being the best you can be. Never let someone tell you that you are worth less because you don't have the right facial features. People look at the outside but God looks at the heart.
Because the way you're selecting for "athletes" is by picking ones with attractive faces. I'm guessing you don't personally care about or follow sports. If you followed a wide range of sports and athletic competitions you wouldn't think that athletes have more attractive faces than the rest of the population at all
I think a big part is that athletes are committed individuals doing something g they love. They are in shape, eat well, and all that can lead to better habits. Also, they have never been ‘invisible’ they have always had some form of attention on them. And when people get attention, they can be more prideful, and not to mention the social component and overall competitive nature of sports themselves. But this doesn’t mean all athletes are attractive either; they just do things consistently that make them max out areas of their lives or bodies. Most anyone could be attractive if they really wanted to.
I think a lot of attractiveness issues also arise from dental problems, which are heavily related to diet even though food companies don't want you to believe this. Many athletes have proper nutrition from a young age and aren't over eating sweet and soft foods that atrophy the jaw and mess up teeth alignment.
There's another issue that the video seems to forget. I don't know if you've seen photos of some athletes when they were not famous? Some of them don't look the way they do today and that's because they got money. Cristiano Ronaldo is a good example of that, and for almost anything money is the solution: braces, hair transplant, surgery, you name it. So in some cases beauty is not a given thing, but rather something you acquire overtime
Yeas!! A lot of them have had work done.. Nose jobs, chin implants, lip fillers, even Botox (regardless of the fact that playing sports causes Botox to come out fast), wear fake tan, etc...
If 2 kids have same level of athletic skill. The mentor is more likely to choose the attractive looking kid to get ahead. Then Pygmalion effect takes care of the rest
There are so many athletes that are average or even ugly Messi, Modric, Rafa Nadal (average), Ronaldihno, Sergio Ramos, Venus and Serena Williams...Also many of them have work done in their faces.
@@fromthesouthofafrica6815 i can find many examples of good looking people that aren't athletes, and vice versa, it's just the fact that athletes have low body fat, so they have the "best" version of themselves
Why is no one talking about the fact that people who have money are able to afford the best diets, the best trainers, the best skincare, better dental care, therapy etc. Athletics aside, look at celebrities who we deem attractive today and note how they looked before the fame and fortunes. YES, athleticism will contribute to naturally defined features but when funds are available these celebs will be able to accelerate their looks and capitalize on it with better sponsorships and contracts etc.
