I feel like EVs should get cheaper and easier to maintain. People who might not be car enthusiasts but prefer to fix their own cars for cost efficiency should be able to do so. People who have more important stuff to worry about like having reliable transportation over saving the planet shouldn’t have to choose. We’re a minority as far as car enthusiasts. If we want to keep our gas powered cars, I think we need to have general population cars more accessible to the people who absolutely need cars and don’t have local public transportation. So long as oil companies keep gas pumps available for us in the minority, we’ll be fine.
problem is that they will tax gas powered car registration and gas prices so much that you will basically be paying 10x the price of an electric car, I live in California and they are doing that already. they will promise you can keep your gas cars and that they would never even think about trying to take them, but then they will turn around and make it financially impossible for those who dont spend thousands of dollars on mods alone, the daily driving car enthusiast will have to settle for an ev.
Show idea: "what happened to" and the car company that I would like to find out what happened to is Suzuki. They are everywhere else in the world except here.
@@gumerzambrano I am not going for a change that will only reduce %14 (if we manage to produce evs without producing Co2) of Carbon Emmisions while Industry, Agriculture and Energy sectors will continue polluting the world. (%86 of Carbon Emmisions)
@@rodrell1075 most people don't need a skyline supra or Corvette they want Toyota camrys golfs and Renault Meganes which are fast enough for them they like the feel of not destroying the environment and thise cars make money for the companies not the sports cars and it won't be profitable to design new combustion engine anymore
@@rodrell1075 Ah yes, I want to have a very loud engine so I can have a ticket, and of course I want those fast ones! So I can drive 60 mph on those freeways! Heck, give the high maintenance cars! So I can waste my money on parts and gas!
Read every comment? Okay, here goes then, I'll give you an honest take: I'd toyed with the idea of upgrading from a 25 year old car primarily in the name of safety. I then bought my last car based on an article I read about how exceedingly well it performed in safety testing. It turned out to be powered by electricity. That electric power train was also a novelty, and I like being just a little off the beaten path for whatever reason. I'm just wired to be attracted to "unusual" or niche tech. Overall, the experiencing of driving and using it has been great. The only real complaint I have after more than two years of driving it is that it's expensive. It's far more expensive than a similarly nice-to-drive vehicle. Maybe also that it has also come with some social baggage and negative attention that I'd rather just not have to deal with. It's just a car. I wish I could park it down town without having to worry about some jackwagon keying it, causing thousands of dollars of damage in an instant. Nobody would give it a second look if it were a Corolla. They're invisible. I wish I had that level of anonymity when I'm out. I'd probably have been better served with a brand new Camry or something similar, investing or saving the difference. They're not -as- safe, but they're still vastly safer than my old car. I'd never have known what I'd be giving up in terms of performance because I had never had a car that was truly fast before. The torque goes from 0 to 610 lb-ft as fast as you can smash the peddle. It's violent. A Camry isn't going to be that fun. Nor would I have been used to the convenience of always starting the day with a full "tank" and just basically never worrying about fueling up again outside of the occasional extended trip. There is never a good time to fuel up. It always feels like it comes at the worst time like on the way to work in the morning. They're not perfect, and I'd rather have never experienced the truly good parts this early in the game. But, what's done is done and here I am. Trading for equal or lesser price now would feel like a downgrade. Trading for equal performance in the gas-powered world would cost a lot more than I can afford. I'm stuck, ironically, because they're good.
I have a 400hp 350z that still gets over 20mpg so one one end I don't see why ev is something I want. But when the tesla blows by me all silent a small part of me says buy that it's the future. I'll still keep my z, ill just love both
Electric cars aren't a problem. I love them because they are good for the environment and the instant torque is amazing, just look at Tesla and Porsche Taycan launches. What I hope happens is that most people drive EVs so that us car enthusiasts who want to keep our gas engines can keep our gas engines. But people can also experience the instant torque of EVs and that fun and save the environment. In my opinion offering more choice is always better.
Fact, the environment factor should be your last reasoning to own a EV. Batteties use rare earth materials, that process from mining to point of sale equals a fully loaded Commercial truck with one million miles in the odometer. That's just to point of sale !! Now you gotta charge that puppy up. Torque yeah, sure good luck being able to put it to the ground for long. Tire wear is a thing when your vehicle weights in at 4klbs+ there's a reason EV are not seen at flashlight shootouts. They do amazing for 1-2 pulls, then they're absolutely done !!!
@@Hanibul_Lecktor engineering explained did a really good video about the environmental impact of electric cars and the conclusion was that in most cases electric cars are better for the environment then gas cars. @@bolt5564 one Tesla Battery before even being sold to the consumer has the same Carbon Footprint as a Semi Truck with 1 million miles in the Odometer. That fact right there shuts down EVs to anyone with half a brain and the ability to pay attention. There's reason EVs are hated by so many, people that can do their own research and common sense. We've had zero advancements in batteries, only how we charge them, make them etc basic composition remains the same. They still degrade, they're still hazardous to produce, store and dispose of. Now look at the short life of a EV, Tesla you can't even repair without Tesla taking you off the charging grid. Good luck mid trip charging !! If you can get your Tesla repaired via through Tesla, more than likely the insurance company will just total it due to downtime (6-9 months for repairs of even the smallest damages) Hybrid I think is fine, capacitors to store electricity vs batteries for the bulk of the work. Look at F1 for instance, best of both worlds with zero downtime. EV will never have that, it's a Liberals fake promises to force a economic shift. EV technology isn't there by decades, tech trickles down from Aeronautics, Space and Racing to the consumer. Never in reverse, never !! EV when you sit down isn't feasible for 99% of the population. It's like trying to convince becoming Vegan helps the planet yet the vegan refuses to understand they're supporting the monoculture they claimed is causing so much harm in the first place.
@@Hanibul_Lecktor could you please give your source for your assertion that a Tesla battery pack before being sent to the consumer has the same carbon footprint as a semi truck with 1 million miles on the odometer? Also your complaints about repairing Tesla's are Tesla specific you can repair the Chevy Bolt, Nissan leaf, and Ford Focus EV, yourself.
Damn Man your narration skills have gotten really good. Seriously I really can't stand watching RU-vid videos or channels or it feels like someone just reading off a card or stumbling through sentences you did a really good job.
I don't think I could ever buy an EV. I love the sound of my 5th Gen Camaro SS way to much. You will never replace the feel of American Muscle and the place it has in my heart.
I would legitimately consider an ev as a daily but I would 100% need a second had powered car for road trips and or weekend driving. Electric cars are pretty solid dailies but I wouldn't be happy with one as my only car
thats actually a safety issue, alot of drivers are accustomed to make choices based on the sounds around them. then could not hear you driveing up in the other lane and just blindly turn into you. seen it happen a few times since my town got a dealership just giving them away. Not EVs fault but its a safety hazzard i dont want to deal with
Honestly one of the few things bringing me towards EV is that I live in California and EV vehicles don't get a lot of hate from the cops. I've had a heavily modified car (catless, big turbo, fuel system, etc.), and I've been heavily considering a model 3 over my next car as I've barely gotten out of state refs in the past. It's a hard topic though as I know ill always love a manual and the sound of an engine. However EV's just have so much to offer at a low price compared to gasoline engines.
I personally like gas cars WAY more but i do appreciate a good EV, however everyone thinks that EVs are the only way to save the planet, personally i'm more towards the eFuel side
I'm heading to college. In 4 years when I finally have more than $500 in the bank I'll edit this comment saying if i got a EV or gasoline powered car. Be back in 4 years. Date of making this comment: 03/26/2021
EVs are just SOULLESS, full stop. Cars, if supposed to trigger passion need to have a soul. Lamborghinis, Porsches, Mustangs, Shelbys, Corvettes, GTRs, etc... all have a way to connect with car people, to generate emotions. It is called the SOUL. And this, is something the EVs will never have...
@@IncognitoMode404For "non enthusiasts", yes. This is exactly the idea of a "car". A shit box that will take someone from A to B. And it's sad. Think about food for a second. Are you eating just to survive? Or would you reckon having something tasty is also nice? There you get the point. Life isn't meant to be tasteless or soulless. Think about it.
That's probably the riced Civic with a fart can. The Prius is the silent boring nerdy guy that you ignore but later on becomes your employer. Scary shit.
Electric cars are gonna push ice technology to make it more efficient and powerful in my opinion, imagine a future lm car with a 1.6 L engine pushing a 1000+ hp with no hybrid system and a 10 L fueltank that could last the whole 24h of lm race.
@@jabbalito3787 man i dont give a fuck. Im not with all that dumbass "green" shit. Im a real car guy, not a typical trend follower. And whats with so many people putting the fuckin environment on a pedestal?
I have never driven or even haven't been inside an EV. But I cannot hate the progress. The numbers are insane and these are mostly first edition models from many of the manufacturers. Long term ownership is something to consider like can you own a 20 yo preowned EV? No idea. But I would love to see an aftermarket kits for old cars. I would love to make old shit boxes fast af with a simple pull everything out and put a 400whp electric motor running the back wheels. You can make every car into proper sleeper.
Lol, you gotta get in an EV someday. They may not have the loud engine noise, but the instant torque and crazy fast acceleration makes them just as fun as gas cars imo
I got to experience in my cousin model y I just fall in love with it so I’m getting one soon because as much I love my accord 1.5 sport but I want to stay out of modding cars right now because I don’t want to get tickets here in California I don’t want to have bad luck everytime I bring out my car.
If Tesla delivers on the Cyber truck with its mile range, solar rechargeable roof, reveal price and the ATV that comes with the truck I’m definitely getting it. It’s the only EV that would suit my needs because I like going outdoors off the pavement and would like to have the mile range. Other EV’s you can’t drive off road well. And I can go camping/hunting with the utility of a truck. Then I can even save on gas to drive my beloved supercharged Lightning.
To be honest this might sound weird coming from a 23 year old but I'm tired if the noise my motorcycle makes, the noise my car makes and the roughness of a manual and the slushbox automatic. EV's just start and go no warm up needed and they're comfortable to live with. My genesis coupe is gonna be my last ICE car. And Kawasaki is making a hybrid bike now.
One thing that annoys me with EV is the back in pull out charging stations. With the now push for EV trucks people are going to use them as trucks and haul with them, so if people are going long distance are they going to have to unhook to charge their vehicles? There's a reason fuel stations are setup they way they are
Sir i am a hugh fan of evs in all there form's of the cyber truck is ugly AF but moving on incompletely agree with you the way charging stations are aet up makes sense for those biulding them but no sense for those using them
Would absolutely consider an EV, and hope to either one or two car trades in the future. There’s no way I’d consider a Tesla, though; the interior designs are painfully bland, and I can’t get behind the fully buttonless choice. It really sucks, ‘cause they seem to be the only brand that’s actually committed to ensuring software support as their cars age.
Of course I'm going to drive an EV one day. I'll literally have no choice to once once gas and diesel stops being sold at filling stations. I'm really going to miss driving my Jaguar. 🙁
Duude ethanol will be used instead of gas You are already using 15% ethanol in your tanks it's gonna b 100 in the near future! Btw ethanol is RACE FUEL
I don't like EVs and I will not buy one. Because I like the sound, the simplicity, the power delivery, the top speed, the range and the modability of gas powered cars. And not to forget we have lots of infrastructure for gasoline and diesel.
@@aeiou1738I think you forgot that space has millions of things which can be used as a source for our planet. Not to mention also that every now and then our planet is getting refilled with asteroids or small comet materials. Don't worry - hope is not all lost yet.
I wouldn’t mind buying a hybrid but never full electric car because it takes a lot of commitment and patience to keep them charged. I like the ability to go anywhere and pump gas quickly rather than having to worry about not having enough time to charge my car. 🤷🏻♀️
I will never buy an EV the sound of any gas engine would steal my hart before an EV ever could, and an electric mustang is not ok, and it's now an SUV to def not ok.
I don’t think someone who posts gta5 videos on RU-vid should lecture others what a “true” car enthusiast is. Wait till you have lost your puberty zits and driven a wide range of vehicles before stating an opinion.
@@andreysedgwick9613 but anyway, don't you have anything else to do with your life ? Like understanding the fact that whatever I say or do is none of your fucking business. Then again, it's not like a 17 year old amateur racing driver would know anything about cars right ?
@@llama_wehraboo7274 lol. It’s not that your opinion doesn’t count. Actually it was a very valued one. The problem is that you spoke on behalf of “true” car enthusiasts. Some time in your life you might figure out that there are as many opinions of what a “true” car enthusiast likes as there are car enthusiasts. Happy to hear you are a racer. For me personally I love racing motorbikes. Corners are what floats my boat. I buy and like cars that reflect my likes. However I would not state that my preferences reflect everyone who likes cars. I have driven electric cars. Way to heavy for my driving style. But, the potential is enormous.
Batteries are getting much cheaper and much more energy dense, if the trend continues even at half its current pace in 10 years they will be able to be used in Long distance EV trucking.
@@bolt5564 which is exactly the thing Tesla is betting on with their Semi trucks. Have you seen how quick those things accelerate? It’s literally insane, my mind can’t even fathom how it’s possible sometimes
@@original__gmebvy It is impressive, but no one who is going to buy a semi for business cares about acceleration. It’s about being able to tow heavy loads for long distances, which is the biggest limiting factor for electric semis. Once you start adding weight, their range gets cut down by a large amount. Engineering Explained talked about it (for the cyber truck, and it’s all math so theoretically) the cyber truck would lose well over 60% of their range. Yes some companies have switched to Electric vehicles, however they use them for their city routes, not their longer hauls. Honestly I feel the last ICE on the roads are probably going to be big diesel semis.
The only thing I really have against EV's (at least for right now) is that they seem to only really be viable for people who live in certain areas. Mainly those who live in big cities/metropolitan areas, and/or places where winters are either very mild, or non-existent. Where I live, winters can be quite harsh at times, and I'm also in a somewhat rural area where the nearest tesla charging station (that I'm aware of) is a little over 15 miles from where I live. There's also the fact that I live in an apartment building, and an old one at that, with no access to a garage or anything so at home charging would be tricky, if not outright impossible for me. I also occasionally like to go on somewhat long road trips so "range anxiety" would definitely be a concern there. I like the idea of EV's, but I just don't feel that they're practical enough for everyone to be able to comfortably own one, at least not yet
And i mean, it's fine, they have different purposes and different users. The problem is when governments bans the alternatives. That would straight up mean leaving most people without a car, or forcing them to use very old cars with so many taxes, expenses and limitations. That's what's disgusting, not the EVs
@@giacomoneri1782 agreed. My argument isn't "EV's bad! No one should have them!!!" My argument is that while EV's are a great idea on paper, we still have a long way to go till they're a viable option for many people
I would drive one n ive never seen one before in person. The first reason why is safety n the second is that it helps to reduce the increase of co2 imetions to the atmosphere. Theres always gonna be two sides to a story. good couldnt exist with out bad nether could up with out down, so those who hate are just helping tesla grow.
The problem with EVs is charging them. I happen to rent (so no 220v home charging) and I also live in an area that has very few publicly available chargers, they're all in super inconvenient locations for me. It's just not practical. There's at least a dozen gas stations that are all closer than the nearest charging station, and I can fill my tank a lot faster than I can fill a battery. It would save money but it would cost time. A lot of time. And that's just not worth it for me. Maybe in a few years once the infrastructure finally catches up in my area, but until then I'm sticking with gas.
I like EV'S but I'm not going to buy one unless it comes with a guaranteed cyberpunk future along with the car designs. I want futuristic cityscapes to drive my futuristic EV around in.
No matter what they still will get hate (even from me) here's why: -they are way more heavy -batteries which needs time to recharge -if you hit horrible pothole some cells might cause a flame -almost no modifications like tuning it to make more power -no engine sound -you think your car has zero emissons and no more pollution when in reality there's more pollution with making the batteries Solution? - maybe create a syntethic fuel that can burn so efficiently with low compression and has very low emissons (I'm talking about Porsche)
I will stick with gas power cars till the day I die and I mean that. Hearing the engine turn on It's beautiful . hearing it purr like a kitten And pressing the pedal and all that torque all that power waiting to be released It's magnificent. A ev car yes you get a thrill out of it but doesn't last long. A gas power card does.
Yes I’ve actually already bought a EV for my daily driver I’m driving between 100-160 miles a day and with the gas prices the way they are now I was spending $500 a month if not more on gas so I decided to switch and it’s actually been nice it’s quite Apple car play I wake up every morning with full range never have to go out of my way to charge or get gas I just plug in at my house and it’s charge to whee I need it every morning but I also have a 2007 mustang gt that’s been modified for autocross and track and weekend drives and a e30 325i project car and I’m pretty certain I did not drive over a 100 miles a day and I did not have a weekend car already I wouldn’t have bought an EV unless it’s the Porsche Taycan
EV's are finally here. As the battery issue gets more R&D they will only get better. The extreme lower operating costs and maintenance alone will push gas powered vehicles out of the market. It will take a few more years, but its happening.
I’m going from a gti to a Tesla since I drive 90 miles a day 4-5 times a week spend 50-100 in gas a week vs 30 bucks a month in electricity. Also for work I drive 18 wheelers 12 hrs a day so the driving assist/fsd will be helpful.
I bet that will become a reality really soon. EV Car prices are falling and charging is already more convenient because you can just charge it overnight at home
Ok. I’m in UK. A friend has an electric Peugeot suv. £37,000. ($47,000) New. Av. range on full charge 150 m Petrol station charger (paid) 50miles for one hour. Can easily be 3 or 4 cars in charger queue. Supermarket charger (free) 10 miles for 30 minutes. My car. Nissan Qashqai. Full tank around £80 ($93) Range approx. 500 miles. No wait at gas station. No mid trip charging. It’s a no brainer.
I own a Jaguar XJ8 convertable, Ford Fusion and Tesla Y with FSD . The Tesla is 100% Ford 50% and the Jag 0% made in USA I love all my cars. All fun to drive. By comparison I spend less time waiting for the tesla to charge, then I spend pumping gas in the other two cars.
Most Evs have some huge visual design flaw. I think Tesla’s look ugly as fuck but that’s also cause they look like they’re from a lame ass sci-fi future and they’re designed to have a grill still but don’t have one so they just look like someone trying to draw a car from memory but forgetting parts of it. Also that hatchback concept tesla has is one of the ugliest things I’ve seen
I’d drive a performance oriented EV. Current limitation right now are infrastructure and battery technology. I’d want to be able to recharge the vehicle in 20 minutes tops and give a range of ~ 100 miles in that time... and be as common as gas stations. Also batteries are heavy, they need to get lighter and have more power density.
Comes a time in our life when we grow up. Gas will not last forever. How many years has the world been dependent on oil? We have to beg OPEC and Russia we should not have to depend on anybody. The future is here don't fight it just go with it. Its okay drive a Tesla its different but this is what's going on. Yes I still have a 750 Honda bike and a Honda Accord. This is until the change in our infrastructure places to charge.
Not a huge fan of even Tesla's styling tbh. We need cooler EV's to come out, current ones look like shitty postmodern econoboxes. Give me a sick EV affordable coupe and I'll seriously consider it.
Why do electric cars get so much hate It doesn't make any sound Remember when everyone wants a very fast accelerating car it has come but it doesn't make any sound Imagine using sound and noises as a benchmark to how good a car is look at Porsche you can't even revv all the way to redline at stand still
I don't dislike EVs, and I realize that there are many fast electric cars out there. We have the Tesla double motor models, Porsche Taycan, and Formula E. However, I am a car guy heavily because of the sounds of Internal Combustion engines, and because of how they operate and feel. My current car is a 2020 Lexus GS-F. I do not plan on giving up this V8 anytime soon.
If we're worried about the loss of materials in our planet - the next course of action is space exploration. We have millions of available materials out there which is enough to refill our planet for millions of years to come.
One thing I am concerned about Tesla is the lack of privacy when using SUPERCHARGER. Isn’t it right to say that Tesla always knows your location when you’re using their in-build internet & supercharger locations?
I would consider buying an EV, but if only it's loud, like the Jaguar I-pace. Cuz that adds a lot of character, personality, and most importantly, a lot of soul (which we desperately need in todays EVs as they are just boring computers on wheels. Also, this reminds me of the R35, but at least that has a lot more soul in it than a Model S....). Also, Im 13 years old.
I’ve had several racecar/project cars, to include 2 corvettes (a C6 and a C7) and now I own a Model 3 Performance. I never thought I would until I drove one. I still want a fun little project car that might be gas powered in the future, but having the Model 3 is so neat and I definitely enjoy it
You grew up unlike these rednecks. Where's my beer? Need an oil change again and a gas station. Roll some smoke with the pick up truck. Yeeee Haaaa. Man oh man
