cool video, grew up on an srv..you seem to love the vk's although I have been doing circles around them in deep snow, trapping, logging, hunting fishing up north in Canada. All round goodness with our SWT for years.....
20x156 track on the VK540/II/III. I agree that it's a great sled that runs nearly forever, but it doesn't hold a candle to the deep snow abilities of the SWT. The 1992 Skandic II makes a good "Camp Sled" for folks that don't go too crazy with the deep snow. She is clutched really well and can tow huge loads despite the small engine. Would love to see the SRV engine in the VK! Only 50hp in the VK's 540 but almost 75hp in the SRV.
Without watching the video I would guess you buy all these sleds because you love snowmobiles and you like breathing new life into these old unique sleds you grew up with? Your just the man to do it, instead of letting them go to scrap you tune me up and fix me so they can be ridden and not wasted
You said that you had videos of the IQR build at the snowmobile show, are you going to post the videos anytime soon so we can see it this season? Thanks for all the vids, definitely the best ATV/UTV/Skidoo channel on RU-vid.
I had a Yamaha Enticer 2 410 that had a blown motor with a bent and seized rod just like the one you showed. I litterally heated it with a torch bent to what looked straight and got it spinning on crank put it back together with new piston and it's been running every since for the past 8 years
I have been watching your vids for a while now. I really dont think there is any such thing as a "junk" snowmobile in your hands. I would love to see you do a complete restore of some classic sled. My favorite sled I had as a kid was an old Mercury 340. Not fast at all but fun.
Jeff James I had a Merc340 sr 1975! Twin headlights. Loved it! Great power, great speed! Great in heavily powdered and deep snow. One problem though,...the track was 3 pieces held together by metal grouser bars. The bars looked like they were glued to the rubber. After a few seasons, the metal bars were torn off the rubber and the track fell apart. You had to bolt the metal back onto the rubber.
Hey Louie, why don't ya ever buy old phazers, exciters, or 80's v-max's? I had a phazer II from 12yrs old to 16 and loved it. It had some mods of course but I beat a lot more powerful sleds through the trails on old Christine, she was a good sled.
I remember a buddy, we all bought old iron to ride one winter and his points machine never ran quite right, would foul plugs , so being young and dump we started running hotter plugs went to 7's I think. plus 4 C day pinning it around a field started fouling it up so he tried the old throttle tune up and boy she cleaned up. Said it was just flying those last few seconds right before she scattered.
how hard would it be to take a yamaha 540 motor and drop it into one of those scandic II ? would i be able to get away with it or would it have enough power to rip the chain case out of the tunnel? I have a 1992 safari 377 that has pretty close to the same chassis and would like to do a swap
I have a friend who has 21000 km his Yamaha srv and his Arctic cat only has 10000 km and it has a rebluid in it and my other friends Mxz 600 blew up with 8000 km on it so don't tell me Yamaha is junk
