I like the idea of a Superman show where they just start giving him progressively more ridiculous powers to the point that even Supes himself is like “Oh come on, this is just stupid at this point”
Same, I’m pretty certain that’s what it is. Just a visual effect to show him using his true power. Makes sense cos Superman should be able to destroy those robots with little effort, sending them flying like he did with his last punch
Same, but I think it’s like he’s not reaching his full potential because he’s holding back or something. Like he’s accessing hysterical strength (actual term)
@TheUnseenPath that's what he's saying obviously in universe he isn't just manifesting new abilities but the writers would just bullshit powers into existence wether they make sense or not. (Superman use to be able to shoot mini versions of himself out of his fingertips)
yeah lol, I thought this was something like a second awakening as he was getting his ass kicked by normal robots which for someone like superman, it's kind of strange.
@@kwayneboy1524 it’s a fact. How else would he be able to life buildings and planes without them falling a part This is also DC comic books where people die and come back to life and are all made of who knows what so you gotta suspend your disbelief as long as the story is well written
@@NazriB it's an ongoing theory. If he lifts an airplane, he would just punch a hole underneath. Also if you read all star superman or even check the movie, his bioelectric aura becomes visible (also due to him being overcharged by the sun)
After the silver era his power has been fairly consistent. Yeah they have Superman blue but Superman blue wasn't popular and they kind of scrapped the idea Can you elaborate further how his powers are inconsistent
@@kingwashington4044Look up Super man Prime One Million for example. Supe was “sun-bathing” at the core of the sun for about 15,000 and became one of the most OP things in any comic. It was like the writers just wanted to tackle on more powers into superman until they created the most powerful superhero. Supe’s power level is all over the place. In some comics, he’s just a dude who can fly and has laser eyes. In some others, he’s strong enough to pull an entire GALAXY.
@@Aliens1337you didn’t really read DC: one million, did you? Well that’s obvious to me, the comment doesn’t read like one who directly knows what he’s saying In that story, Superman Prime after exiting the sun has little to no feats whatsoever, and certainly nothing to demonstrate he became one of the most “op things ever”, even if what he does end up doing is far outside whatever normal Superman can do. And in future appearances, he’s demonstrably not that powerful whatsoever. “It was like the writers just wanted to tackle on more powers into Superman until they created the most powerful superhero” Except DC one million’s very premise is to tell a WHAT IF story (so the fact you brought it up is dumb) about if DC ever reached their one millionth publication. Superman (and one other who shall not be named) is still alive in this time (853rd century) so obviously, he’s a lot stronger since the 21st century, and considering his influence on the superhero world (and in his universe/solar system in general), he is celebrated throughout the future. And given that he’s aged several millennia, he is obviously a lot more powerful than his younger self. Albeit even then, his long long descendant Kal Kent has far more miscellaneous abilities than he does, and is on paper far more powerful. (I say “on paper” because obviously, they’ve never fought). So heck, with that in line, the whole idea that it’s just to make our Superman the most powerful thing ever is demonstrably not true, but it certainly does celebrate him tremendously. Edit: evidently, people like want they want to believe, not what is the truth
"Nooo superman can't have electric powers that's ridiculous!" *superman who can summon bricks to repair the wall of China has entered the chat* *pink kryptonite has entered the chat* *superman adopting and then psychologically abusing Jimmy has entered the chat* *superman who accidentally absorbed a star and then got a power boost along with super cancer has entered the chat*
That was a one time power up caused by something the villain did. Most every note of this sort were just one time deals that people made a huge deal out of because fuck context
This Superman is learning to use his powers right now and those effects only appear when he "unlocks" one of them or if he uses more strength than he could've used before. It's not ner powers just a way of showing his lack experience and how his power level is leveling up as we go or when he does something extraordinary for his oen standards
When you think about it, it makes quite a bit of sense, given that energy is just the capacity of strength. He gets his power through the sun, with enough power to level a city, he’s basically a superconductor.
It could be the extension/visualization of the “bio-electric aura” John Byrne came up with as a way to explain Supes’ powers when DC had him handle the Superman post-Crisis on Infinite Earths reboot. The aura was envisioned as a force field which contributed to Clark’s invulnerability and strength but also allowed for flight (bouncing off Earth’s geomagnetic field) and prevented things he was lifting from falling apart (by extending the field subconsciously around stuff he was touching).
I lot of things remind of the John Byrne run so far (which I just read so it’s exciting for me). Clark being more of the focus than Superman, the fact that he clearly isn’t as strong as most versions (that could also just be inexperience), skipping the Fortress of Solitude and just having memories implanted into Clark, not having perfect control of his powers as Clark (when Lois meets Clark at his apartment he has weights as a way of explaining his build, but they are weak weights because all human weights are light to him and he doesn’t know the difference. He also created a villain by breaking a guard rail on accident and falling in chemicals). Even him having glasses before getting his powers. (In Byrne’s run he only started wearing glasses when he moved to Metropolis to hide his identity, however there was a comic where he mentioned that he got the flu before he got his powers. The implication could be that Clark needed glasses before his powers kicked in and kept them for appearances. Or maybe the writers made an oversight and I’m looking too deep into it)
I hate when they make stuff up like this because it completely retcons if not at least waters down the fact that Superman has been said several times to be holding back his strength constantly even to just avoid breaking buildings and anything else he touches.
Personally i rather have him new powers than the typical flight speed and strength and senses. I also never liked that he is powered by the sun. Time for a change.

Actually, really enjoyed the electric blue Superman run back in the 90s. I hate that we haven’t actually seen a proper movie or series based off of it.
I think it’s a pure aesthetic choice. He isn’t discharging electricity or shooting out or anything. It’s just there to look cool and because is a very anime thing, in line with this shows art style
Personally i rather have him new powers than the typical flight speed and strength and senses. I also never liked that he is powered by the sun. Time for a change.
I know electrictys a DB thing but having flame like aura is also a very anime thing w a cool aesthetic, giving superman a fiery aura in these moments would look just as cool and would fit with his actual solar powers better
@@MoonlitPhoenix0u think he needs his powers to keep his secret identity? Have u seen fact fiends video on superman keeping secret identity? For those who dont know to make the 2 seem so completely different he adopts an entirely different physical persona, i mean clark looks and acts like stereotypical nerd in a suit while superman acts like a supreme alien being that saves ppl 24/7, the 24/7 part is another thing that helps no1 knows that he takes the night off or that he has a day job. He pulls off the transformation much better than kara in cw supergirl. 😁
It also helps he has superbots that can impersonate him allowing Clark Kent and “Superman” to be in the same room. Clark is actually very clever when it comes to his secret identity.
@@chrislanglois8275 you forget that his physical does not change. It's like looking at two identical twins with different personalities, yes they may a t like different people, but they still look exactly the same and fun fact. Superman does use his telepathy to hide his identity, the glasses help amplify it. Although that was silver era stuff when he had every power under the sun but since the adult swim version isn't sticking with the cannon superman stuff then let's say he's got telepathy. There was also the superman movie where he fought that British guy and his team, that's a fairly recent movie as far comic stories go maybe 10 years old and he used telepathy to make them think he stopped holding back so yes. He uses telepathy
Kryptonians shooting tractor beams out of their fingers was a favorite one off power of mine. I think zod or one of his crew used it in a film with Reeve. Never saw it or heard it addressed again.
it's not really a 'power', it's just an effect to display his powerups/awakenings. i strongly doubt he's going to start shooting lightning bolts from his ass anytime soon.
Lmao! No mortal can really stop superman kinda mut point. It's already been stated multiple times in comics by Kryptonians and Daxamites that Superman is merely scratching the surface of his powers under the yellow sun. White Star: Massive increase to all powers. Blue Star: Massive MASSIVE increase to all powers +New powers on top+ Loses weskness to kryptonite Quasar: Everything from a blue star XXXX Including even more additional powers. Basically unstopable god that shit stops eveything.
I thought it was just a visual representation of his powers manifesting as he accepts himself as the role of Superman when he sees people need his help.
My theory is that it isn't actually electric powers, but a visualization of him temporarily releasing his self imposed limiters. I recall back in the day it was explained that when Clark first found out what he was the trauma of the realization caused him to subconciously lock away a portion of his powers out of fear, but when he gets a good enough adrenalin surge or is pushed to his limits he unlocks his true potential just for a moment, and the light up effect is mostly for the audience
@@duaneashley8194 I don't think it's from a specific comic or storyline, just an explanation for why Superman seemed to get stronger as the series progressed, it was brought up in the Death Battle episode of Superman vs Goku
@@ambushbob5383 because it's a new spin on an old story, they had to explore a different angle so it wouldn't be redundant to all the other Superman shows
I think is just a representation of his natural bio-electric aura, that thing the writers gave him in most comics that protects him from a lot of things except magic and allows him to move as fast without breaking the laws of physics.
When people say Super Saiyan Blue was Dumb in DBS, but I thought it was really Cool because it reminds me so much of Superman Blue in the Classic Comics.
Yea but it didn't look like he was actually using electricity, they should have visualized it as a flame-like aura like in DB or HxH because it would have achieved the same effect while actually fitting with Clarks solar power set
@@SparkShadow212 I think it depends on which version you are referring to. And good luck with that, seeing as there are more variations of Superman than there are of canceled "Kang the conquerers."
With a man that can shoot lazer beams out of his eyes, has ice breath, and can somehow turn his logo into a blanket to catch enemies... yeah, I don't think having electricity powers is too off base.
Ngl my favourite line in this show was when Superman went “And this is to go even further beyond!” And then used his Chakra to summon a stand to best Shiguraki
My favorite Goku speech is the “I feel like I live in a world of cardboard” speech Also, When Uncle Jiraya said to Naruto “with great power comes with great responsibility”
Haven't they explained that a part of how Superman's powers work in the comics is based on his bioelectric field? We all have one, but his has special abilities. It's why he's able to lift things in ways that seem to ignore physics, because his bioelectric field expands to encompass portions of what he's touching and strengthen it. That's why he can stop a falling airplane by pushing on the nose when physics would have his hands just puncture through the nose with the amount of force being applied to such a small surface area.
The comic book explanation is "tactile telekinesis." Basically Superman, Kryptonians, and the Superboy clone all have telekinesis which explains their flight, part of their invulnerability, and the reason they can pick up large objects without them breaking. This telekinesis is not consciously controlled. Every time this gets explained it is very short and shallow.
Only saw episode 1, but it looked more like some kind of energy that symbolised when his body gained a new power, like when he got his speed and flight as a kid, and when he became stronger to take on the robot. It’s like a stylised take on his body becoming stronger. Of course, I could be way off, but I see no problem with it.
Man it's crazy. It's almost like this was established not to be the mainline Superman and is free to have his powers either be different or be portrayed in a different way. Wild
I think it’s just a stylistic choice tbh. It could be a cool Superman Blue Easter Egg/reference/tease (which is what I originally thought) and yeah Superman’s chest emblem looks more like Jon’s, but it also adds some really neat visual flair to something that might need that extra oomph.
@@lazyking8445 I don't think that had anything to do with the lightning, though. I think Clark is just reawakening his Kryptonian heritage/powers (which I believe is even signified by that brief strange "vision" he gets). Like on the third/latest episode, a similar thing happened when he gets his heat vision. Guess we'll just have to wait and find out tho :)
@@cicofolle4474 Magic doesn't affect him the same way say Kryptonite does. However, he doesn't take it as well as he does more conventional means of attack. It's why Shazam can't steam roll him in most instances.
superman has had electric esque powers on multiple instances in the comics. theres one where he controls his body's own electro magnetic field to hold the earth in place
That's actually the Flash. Speed force is such a bs Mcguffin that he managed to out-sped a guy that was teleporting instantly. So it's more instant than instant transfer.

He doesn’t have electricity powers lmao, it’s just meant to show that he’s becoming more powerful, like in the comics, hiding his powers for so long made them weak, but finally exercising them again gets them stronger.
In my opinion Superman should just have flight, strength, lazer eyes and x ray vision. Super speed isn’t needed because he can fly and no freeze breath because fire can’t hurt him, I’d keep the x ray vision so he can have his other weakness of not seeing through led.

Superman has always had power creep. At one point his flying was said to be a form of telekinetic levitation and suddenly he was moving things around with his mind. Eventually a new writer always comes along and wipes the slate back to factory settings.

I'm not hating on the show, I love it, but truth be told, this Clark doesn't have a lot of experience using his powers, nor has he reached the same level as most Supermen in the multiverse. Ultimately, it's better this way. It fits this show's style better.
I always figured it was an expression of his bioelectric aura. When Superman starts out, he's just really strong and fast which is due to his dense Kryptonian biology but once he stores up enough energy on earth, he develops his bioelectric aura that gives him his extra powers like flight and I assume this also makes him faster and stronger because, in order to fly the way he does, he'd need to manipulate space time. This is my own head canon though. Idk if that's for sure what the writers were going for.
Superman has always had whatever power the writer felt like adding. In his original conception, he was super strong, could jump really high, and run fast. Fast forward a few years and he can straight up fly and shoot lasers out of his god damn eyes. Hell, at some point, someone thought it would be cool if he could freeze things with his breath, and now that's something he does from time to time. I think giving him electricity powers is par for the course at this point.
Its not really that simple, while yes some writers did just give him random powers for the sake of it a lot of his iconic powers were just extensions of his old ones. Flight was added because it was easier to animate than constant jumping. Laser eyes were originally just the heat from his xray vision, freeze breath is just the extension of his super breath from his super strong lungs.
Not really, because Superman with those powers was the first to have it. Have electricity powers is just overdone with the amount of Comic book characters we have.
I remember for a time Superman was psychic. As in all his powers stemmed from some sort of psychic ability. His super strength was zero point telekinesis. Flight was levitation. Heat vision and ice breath were pyrokinesis and cryokinesis. Compared to that having these energy powers isn’t too out there.
It could be just his powers manifesting, not him actually having electrical powers. For example in the first episode when is eyes glowed he manifested super speed and saved a woman and her baby from hitting a tree. I actually like the series
@@kou7191 Yeah, it's just a way for them to visually show that he's tapping into his powers more, since we're dealing with a inexperienced Superman. Clark doesn't typically use his powers and hasn't tested his limits.
To be honest it just feels like they can't create a new character that fans like so instead they are going back to golden age where you get a power for the issue and that's it
