An SEO question from Twitter, "Why does Google have a difficult time with ranking esoteric subjects? All I see are listicles! They should rank articles buy the subject matter experts." We look at WHY listicles appear frequently in certain searches, how Google's machine learning works in basic terms, and how Google might predict what articles will be the "best" for a certain search query.

Very informative video. Thanks for sharing. Do you have any videos on how to build a listicle site with Google Sites? Would getting a domain for the google site have a negative effect on the site ranking in Google?

Hi Johnny: As far as I know, this is the first video we've done specifically on listicles. I would recommend that you get a domain for any site that you are working on, as any links you pick up would be connected to that domain. Plus, you can port a domain name to a future site, if you choose. Ranking with listicle articles seems to work with certain search queries, where Google already seems to be ranking a large number of those types of posts.

Thanks. I've always agreed with getting a domain for any site I'm working on but I saw a video like 2 days ago where the guy mentioned that we should not get a domain for a Google Site because it will have a negative effect on the ranking. I'm not familiar with Google Sites so I wanted to get some advice on it. Thanks again. I'll definitely be getting a domain.
