Why do ebike batteries explode and what can be done to avoid that from happening???
If, like me, you`ve seen the news reports about ebike batteries exploding like handgrenades then this video is for you. I had to do some research as soon as I realised the risk as we have a couple of ebikes for fun use and the thought of then burning the place down was not good.
Why do ebike and escooter batteries explode? Number 1 reason is the wrong charger being used and over charging the battery to the point of detonation, then damage to the battery cell itself causing polarity leaks that often let go when charging, plus a few other issues.
How best to reduce the risk? Watch this video and do a little research...

It’s easy to be frightened by the reports of house fires from exploding chargers, just follow these sensible rules and you will be safe. Just possessing an e-bike or scooter is not putting you or your family in danger.

@@vintagevelos9517 I'd hazard a guess that a lot of these fires are caused by cheap knock-off batteries and/or chargers. It also wouldn't surprise me if a lot of the fires are original batteries/chargers that came with really cheap bikes from no-name Chinese brands (not that China can't make good kit but they seem to have cornered the market on stuff that barely works). I'd love to see more data on this though, I expect insurance companies would be interested in gathering it!
