Great video! Added to my Neuro Help Playlist, thank you! I just passed my 1 year anniversary of my ruptured aneurysm & subsequent stroke, and still am in rehab to relearn standing & walking. Still lots of pain & spasticity. My neuro says I have a lot of the central pain. I actually got Botox in end of December. Might try acupuncture in future... Thank you for all your info!

Elyse such a great explanation, it would be so good if this was explained by the health professionals during rehab.

Thank you! I had a stroke (affecting my left side) and a severe break of my lower left humerus bone, 3 years ago, but all of a sudden have pain in my left back shoulder blade on and off for a few weeks now. Been treating with massage therapy and activator chiropractic care. Both are helping, but you just solved my mystery of the cause. I thank God for you!!

This is a wonderful video, and a great reminder of how grateful I am to have found you and your channel. There was a lot of really good information in this video. I have been receiving acupuncture for about a year, and I do think it helps. Not everyone believes in it but I have found it to be helpful. If anyone is considering it please keep in mind that the acupuncturist might not find the right point to help your pain on the first visit, so give them time to figure it out on multiple visits. Thank you for answering the question about hand pain. I’ve been curious about this for awhile.

Almost 5 years had a stroke and now 4/1/24 is when am getting the PSCP, or post- stroke central pain, unreal very serious pain. I decided to go back to therapy it helps a little no much but mostly I keep a positive mind. In my case I use Tramadol and Alprazolam for pain. I forgot to say that the stroke affected my right side severe spasticity on my arm and shoulder, ufff thank you for the show

Thank you so much! I feel like this topic is under represented in my spheres. I deal with pins and needles in my affected hand and foot. I find compression to be decent at mitigating it but a good night's sleep as the best prevention.

This was great thank you I’m having terrible terrible knee pain on my left side, which was affected and shoulder pain as well and the left side. I feel like it’s too late, holding me back from the rehab because I can’t even put any pressure on my leg. I had an x-ray I’m waiting for an MRI. I don’t know what else to do. I do ice and heat. Keep it elevated, it’s overwhelming at times

Great info. I have no pain of any kind, but I am sure the information you provide can helps others. What I can from your videos is the importance of movement. I walk everyday, I would love to improve my distance, but I am happy I can walk be it in shorter trips. I wonder how important rest is between exercises? I have a friend that goes to gym a lot,, and he has been since he was 14 years. He is now in his 60s and really fit. I like to work on everything I can * in a safe way* I touch type * typing with 10 fingers without looking :) I am now drawing funny cartoon characters, I am teaching myself classical guitar. I use to platy violin but that is tricky at the moment. One of my family members has threaded me with smashing the violin on my head. They don't mind classical guitar so I am safe now. I also do electronics and Arduino coding and micro python. I have already sewn covers for the digital piano and sewing machine. I also help clean around the house. My intended happened 1 year ago. I have achieved a lot in a short time.. I should be a more patient with myself. I also do organic gardening. I have brown turkey figs raspberry blackberry, also a dragon fruit pant. I want to get a mango tree too that I can grow in a big pot. Take care and I look forward to your next video.

@@PostStrokeOrg I just had a little nap, and woke and found my right hand side did not respond, and I ended up on my butt. I was not able to walk but I had all the feelings. I decided to just sleep it off, and the next day I was in hospital for 2 months maybe a bit longer. and that was 1 year ago, and I have been becoming more capable ever since. You really need to be positive. Hospital was a new thing for me and I was scared all the time. I am just a positive person. I have noticed more RU-vid videos on the S condition, but they are done with these people maybe they are doctors too, but they have closed hearts, and no doubt if I listened to them they would tell me you can make progress for 6 months then that is it. You are not like them and I hope you never become like them. I have never had high blood pressure in my life, when they measured it I was told it was 210bp. Be careful of special audio it has many names now hemisync being one of them

Hi Elise, I understand it is a difficult question to answer, not scientifically easy to measure pain and there will be a number of variables with this. My number one question, which I can't find an answer to anywhere, was your question 6 about central post stroke pain. Without knowing the answer, it's difficult to prepare for the future. It is difficult to understand, given the time of the stroke is getting further away, why are the pain levels increasing. What is going on (2 year on for me) for the pain to increase on an almost steady basis ? Logically, it feels the further away from the stroke you are, the easier it would become but it's the opposite pain wise. What is making that happen ?

Hello! Is there any medicine for dealing with spasticity? What are other ways in which we can reduce spasticity for someone dealing with it since 2 years?
@PostStrokeOrg
@PostStrokeOrg 4 месяца назад
@SLB23106 Hey there! There are medicines that can be helpful to reduce spasticity. I'd recommend that you reach out to your doctor to see what might be right for your specific situation. Botox injections may be helpful, a daily stretching routine for spastic muscles, and sometimes certain braces/splints are helpful at managing spasticity and contractures!

Buffet lines are the worst after a stroke! I have dropped numerous plates, it's just awesome having everyone stare at you and then fall over each other to clean up the big mess! NOT. Any good tips for buffet line? I really don't want to sit there and have someone bring me my food, like a little kid.....
